So my fellow Vizzed board members I would like some honest opinions here, do you think people can change their behavior or qualities about them self in a more positive way?

Of course they can- you did, didn't you?

I have a strong belief in this and I myself know what this is like also! Yes people can change. It is a difficult thing for any human being to do though. We are all set in our ways but it takes ourselves to see something we don't like going on in our lives or about ourselves and make that change. It is something that can't happen overnight and i'm more than sure you know this, Divine. I've watched many of my friends change, some go from great to terrible and some from terrible to great. It all depends on what you're doing in life and if you let things affect you to a point where you just become a negative person. I recently had a friend like that..

But negatives aside yes people can change for the better. Something that can take a lot of willpower at times. It just takes them to realize that they aren't happy with the negative consequences their life has and make that jump so everything is better not just for them but everyone around them. From personal experience I know what this is like. I was never the greatest person when I was younger. I was very anti-social and all that because of where I use to live. But as I got older, around middle school at least, I realized i'm just not happy being an outcast. it made me think about what my grandpa use to tell me about being nice to others and they could be nice to you. So I did it. It was hard to approach other kids but I did it. After that it became the easiest thing in my life. I want to know people or at least get on common ground with others. It makes life so much better and easier when you just be you, you don't care about the negatives, and you just try.

Yes. People can change. I have seen a lot of people change. Take mohammedroxx3 for instance.  What did he do? he changed how he treated everyone, and he changed himself. Now isn't he a lot more likeable?

I did.  I used to be a serious porn addict, but I changed.  I still am an addict, but I no longer look at the stuff.  I turn away whenever I see it.  It's hard sure, but it's worth it.  Any serious change for the better is.

Oh, absolutely. People change (for the better) all the time, though it only happens when something shakes them up.

star4z : I disagree.  I think that their are people out there who are humble, willing to become better every day out of love, not out of fear.  I try to be one of these people, though I'm not perfect.

supernerd117 : This doesn't oppose my thesis. If you were trying to do this before something (even something very small) happens to you, you are not likely to achieve it, much less achieve it as easily, because your incentive is not as strong. Though I wish people would do more things out of love.

Yes, some people can change. I was a thief, liar, and just a bad person and I have changed. I don't steal, I don't lie, and I am an alright person now. I changed for my daughter. A person has to really want to change to change, you don't just wake up one day as a totally different person.

I know they can. I've changed a lot as well. If you saw the past me from a few years ago, you wouldn't recognize me. lol I've seen too many people change to think it isn't possible. It's difficult, but not impossible.

Saying that people can't change is challenging the very core of civilization, as well as humanity in general. Anyone can take a look at themselves and see that they have changed many times already. And those people that still insist that the changes they've made aren't enough to prove it isn't impossible (which is ludicrous, given the definition of the word Impossible), must say that a murderer was born a murderer, and a liar was born a liar, or thief was born a thief, because if people can't change, then the murderer can't become a murderer, and the thief can't just become a thief. It's a double standard to assume that people can change for the worse, but not the better. One would only argue so to protect their stance against hope for change. Are we so negative and do we have such a depressing view of life and humanity, as to assume that we can only become worse? How then could someone lie once, but not become a habitual liar, if they can't do better than they've already done?

My opinion? I think that those that say people can't change, do so because they don't want to give people in their personal lives a second chance, for fear of being hurt and/or disappointed. I can understand that. And for that matter, I don't think ill of those who disagree, and I apologize if my words came across a bit offensive or hurtful. All are entitled to their own opinions.

People can change. It is maybe one of the hardest, most difficult things we have to face in our life, but confronted by it, we can change, depending on if we choosd to our not. Change can be for the better or for worse, but it all depends on our will and desire to change that will ultimately decide whether or not we will change. But yes, I think we can indeed change, it is our choice to decide what path to take, I have changed as a person, perhaps for the better I might say. But we can change depending on how badly we want to, or our desire to change is.


Sometimes we are forced into situations where we are reliant on changing and making a choice. Because of this I am a more honest, better person. So yes I do believe we can change. It's just a matter of the situation we find ourself in and how the possible change might effect us.

I know we can change from experience. When I first joined vizzed and began posting I was not the nicest user. I may of followed the rules and there was nothing wrong with what I was doing however it was some of the things that were said, like I had a hate towards bronies. Now I am much nicer towards users and I respect opinions. That is why I am trusted, and I dont stop at where I am. I want to be one of the nicest users of the site, but only to those who deserve it. I have only had to report abuse to one member so there is not many users to hate. I will have to thank Davideo7 for that!

Honestly, it depends on who and what kind of change you are talking about. I differs per person. As for me, I CAN change, I'm just too lazy to change. As for my drug addict pimping alcoholic half-brother, eh, maybe. I  guess that depends if he really WANTS to. As for my Grumpy, I'm-always-right, My-way-or-the-highway Stepfather, no. He is stuck in his ways. He won't change for the end of the world. 

My ultimate answer: Yes and no. Depends who you talk to.
