So, I was checking some notifications, and I completely forgot that there were other notifications that I haven't checked. This has happened to me several times. Perhaps a new feature could be implemented where you can sort of check off which notifications you have checked so that you won't forget which ones you did or didn't check?

I like this idea a lot.

More often than not I'll get 2 or 3+ Notifications every time something new comes up, and it's easy to get distracted following up on the first one or two you feel compelled to address.

Though it would be nice to have a check-box or something where you can leave it as is, or do it as Lexatom suggested, and check them off individually as you please. Just having the option to choose is always a big plus for me anyway. That, or have a check-box that says "Mark all as read" like the PMs do, so either way it's still streamlined for those who prefer it.

I used to have this problem too, where I would forget about responding to some notifications and stuff. To solve it, I just hold the ctrl key on my keyboard and click all the links that show up in my notifications. This makes it so each notification opens up a new tab in my browser, so once I finish taking care of one, I see the multitude of open tabs and address whatever they are regarding.

It would be easier, I guess, with your proposed idea, but I encourage giving this a try if you haven't already.

I used to do what Rday said, only I did it by clicking links with the middle mouse button. I do the same on my phone by long pressing a link until it offers the option to open in a new tab. However I end up with several tabs open and forget to check half of them. :/ I would love to have the notification page set up like the PM page: only clear them as they're clicked. That would be so much help, though I could see that being bad when you get likes, especially if one post is liked many times. Still a "mark all as read" button like cox mentioned would solve that.

In short: I like the idea.

This would help a lot, or at least let notifications that you actually clicked on stop showing, because once you click on just one, they are all "read" and it's sometimes hard to backtrack which ones you haven't read yet, especially with a lot.

Yeah, having something like this would help. I've always thought about this, but never posted about it.

Lexatom : This is a great idea! I think it should be implemented as it might come in handy.

I usually just go to my notifications and open each one in a new tab with a middle mouse click, but I like the idea of being able to mark them as read or unread in case you wanted to check them later.
