I really can't limit myself to five, there's just too many that I like, so I'll try limiting myself to ten.

Kara no Kyoukai: the Garden of Sinners.  I enjoyed the story, the animation, the fights and loved Shiki.  And I found it kinda randomly.  I was looking at one of those /a/ rec images and just happen to decide to check it out.  Couple other favorites...

I am not too much of an anime fan but I really do enjoy a good Studio Ghibli production. 
I own all of the films, most of them came in a box set but since I had that there have been more films released.

Other than that I have enjoyed the Professor Layton film. I was quite surprised it was decent since most video game based Anime is bad in my opinion. I can't stand pokemon or Yu Gi Oh

1. The Slayers (first three seasons, never seen 4 and 5 yet)
2. Blue Exorcist (Come on, I like twists on mythology)
3. Sword Art Online (Aincrad mostly)
4. Lucky Star (that is hilarious, especially some of the situations those girls get themselves into)
5. Full Metal Alchemist (Haven't finished but heck, its awesome...and it saves me from a full Mello Yellow can again)
6. Ghost Stories (first American release, the one that isn't the actual translation, not seen yet)
7. Pueri Magi Madoka Magica (a nice little dark story with a light ending, although I haven't seen the after-years OVA yet...)
8. Elfen Lied (a nice little darker toned story, and a bit of a sappy ending...)
