What game series have you recently started playing?
Alot of game series have been finally making sequals and bringing their company name and brand back into the spot light. But did they make you want to try the older games?

Ah its great to see so many franchises returning to the good ol spotlight again, but its also great to see those amazing odd games that make you wonder, why you never played or heard of them before?
For me the recent series that has become an almost obsession lately has been the Persona franchise.  Id heard about them before but the idea of a School sim and a dungeon crawler never really meshed in my head until Persona five made itself known.  So I watched some of the anime and now the series just wont leave my head alone.
I guess you could say that "I never saw it coming."  So now I'm a hyperactive fan of the series and wanted to know if any of you all had a similar event happen.  That new game comes out with a number five or six that just knocks you off your seat and made you try the other ones.  I guess I'm thankful that modern day lets us track down older games so much easier than it would have been years ago.  Particularly in the Japanese RPG game sense.
[Final Fantasy has how many games?  Holy SH -boom-]
This topic has also popped into my head lately thanks to my little sister actually. She was watching me play Final Fantasy 15 and we started talking about how a lot of game series are only really connected by game play like, for example, the Pokémon Series.   Sure some things are here and have been here since the start but a lot has changed.
Also on a similar sort of note, what games are on the way that you are hyper active about playing?
With so many series getting reboots, sequels, and new games... I'm excited about the future of modern gaming.

Well since I've recently started to reacquire my video game collection, I've only really been playing castlevania symphony of the night on Playstation 2. As for newer games I've been playing Azure Striker Gunvolt and Gunvolt 2 for the 3DS. Everyone should know what castlevania is by now but as for Azure Striker Gunvolt if you like megaman zero series  , and megaman zx you'll love Azure Striker Gunvolt uts basically a better version of Megaman.

Well, we could say that I just recently got into the world of King of Fighters. I never owned any game of that series, but since the fighting genre has changed to the worse (at least for me), I had to search for alternatives and games who stayed true to their roots and forgot about e-sports because casual gaming is much different than extremely competitive gaming.

I absolutely loved KOF XIV, and now I wait impatiently for the day it may see a sequel coming to life. Very few fighting games like it remain, which is another reason why I'm leaning more and more towards racing simulators or fantasy racing games, the only other genre I never get tired of. Hopefully SNK won't have us waiting a lot of time, while it's true they're a busy company they've gifted us with many KOF installments and I'm sure the next one will see the light in the next couple of years.

As for games I'm hyped to play, the only one fitting that list is SoulCalibur VI, which I'll probably get next January. Being a reboot of the original storyline and discarding most of the bad things its prequel had, the game sure sounds promising, even more when the development team announced they wouldn't take e-sports as an influence for the game, stating the game will become e-sports if the players so desire after trying the game out.

I recently started playing "The Messenger". It's a new IP that's sort of a cross between Ninja Gaiden and Metroidvanias. It's brilliant. It's funny. It's awesomesauce. Weak plot, great humor (which makes up for a large number of the weaknesses of the plot), fantastic (and quite difficult) gameplay. I went into the game thinking I was going to breeze through the first act. At first, I did. However...I beat it with somewhere near 50 deaths. Right now, my death count is around 150 (5 hours+ in), and I still have a majority of the game to go (since I'm aiming for 100%). It would be much, much lower if I was not aiming for the completionist route. That said, the game still is no slouch. It demands knowledge of the mechanics and plenty of practice.

Considering how great it's been so far, I expect there will be a sequel or spin-off game billed as a sequel. It's gotten great reviews, and it's fairly popular.

I've recently started playing the Adventure Island series. The first game on NES wasn't that good in my opinion and was mainly just a rip-off of another game that was previously released on the Sega Master System called "Wonder Boy". Although, the other games were somewhat better. I went on to play: Adventure Island 2 on NES, Adventure Island on Gameboy, Adventure Island 2 on Gameboy, and I hope to play Adventure Island 3 on NES sometime in the near future. I haven't been that impressed with the trilogy so far, but I look forward to playing more of these games. I did like Adventure Island 2 on Gameboy quite a bit, but I can't get much time to play video games with work and all. I guess Adventure Island is a decent game series, but I haven't explored it that much.

Divine Aurora : AWW yeah I loved Gunvolt, still need to play Gunvolt 2, but have you played the sorta 8 bit spin offs?  Mighty Gunvolt for 3ds and Galgunvolt on ps4 have been pretty fun
Ex Palen :  I hear a lot about Kof series fairly often, hmm.. Maybe ill check out this one and see if I like it.  Though I'm more of a Marvel vs Capcom, Street fightery type of gamer.   You do make it sounds interesting...  and yes I'm super excited for the new Soul Calibur game
Supernerd117 : The messenger huh?  Ill need to look that up. As a long time Castlevania fan [Belmont is in my name and all that jazz] I have loved metroid vanias for a long time.  Ill need to look this one up too.
Luigi25 : Yeah its always a lot of fun to find a classic game series that you never tried before.   On a semi related note I recently got a plug in play system with tons of NES style games on it.  Most of them are the usual home brew ones..  but I was showing my little sis how classic games used to be.  After watching me die and seeing me laugh about it instead of get upset she wondered why I wasn't getting frustrated.   "This is what it means to play classic games.  They have always been crazy hard.  This is what Video games used to be."  Was what I told her, while playing the Tiny Toons NES game.  "no saves, no passwords, sometimes a continue were how most games were back then.  You turned it on, and saw how far you got."

Persona is my fav series.

I just started getting into Diablo. I picked up Diablo III for PS4 on Thanksgiving and played it a bit and was shocked at how much there was to the game. Plus I really liked the cutscenes.

I would say Crash Bandicoot. I started with the 2nd game as that was my absolute favourite to play. They were a big part of my childhood hence why I got the game again on the ps4 I haven't fully completed it, but I am very close to doing that. I haven't finished because of life stuff I hope to finish it soon and move onto another game like Sonic Mania.

I started playing the Spyro Reignited Trilogy on my brother's PS4, this is the first time I have played the series in 7 years.

I mostly returned mostly because I wanted to find a game that would of held me by until Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and both Pokemon Let's Go games weren't my cups of tea, and I have basically got bored with all of the current games I had, and I'm not playing any mobile phone games because that will bore me in like 2 minutes. So I bought the game for the PS4 and played it for a couple of weeks now.

So far, I have already 120% the 1st game and 100% the 2nd game, and all I have to do is to fully complete the 3rd game in a week, and I got the entire Spyro Reignited Trilogy completed just in time for Super Smash Bros Ultimate's release.

I've recently began to get into Fire Emblem, it seems like a fun game at first Even though I'll probably rage on some moments but overall my first impression of the series is pretty good.

I just bought Persona 5 yesterday actually, and it's really good so far. I've heard a lot of good things about it and have been recommended to it by many people. I might look into the rest of the series as well if I ever get the chance to.

Like you, I've been looking at persona games, or the Megami Tensei series more specifically. There is one coming to the switch which I might pick up.

I tried playing a Disgaea game recently (5 complete), and it just didn't really click with me. I think I accidentally started playing all the extra content (as it was the "Complete") version. After like 10 hours of gameplay, it was still a chore to pick up, so I traded it in for Octopath Traveler, which is a good game!

Light Knight : Yeah, if you got D5 Complete the majority of the extra missions you see (once they get unlocked) are the DLC fighters. I honestly didn't mind their chapters, the dialogue was great but I get that if you're new to the series it doesn't make too much sense since they're all from previous Disgaea games. They got annoying after a while though. If you balance it with the actual story it's much more tolerable.

I guess this might not qualify technically since I haven't started yet but since I don't have anything recent, next on my list to play is the Danganronpa series. They're more visual novels than games but I hear that nonetheless they're excellent, so I've just been waiting to have the motivation to sit down and start.

I guess this might not qualify technically since I haven't started yet but since I don't have anything recent, next on my list to play is the Danganronpa series. They're more visual novels than games but I hear that nonetheless they're excellent, so I've just been waiting to have the motivation to sit down and start.

I very recently started playing the Kingdom Hearts series for the first time on PS4. Friends and fans alike have said a lot of good things about the series and urged me to play it, but I never got around to it. I ended up buying 1.5 + 2.5, and 2.8 for PS4, but haven't been able to play it much because of Smash Ultimate and Let's Go Pikachu. My hope is that I can finish both Kingdom Hearts games before the new one comes out at the end of January.

I'd also like to give Persona 5 and Octopath Traveler a try as well, both of them sound like excellent RPGs I'd really enjoy.

I just recently got Persona 5 and am enjoying it, so I may look into the other entries in the franchise if I ever get the chance to do so.
