What most girls are attracted 2 is confidence. I am 22 years old now but  when i was in school i wasn't  the best looking guy and am still not the best looking guy. But i always got hot looking girls and still do. The reason why is because i have always been myself and i have always been confident in myself. Girls can sense confidence. So it isn't just looks alone that get the girls. And a guy can't fake confidence, you either have confidence or you don't have it. Once you are confident with yourself then you will get the girls.

Pretty much with this situration, people pretty much cares about what the person looks and smells like, but don't know what is in the inside like the mental part, so this is pretty much why a smart one falls in love with a not so smart one just for his looks.

IgorBird122 : I guess that makes sense, they are only for the nice physical looks on the outside and they don't really care about on the inside or somebody mentally intelligent. That would definitely be the case in my school. It is mostly the athletic guys that are more likely to break their heart later on.

Razor-987 : Yeah, That's really the thing I don't get, and all the ones with the smarts and know what's right, they don't go with them, they much rather go with people that looks great outside.

Well I think it is to make them feel smarter . But I think girls go for older guys rather than dumb ones. They also go for handsome ones which are normally dumb so I guess that is another reason  

Well I guess as sort of being one of the old guys on the forum I can tell you this. Don't know how universal this or if it is an any comfort but here goes.

When I was a teenager, lot of girl seemed to go for the older guys. Even if they were sort of dumb, but hey they were older. Had cars, their own apartments, didn't live with their moms no more and what not. Anyway, it was frustrating. It was annoying and seemed ridiculous to me but when I got to be "20 something" myself, suddenly all these younger but legal girls suddenly started pay attention to ME. Well. I guess I did take out some of the frustration that I used to have, telling myself that I am a gentleman and a good guy, unlike those "older guys" in my youth. Ofcource none of those relationships worked out, since it is a fact that (hope I don't offend anyone when I say this) you cant have a steady long lasting relationship with a teenager no matter what you do.

Nowadays fortunately that is all in the past and I get mostly approached by other adults. Divorcée's, single moms and other "free spirits" like yours truly. I guess we all share the fact that we were the "dumb ones" too at some point. We never married our high school sweethearts or if we did, it did not go as planned.

Well, not all girls go after the dumb guys. I am a girl, and not only do I ignore those kind of guys, I am not interested in going out with anyone at all.

To answer the question, girls probably do it just to either earn or keep popularity if the guy is famous, or they are just complete idiots who believe the guy is so amazing or incredible. That's just my thought though.

AriaAngelDream : I like the way you said that. I think you are right, they will either go out with those kinds of guys because of their confidence or simply to maintain popularity if the guy is like a football player for example and he is also popular.



Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate an outlook from both sides. And I mostly agreed with what you had to say. I think that is mainly the reason why girls seem to choose that type of guy. Either to maintain popularity status, or because those kinds of guys are more confident than perhaps a more quiet, shy guy. 

wow this is so true i dont get this either well im not dumb or smart im just average not the best looking not the strongest like im not ripped but im buff so yeah i dont know why they do that like my crush i was really nice to her hugged her everyday and walked her to her class and i mad her happy bu then she started ignoring me then im like whats wrong and she said she isnt ignoring me when she was but yeah its because she has a boyfriend on wednesday i asked her where she was going shes said im walking home with my boyfriend when he doesnt even defend her when she other guys like trip her or push her and i show up and say leave her alone well maby i just never know why she would do this i still love her soo much wish i knew the real reason why she does this that stupid dumb boyfriend of hers doesnt even walk her to class or even takes good care of her i would crack him real hard if he doesnt start treating her well but im guessing he is now so he is lucky man i was so mad cant believe that happened really sucks to see your crush with someone else its probably because he is better looking than me acts like a freaken pretty boy and thinks hes so the best looking person in school so yeah well im off to boxing in like 30 minutes so yeah i will have to stop posting but anyway please reply and let me know what you think what should i do well thank you anyway great thread

The reason is that they are biologically choosy over what or whom they believe is a good mate based on qualities. A bystander may believe different qualities are better, thus forming the "nice guys finish last" ideals.

Talking about jerks, the reasons depend on the girl.

I have no idea as to what a girl in that position's psyciartical method of choosing guys would be . Maybe that do it for popularity , physical attraction or just because they want to make another guy jealous . To really find as to why they do this you would need to conduct a census of some sort  

Relationships are funny things.
Some girls feed their man too much.
Other girls encourage hair to be unprofessional looking on their men.
Every relationship is different.
Some girls just care about having the bills paid and that's it.
The dude can get dumpy all he wants.
You might want to try talking to the people to find out.
Though it is a common mystery to see a "knock out" with a dude that seems to be a "Chump".
I often found out that the dude may not be a chump at all.
What ever he does he does it well.
It happens.

Once a person gets to a certain age and meets the right person....?
Everything becomes clear sometimes.

I think the question is a bit too simplified.

It seems to me that dumb girls go with dumb guys, and smart girls go with smart guys. People like to be with other people that they're intellectually compatible with. However, I see a lot of "smart" guys date dumb girls for "obvious reasons", So it definitely goes both ways.

Relationships are complex things, and I'll have nothing to do with them.

orionfoxgibson : I like how you said relationships are funny things, I think that is so true. I think that mainly guys or girls want a partner that is on the same intellectual level as they are and that makes perfect sense.

I think that it's not that all girls like going out with dumb guys, exactly, but maybe more that the type of girls who are going to be more outgoing and boy crazy are often more of the popular girls who aren't as, let's say, academically focused. They don't mind going out with dumb guys because they're not so smart themselves, and they honestly don't seem to want a deep, meaningful relationship, but rather just a little bit of bragging rights with their popular friends about "I have a hot boyfriend and look at me, I can get lots of boys because I'm so pretty!"
Smarter girls who want a more serious relationship are often more introverted and shy. They wouldn't dare to ask a boy out, so you have to take the initiative and be brave to get these girls, I'm afraid. I guess I could ask you the same question in reverse, because it seems to me that a lot of guys go for the dumb girls. Smart girls are often overlooked, and remain unnoticed. Basically, the type of girl who values intellect isn't often the type of girl who's a major flirt so it's not that they like confident guys more, exactly, but rather that they may lack the confidence and self-esteem to initiate a relationship, so it's the confident guys who are actually able to get across to talking to them.
I realize that these are stereotypes. I'm not saying this is always the case, just theorizing about how this works in general. I've never been in a relationship, so I honestly wouldn't know.

Maybe she got to know a different side of him that wasn't so dumb, but really attracted her. I remember one girlfriend I had got to know me before we dated and everybody knew me as that dorky kid. Everybody wanted to know why a girl like her would be with a dork like me. It was because she got to know a different side of me.

Well, I guess this explains why I can't get a date, haha.......

Anyways, I think this might be so that the girls have an intellectual advantage over the boys. Or because that the dumber ones are usually more "cool", outgoing, etc.

This is stereotype, but in my opinion, this is true. 

Personally, as I view this, it's based on popularity. Statistically how I see this, bare with me. 70% If a guy with a heart went up to a girl and asked her out, and she said "let me think about it". Then another guy that was very popular, and/or some pop star, or movie actor, went up to her. She would probably say yes. 

I can't really explain what I am trying to say. I still have trouble on this question. I have plenty of friends, and they are always posting on facebook, "I just want a man that treats me like a princess". Yet they always go for the guys that treat them wrong. I don't know why. I really don't. 

I really don't know where I am going with this, if you understand this good, cuz I dont LOL.
