So I have been extremely depressed lately, and I talked to my mother. I told her how I have wanted to end my life and I just don't want to live. It sounds unfair how they want me to live when I am just so depressed. It is like a family with a dog who is old and is hurting while he is awake, the kids don't want to put him down, and if anything it is a selfish reason to want to keep him alive while he has to live in pain. That is how I can relate myself to that. My mother would be the kids and I'd be the dog. All I ask for is to just be put down, while she wants me to live just for her, which to me seems selfish. Any thoughts?

I agree and have been there. I refuse to try to convince you to do anything. I just hope that any choice you make is one that you actually want, and not one made for fear or laziness, as mine was going to be. I hope you pull out of it. I hope you make the right decision for you. Not for anyone else. Have a good rest of your day/night.

Seriously, don't even talk about suicide.  Never the right thing to think about, no matter how depressed you are.  I get depressed a lot, but I just handle it one way or another.  Trust me, it gets a lot better.

Don't you realize that suicide is just as selfish?

Suicide is never the answer. There is never a good reason to commit suicide. Think about this, you are still 12, you have a whole life ahead of you. You think that you have no purpose in life right now, which is definitely not true. But if you end it, you make that thought a reality without a fight or a struggle. Everyone has problems, don't think you are the only one. The real question that everyone needs to answer is how to deal with those problems, and giving up is too easy and there are so much better ways to deal with it with better outcomes. It is so easy to see the problems in ours life that we sometimes overlook the blessings that we have in your life. If you think about it, there are people who are not as blessed as you in many aspects in life, and yet they still fight and they still live their lives. It is my firm belief that everyone has a purpose in life and life is worth living, no matter the ups and downs. Sometimes even our downs can bring out purpose and many come out better after going through downs. We live life by persevering. It's the effort, the striving, the struggle, that truly defines living.

Dude, like others have said, you are 12. You have so much more life to live. God has a plan for you. I don't really know what else to say about this, but I'll post a few bible verses. Just hang in there buddy, and the best thing you can do through this time is pray.


Psalms 34:17-20 - When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.

Isaiah 41:10 - Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Suicide is the last thing you should do in a situation like this just keep going through life a bit things should eventually get better sometime soon.

BluemageKyle : Do not end your life just because you are going through depression in a hard time at the moment, suicide is never a option to cope with your problems, have you seeked medical help or talked to a licensed physiologist or though about therapy to cope and talk about what ever you are going threw? 

i've thought about suicide before, but fear of death and what could possibly come after it made me reconsider. In my opinion, suicide isn't the answer to anything. you only live once, so you might as well live your life for as long as you can.

BluemageKyle : I want to share my story with you. I have never talked about this with really anyone but I think It can help you so I will tell it. I attempted suicide a few years ago. I took around 30-40 pills. My wife found me on the couch in a drugged state. I was rushed to the hospital and was in the er in what I can only call a coma for around 4 days. I had to spend a very long time in there Mental health facilities, which had a mix of depression patients and junkies trying to get clean. All I have to say about that is that place is worse than prison. All the people are nice but the workers talk down to you like you are a dog. It is not the answer. You got to give life a purpose because life ain't got one. My purpose for living is my daughter. I hope my story has helped you because it was hard to say.

I have thought about suicide, plenty of times. But I can never follow through with it. Things just seem to get better as you go on down the road. Just give it time, kiddo. 

Yeah, no matter how bad things may get, ending your life is not the way out of it, it is not the answer. You are so young and you have an entire life ahead of you, I am sure as tough as things may get that you will be able to pull through it. I have been depressed before to where I had similar thoughts that you have now, we have all been in that part of life and take it from us that it is not the way you want to go, it is not the way through. I am sure things will get better, just give it time and be patient. Imagine how bad your life may seem now and if you go through with a thing like this how sad your family may be, don't do something that you are going to regret. Just wait and see, things will start to get better, I promise you that.

I have been depressed too, Kyle.  Almost to the point where you are right now.  I have held knives and everything.  Over time, things will get better and you will feel happy again.  You just have to get past the hard times in your life.  Your a funny kid and something like that should never been wasted.  Things will get better down the road, trust me  If you want to someone to talk to, I'm here

I sort of feel the same thing too, however if you think about it, how would suicide even help you? Well, it will certainly not help you, it will make your loved ones and your family member sad which would  therefore make suicide selfish.

Remember that patience is a virtue in life, so just be patient with whatever hardships you have in life, and just try to forget about anything that depresses you and get depression out of your mind.

Now instead of thinking about any of this stuff, now just go and do something that you have fun in doing which will cheer you up and will make you forget about this. Do any normal fun thing, like play video games, chat with your friends (but don't talk about depression or suicide), go on vacation. . . etc.

Simple as that just do some normal fun thing that will make you forget about this and just continue and enjoy your life. I feel the same like you but I simply just follow what I have just said here in this post and then all of this baloney will be gone!

BluemageKyle : Feeling depressed is a horrible thing, but don't try to commit suicide over it. I will tell you this you never know what god has in store for you in life. You are still young and you have your ways to go. Don't worry about what's going on just try to ignore it, and don't be around it. Suicide isn't the way to go, and I don't think you should try it. When you get older you might look back at this and laugh, and say I remember that time. You never know what can happen so just be careful good luck .
