The value of a regular donation depends on how much one values a virtual currency you can get without donating.

The value of the patreon pledge depends on how much you donate, and what you want out of a donation.

I like the pledge much more, on principle.

The username border is the top/bottom underlines in a name, right? (Just double checking, sorry for the dumb question lol)

If you go for the $50 tier, would the border be the same color as your username? (For example, would it be like zanderlex's name right now where the top/bottom underlines and the username are both the same color?)

Also, once I join the tier, how would I change the username color? Do I ask you or is there some edit profile option?

Well, the more I think about it, the more I think that I might make a pledge some day. I'm not sure when, but if I do, it'll be for one of the high tiers.

Btw, I have a quick question, if I for example were to reach the 100K CP milestone next year (it will happen, trust me, I've nearly doubled my CP total this year alone) and then make a $50 or $100 pledge sometime afterward, would the increased Viz multipliers listed for the different tier levels count for someone who already has the 2x multiplier?

Ooh! This has got my attention. I have already donated $25 (or $30 due to UK's Tax). I find this to be better since I don't have to keep reminding myself to manually donate every month.

Lord Leggy - King of IT : It can be used as a 1 time thing but it still wouldn't be ideal for someone who wants quick Viz for various reasons. Pledging on Patron still requires a user to have to earn their Viz, it doesn't offer them a quick payout. But yeah, for veteran users who have more than enough Viz, this is no big deal. Plus all of the benefits of pledging kinda make Viz obsolete at the moment beyond the Marketplace (until I add more features that utilize Viz).

A recent update I made makes it so a border color is always the same color as a user's name (unless something special is causing it to be different). There was a previous bug which made the border color the color of a user's original name even if they had a special user name color.

Once you've reached the $50 tier, you get access to the option on your profile to change your name color.

gamerforlifeforever : Yeah your multiplier would still increase no matter what. So between having a very high CP count and being a top Patreon Pledger, the highest Viz multiplier a user can get is 3x.

On that note, if a user's primary goal for donation is to gain viz, then they are best served just going through the marketplace, where there are users willing to pay 6-12x the amount of Viz for the same dollar amount, there's no shortage of demand in that area.

The only reason anyone would donate, rather than use the Patreon page is one of three reasons:

1. Too lazy to cancel after one month/forget that's an option.
2. Are unaware of Patreon/Vizzed Market benefits (in the former case, you've outlined, in the latter, I have)
3. Want to donate a single one time fee to you (would do this without need for a Viz payout).

I think you will notice a sharp decrease in regular donations, but a large increase in Patreon donations. It just makes too much sense to a user to go through other means to get Viz than by donating to you. As it is, I don't think all that many people donated with the intent of a large Viz payout. I think most people did it to either get their name on a leaderboard, or to help you, personally.

From what I understood, it seemed like I was going to be charged for August immediately, and then again on the 1st of September for this upcoming month. I know it would help, but as close as I'm cutting my budget, I'd rather just wait until the 1st and then commit my pledge for that month.

Also, I had to use a debit card with Patreon, meaning the funds will be pulled directly from my bank account, and there's currently not enough in it to cover the pledge lol. (Another reason I have to wait a couple days if it does it immediately)

**If I'm wrong and it won't charge me until the 1st regardless, please let me know and I'll just do it now. Sorry for being so difficult...

Lord Leggy - King of IT : They can definitely go with the Market forum but then they gotta worry about whether the person they're dealing with is trustworthy or not. Also with donating, the Viz payout is instant and I know for a fact that there are a lot of impatient people out there.

I should also point out that Patreon doesn't support all of the payment methods that the donation page on Vizzed supports. The donation page supports Alipay and Bitcoin, both which I don't think Patreon supports. I also allow users to donate in almost any way that they can think of (for example, gamerforlifeforever donated with a $20 eShop card) but that's more manually.

Eventually I don't see people willing to give out that much Viz per a dollar as I continue to add new features or as current rich users continue to spend their Viz in the many new ways that I've opened up in the past months.

That's not necessarily true about why users donated. Around half of everyone who has donated has donated for benefits of the Retro Game Room (a lot of them wanting quick access to the PlayStation games). I agree that there will be a big decrease which is fine but there will still be donations.


Mynamescox44 : I'm pretty sure it's the 1st of every month. Every time a user pledged, I got a message letting me know not to send their reward until the 1st since that's when they'll be charged. I've been giving out the rewards anyway though.

I've added/updated the goals of my Patreon page.


$1500 = Full Time!
This would be enough to allow me to go back to working on the site full time again. If it doesn't end up being the case, this could potentially be increased to $2000 but I really think that between the site ad revenue, donations and that amount, I'd be able to cover all site expenses and work full time on the site again with no problem.

$2,000 = Money Will Be Invested!
I'll invest up to $500 back into the site each month and Patrons will have a say in how I invest it.

$2,500 = RGR Plugin Updates!
This would give me the extra budget to invest into updates for the RGR Plugin again.

$3,500 = Mobile RGR Plugin
I'll start investing money into having a mobile version of the RGR Plugin developed which will allow Android and/or iOS users to play some popular RGR systems on their device.

I went ahead and joined the $50 patron tier.

I'm very happy to help and I hope your financial situation gets much better soon.

pennylessz : Yeah I doubt I'll ever get anywhere near that amount but just incase, I made sure to let users know that'd be the budget required to start investing into a mobile RGR Plugin. I invested $30,000+ into the RGR Plugin over the course of 6+ years so I can't imagine how much a mobile version would cost to make.
