Everybody has a preferred method of hearing their music, and theres a lot of different formats that people can latch on to that are still being used today. A lot of people still use vinyl, cassettes, CDs, mp3s, flacs, and streaming services. Some people use earbuds, some have over-ear head phones, some prefer using a set of speakers, and some have it on their televisions. How about you? What's your setup like for listening to music?

I gotta buy a new record player. I learned about a year after getting it that cheaper players don't have a counterweight on them which increases the tracking force the needle puts onto the vinyl, causing it to dig deeper than a standard play and cause increased quality issues and crackling. In the meantime, I've been using spotify with some bookshelf speakers and a pair of Bose NC700 noise cancelling bluetooth headphones. Never been the biggest fan of earwear, they get really warm on my ears super quickly and my PC doesn't have bluetooth functionality amd both adapters I got broke within days.

I listen almost exclusively through Spotify at this point. I do have music that I ripped from my old CD's and downloaded from places when that was much more common but I don't listen to that very often because it's only on my laptop and nowhere else.

I have some of that music on a USB in my car so I can listen to it while I drive and don't have to use the radio. I despise the radio. I've hit the age where new music is generally awful so I avoid it as much as I can.

I either listen on Youtube or on Spotify, normally on a playlist on shuffle. I'm pretty happy with the headset I have it's definitely on the cheap side but it has really good sound quality for it being cheap I notice details in songs I could never hear with my old headsets all the time with this one.

I used to have CD's and listen to my music on a boombox yeah I'm that old little humor there. However, now I listen to my music on radio stations that stream online. I just click listen live and let the music play. If there is a song I want to hear I mainly just youtube it. Anyway that is how I listen to my music which includes hits from 1955-1990.

I basically use Youtube nowadays, all the music I listen to gets uploaded there including some lesser known artists which aren't even on other platforms like Spotify. Haven't still created any playlists or anything, I'm simply aware of the channels I follow and check any updates they may have uploaded.

I use Spotify sometimes, like when I want to hear specific albums, and also to maybe discover a couple of new songs every week. It has basically come to substitute CDs for me, even more since I have none with me in my new home.

I've grown away from my MP3 altogether. I used to be almost one with it, keeping it with me whenever I went outside. But for several months now I've distanced myself from it and I don't miss it all that much, given how I have so much music right now it'd be impossible for me to compress it in a single device.

I do have Apple Music and Spotify for free. Apple
Music for being a Verizon customer and Spotify for using a friend’s AT&T account. Though my set up is basically like this.

Work- I tend to use AirPods for work so I can jam out to music while doing my job. My playlist usually consists of Soul/Funk, R&B with a bit of Old school/ Gangster hip hop and golden age rap to the side. Yes I do blare out the volume and no I’m not deaf, yet.

Car- well bought myself some nice subs for my ride and it cost me like $1200 total not including the bass boost in the trunk… my choice of music is usually soft rock (Examples be like Culture Club or Cyndi Lauper) or some Classic Western Rock like Rod Stewart or Eddie Money.

House- my headquarters. Most of my music is played through my tv using my JBL 9.1 channel soundbar and with Dolby Atmos it gives such great quality to my music. In my house the genre most used is usually Jazz/Fusion, classical, or something that gives a sense of peace around the living room, especially whenever I’m at work and not give my dog anxiety. You know, something to keep him calm through the night. One of the most played songs is “I Love Music” or anything from his Album, ahmad jamal trio.

I don’t know just a little glimpse of my music tastes and setup. I’m big on music, I feel like it gives someone a way to express themselves without having that sense of anxiety or pressure among a group or a single person. For me it shows a bit of who I am with the genres I’m listening to from old classic love songs to more rock and roll or soul music. Anything that isn’t country I guess

I primarily listen to music on Spotify, through either in-ear headphones or a bluetooth speaker. I do have a small vinyl collection, though. My girlfriend has a record player, and we started collecting after we moved into an apartment together. It does crackle at times (certain songs worse than others) so maybe we should consider getting higher quality player.

I basically listen to all my music through Spotify. If there's a remix that I really want to listen to or it's something from like a game or movie that's too new to be on Spotify then I'll go to YouTube but nearly everything that I listen to is on Spotify.

I've used spotify for the last 8 or so years, haven't used anything else since I used to use youtube wayyy back in the day.

I've had premium for the last four years, I'm not sure I could go back to using the version with ads again.

I use Youtube for mostly video game music, gotta love listening to Yakuza/Like a Dragon OST's extended to 30 minutes on repeat. Not the only video game music i listen to by its 90% of what i listen on youtube.

I do every once in awhile use Spotify (totally legit not cracked version) to listen to other songs if i feel like i'm in the mood for something other than video game music.

I pretty much exclusively listen through spotify, on my speaker setup in my room or in my car. I've been considering switching over to a digital music collection, partly due to having some qualms against streaming services and partly because I think it'd be neat to have a sort of virtual representation of my collection.
I have a decent collection of CDs, but I honestly rarely use them. Using my computer/phone is just so much more convenient. Despite this, I sometimes wish I could've grown up in the era of physical media. Having to go out and spend 10 bucks on a CD along with the ritual of putting it in a player and listening through the whole album just seems like it would've made each album that much more special. Sure, having essentially unlimited access to any music from any part of history all a few keystrokes away is a huge privilege that I'm very thankful for, but having that limitation that the dominance of physical media brought feels like it would've forced you to appreciate every album more actively rather than just passively hearing songs that you didn't have to put much thought into picking out.
But, pandora's box has already been opened now, and I'm too broke to justify abandoning spotify in favor of buying a CD of any album I wanna listen to (not to mention, many of the bands/artists I listen to are either old/obscure with rare and expensive CDs or are more modern and never released their music on CD to begin with).
