Why don't you go out of your comfort zone and get a game genre you normally wouldn't, like an RPG? I recommend Eternal Sonata if you have a 360 or a PS3.

At the moment, Minecraft is a sandbox game. If you're going to get bored of that quickly, try COD I guess. I haven't played it, mind.
I do have Minecraft, however. It's fun when I'm playing around with my friend on it, sure, cause we keep thinking of things to do. Once we run out of possible things to make, that could be the end of it.

Though that being said, apparently there's an adventure thing coming out with Minecraft in the next update.

I have never actually played Minecraft because my computer couldn't handle it, but as said before, if you don't like sandbox games where you can do pretty much whatever you want, just go with COD.
