Ok guys here is another topic question I wanted to do here. How often do you go to a party when invited? For me its not all the time, but I get to go when I can. I have to say not all party are good or the best some are though. There are ones I enjoy going to because of the type of music they play depending on how the DJ does it I could be on the dance floor for hours. And from that I can loose a lot of weight from dancing really. I went to one yesterday one of my aunty she is 50 years of age now. The DJ was poor and I didn't dance much because the first one kept repeating the same music track and I was annoyed. Don't get me wrong I like repeats. But, the ones that was played were ones I don't dance too. Anyways I did manage to loot some drinks so I feel happy for that. So what about you guys?

I don't go often because the only ones that I go to are the ones that are hosted by my schools and that's only twice a year maybe. I do like all the free food though, unless it's like $30 to get in but it's still usually worth it.

As rarely as I can. I absolutely hate parties of any kind, because I prefer to be alone most of the time. Seriously, my idea of the perfect vacation is going away somewhere far from home and staying in a hotel or motel for a week, only going outside to get food or something. I live an incredibly social life, I know.

So parties go against everything about my personality. I'm so much fun.

Eirinn :
Wait, what?? A talker like you doesn't enjoy being social? That's actually surprising to hear lol, though I do feel where you're coming from.

_____________________________

Back in my High School days I would go to parties pretty frequently. There would generally be at least a small-ish house party or something like that every other week or so, and I was more or less invited to more of them than not. I wasn't really much of a social person, but after a few drinks (or whatever else I had my hand into) I turn into someone who enjoys talking with people a lot more lol. It wasn't really the parties themselves I enjoyed, but the chance to hang out with / meet some of the girls who went to them, or just having an excuse to get blitzed out of my head XD

As things are now, I don't hardly go to parties at all. I've turned into quite a bit of a recluse, which is how I would prefer things to be. I'm a loner in pretty much every sense of the word, so being around groups of people just ends up being more frustrating than it is enjoyable. Plus with the lifestyle I have now, I try to avoid most parties that involve any kind of drinking or the like (excluding family events of course).

zanderlex : I think I remember you telling me before why you don't go to parties when I asked at one point. So thanks for reminding me as of why again.

Eirinn : Yeah I know....we have had convos in the past about it. My mum just wants me to go out and socialize because its not good to be cooped up in my bedroom for what like? 24 hours a day every day. So I don't really mind going I normally get free food, and drinks especially when my favourite drink is there aka supermalt. You usually encourage me to go too since at most times you don't like it also when I am in the house too much.

Mynamescox44 : Oh I see. Well I am sure other people would feel the same way as you would feel at first about parties. Most people are comfortable to stay away than to go to parties like other people would.

Once every 1.5 months. That should be what I average through a whole year, more or less.

I do like going to parties, but they burn me out a lot so I don't go out much often. Plus, I don't really enjoy it for the music (I still have to find places where my kind of music and/or artists play) so I'm out just for the fun of letting myself go and see my friends drunk.

I only go out when I really want it or I'm that bored so as to not have anything better. That explains my average and why some months I don't even go out a single day, like past October. But well, past October was because I ended up heavily drunk and my memory of it was fresh enough to compel me to stay at home

I hate public parties with a passion. In high school my friends always tried to convince me to come and I never did. I was, and still am, the most shy, antisocial person on the planet. I don't like to listen to music, I hate dancing, and I'm not interested in getting drunk/smoking/drugs so even if I went to a party I'd just awkwardly stand in the corner of the room.

Now, I have been to "private parties" or "house parties" (basically just 15-20 people chilling at someone's house) and I like those since I know roughly everyone there and there's no constant drinks on the floor/loud background music that makes conversations impossible. I've met like 90% of my female friends at such parties (because I'm wayyy too shy to even approach a girl lol)

tl;dr I only like small, private parties with like 15 friends and a few new faces, over at someone's house.

House Parties : Typically 12 to 25 people all crowd into one or two people's living space and things tend to get abysmally lame. About two or seven of the more idiotic guests try to outdo each other with how stupid they can act or how much alcohol they can drain down their throats without actually tasting that acrid stuff very much.

The hosts and the most active guests are usually losers who get easily bored with everyday life, have very little aspirations or prospects other than a steady 9 to 5 and they gather like this simply to cut their tiresome ennui down to size.

Normally you do not meet anyone who leads an interesting life at a "puke[that is the ultimate goal] party" like one of these.

They show this kind of event for domestic style parties in teen movies most often to trick the up and coming population into believing amazing, unforgettable experiences happen at these kind of events all the time when nothing could be further from the truth.

Dinner parties : Generally you or your family will have gatherings like this on a given day of the week. Even if it is not a constant ongoing thing, the set day of invitation has to be one responsible adults with other commitments can make it to. Planning one of these? Be flexible on the day and be prepared to change it if there is anyone in particular you want over for a wonderful repast and a few more hours of social time afterwards.

Most of times the inhabitants of the hosting dwelling are joined by two or more but usually no more than six dinner guests. Consideration must be given for the need to feed everyone at the table in the evening.  Plus, you wouldn't want to crowd the place and make it unmanageable. In the case of a family gathering, the invitees are generally people you have known for years dating back to earlier in life. You ought to be very comfortable with all the guests of a dinner party even if they are relatively new to you. Only the people other people really like get an invite or a chance to go to these as an invitee's significant other or relative.

As a kid, we generally do not appreciate dinner parties. As we mature, we come to see our parents wisdom in choosing respectful formality, congenial atmosphere and not allowing unrestricted access to one's own domicile. Contrast that against the "no [social] rules" attitude of a house party you may have actually attended in your twenties [ where the nastiest situations no one had the competency to fix popped up ] and the dinner party is so much better without even trying too hard. In fact, do not try too hard. Just create and maintain an atmosphere of respect where no person is expected to be wild or loutishly rude.

If the dinner party host is quite wealthy and has a much larger than normal house, they may have many more guests over because there will be more room to move about, possibility of more food and in the cases of the upper levels of wealth some kitchen staff and serving staff on hand to prepare and dole out the food.

For me, I go to a dinner party just about every month or two due to something [an occasion] always coming up every so often. Sometimes just because my mom wants to see the people that matter more regularly than she has so we cannot become strangers to each other.

I have not been to a lame[aforementioned] party in a few years. Those silly friends had to be cut loose. They were not mature.

For school dances and night clubs, make a new thread. The subject line reads "party?"

 I answered for "party".

 P3

Tote a note : I sadly could not find any image of teens and / or pre-adolescents enjoying a dinner party but I did find such young people enjoying a house party type situation.
They are making their happy faces.

Furret : I already know you told me once before, and said why as you stated in your post.

Postman3 : I know, but I like the type of parties I go to which are my African ones. There is a huge difference with that, and going to a white party as you have explained. There people see how much alcohol they can drink than the other person. For me that's not a party. For African party you actually have a good time. There is mostly soft drinks like fizzy drinks such as diet cola, fanta, water, and more I could list, there hardly is alcohol there whatsoever, and usually most people are on the dance floor for hours. I didn't enjoy the recent one I went too because of the DJ he played the same album of music for hours which got me bored. Plus he didn't play my jams. The food was great though.

Eniitan :   I would not say lameness could ever be exclusive to any particular race. You are probably mistaken.

Your perspective would not be formed by extensive experience with various people of a certain race but with the specific people who are your friends. That is probably why you are suggesting such ridiculous things.

I did not explain a "white party" at any point.  I explained a people party. An event at someone's pad somewhere in which they do not set boundaries or are even aware that those exist. I also detailed the kind of party where people sit down to a respectful meal and actually have fun because they did agree on certain boundaries without actually having to talk explicitly about them.

Neither account of each type of domestic party excluded any races or focused on any particular race or stereotype associated with any race. No. We get all people[regardless] coming to these parties and no thought is given to inviting people of one exclusive race. If that's a "white party" sign me up but only if it is the type where people are respectful and set appropriate boundaries. No sitting on laps, no screaming, no waiting in line for the bathroom and no posing for selfies[particularly not in the locked bathroom while other people wait for it].

You have it all backwards. Here is why.  http://sciencenetlinks.com/lessons/the-illusion-of-race/

Postman3 : You didn't have to go to that level of scale of what you said postman. I've seen I didn't explain clearly from my perspective. With parties everything is different, and not always how you explain then with people drinking alcohol. Yes it happens at most parties I can confirm but, not all. I avoid ones that ends in bad solution having the police come to the place because of a fight that happened in the party. You have your own opinion to do with it as of I.
Postman3 : You didn't have to go to that level of scale of what you said postman. I've seen I didn't explain clearly from my perspective. Back in Senior Year, I did party quite a bit. Now, i don't really party much- I do go to get togethers with close friends and we drink and have music and have fun or now I have bonfires at home and we drink there but, going out is just not as appealing to me though I will go out to a bar of downtown clubs a little more often next year perhaps once a month or so. Now, I just enjoy the comfort of my own home plus, parties are an hour and a half from where I live so the idea of driving back at 2am intoxicated in the highway is no longer appealing to me lol. Though there are taxis and Uber- I don't trust either one so for now, I just game and drink at home often.

jlove92 : Yeah it seems like when we were a lot more young people tended to go out, and party more. But now since we are growing up and stuff doing things changes that in a way.

sonicbros : That's the thing really mostly some parties or at most are people who are in their 20s or a bit higher. Once you hit 30 you can still consider going to parties, but it will be up to you if you still want to go. You have already explained your part to do with that so that's fine.

I'm one of the few who loves the social life on here. That makes me an outcast of sorts. I like getting in and mixing up with people, rubbing elbows and whatever else makes contact, especially on the dance floor.

Parties are different for me now since I'm married and in my 30s. The language is less coarse and we build parties around specific social events, not just hanging out to get trashed on booze and whatever people are smoking. It's dulled down but more fun since no one really has to show off for anyone else. We're comfortable with ourselves and each other.

I actually don't know what a real party is like. I mean, I'm not sure what even qualifies. If you count festivals and that sort of thing, then we go to a local annual fundraiser where there's a few small games, lot's of fried snack food, music and all that. I don't think I've ever missed a year. If that doesn't count, I went to a pizza party when I was 5 and a pool party when I was 10 or 11. Otherwise, I've never been to a party. Never knew anyone who was throwing one, so I was never invited.
