So guys we've all had it happen to us at least once, twice or a dozen of times. How annoyed or angry do you get when someone misspelled your name? Being your first or you surname. Like on thus yesterday I had to go somewhere,and this woman I swear was looking to kill at us or something. It was something to do with me so she didn't try saying my name my uncle corrected her many times and she still said the same thing. Like with no respect from her whatsoever people like that, I don't like so its like she won't respect my name? It won't stop me not to be respectful towards her if I was to see her face again. Do you know what she called me? Instead of *Eniitan* it was *Enishan* it had an H in there and I was like what the heck? I know I have been called other names, but I feel this is the worst one ever. Anyways people like that are not worth your time. So has this happened to you and if so what did they call you?

I never get annoying or angry actually... But it happens fairly often and I'm kind of used to it I guess.

I mean, everyone pronounces my name differently lol. But if it does really have a negative affect on something (which I doubt), then I will be very angry because that is simply very stupid. 

Mohammedroxx3 : I can understand if someone does it out of accident and say they will work on it. That shows respect this woman didn't which had a negative affect and got me annoyed in the first place. As you know there is a difference when someone does try and when someone doesn't try and spell your name out correctly. With you I am sure you wouldn't get too upset about it.  '-'

I have a really easy name in real life, that sounds like another one, that is pronounced like another one.

I've gotten pretty used to it over the last few years saying one of my best friends has a close to same name as mine.

It's still pretty annoying. 

Barathemos : I can imagine so people will be able to spell it right most f the years. Oh that's a surprise someone having a name close to yours. Well anyways its still annoying in a way when someone doesn't even at least try to pronounce it. I get it the first few times around they won't be able to get it, but I mean come on.....its not that much of an effort to say the name not unless its a very long name. '-'

Eniitan : well...this one is kind of funny for me XD <3 in more than one way! My name....yes I get annoyed when people don't get it right but it's always wrong 99% of the time so I've gotten used to it ever since I was 8 or so. The worst time is that I've actually been called Ericka on a postcard one and was like >> ok "ERICK" is a rare spelling for most people but "ERICKA?" that sounds like some defunked company name with the K to it. I never really get mad anymore and am just like *sigh* look at the card...meh am use to it so meh. The thing that REAALLLYYYYY pushes my buttons more so than spelling name wrong...is that my parents sometimes call me by my brothers name!! (my father more often than not but...) Like what the heck?! Did I just lose all forms of originality or am I just a copy now? I still don't get as angry as I did before but, It still urks me that after 20 years I'm still not Erick at times.

I mean really though....how does "Erick" and "Laurent" sound anywhere similar to where you'd confuse us?? I don't even look anything like him. He's skinny, his facial hair is slim, has blue eyes and more blondish hair....I'm more husky/fatter, my facial hair is like why a bear trying to be sexy with a waxed body instead of covered in fluff, and I have green/hazel eyes instead. So why am I still called out as Pillsbury dough boy with blue eyes and slimmer figure?

I get a lil annoyed >> It has a common spelling, like erick's, but it's spell way differently as apposed to Erick's one letter xD

I mean... I dont get THAT annoyed if they only had heard my name once without actually seeing it. But when I have a teacher that see's my name often or I've told someone how to spell it, It gets a lil annoying xP It happens often though. from teachers to friends to random people that need my name for something.

Half of the time, they do spell it right after I tell them. The other half, I have to tell them another or two more times before anyone gets it right

Bailey is too common of a spelling xP When if you were to spell it how it sounds, it would look more like the spelling of the name that I have.

I stopped caring about this. I just don't bother anymore. My name gets misspelled and mispronounced so much. 

My name is Yacinda. Back in elementary school, on Valentine's Day, we had to give cards to everyone in our class, and when I got my cards, my name was spelled "Yesinda" or "Yasinda." Makes a lot of sense, given the c in my name sounds like an s. Then there are people who get my name wrong and pronounce it as "Jacinda." Okay, Jacinda is a more common spelling than my own name, but still...

Then there's my nickname, "Yaci." Sometimes it's spelled as "Yacie," and I don't really care, but when people try to call me by my nickname, I get results like "Yazzy," "Jazzy," "Jacie," etc. 

Over the years, I just stopped caring. I let people call me whatever they want to call me, and that's either Yacinda or Wilson (yeah, I do have friends who call me Wilson xD )

Sorry to hear about that even though you are now used to it I thought just to say sorry because I needed too. Its sad how some people don't try you tell them and they don't then you just give up. No one mispronounces my name, I mean it's the easiest name to pronounce on the planet, but for SOME DUMB REASON people sometimes misspell it. And I don't even know why because I've NEVER seen someone with my name spelled that way. It also looks really stupid (the misspelling). And no I will not reveal what my name is :p.

ZeeTee : Yeah....and I mean my name is easy to say. Like really it is its not so hard to say it really isn't. My name is Petar. My whole life family members have pronounced the name like "Peter". This has caused some problems.

When I tell people my name and I forget to elaborate (or see no need to) they automatically assume it's spelled like "Peter". Throughout my life friends and acquaintances who knew how my name was really spelt often called  me "pee-TAR". I find that pronunciation very jarring nowadays and will correct people on it. When I got into high school teachers asked me how to really pronounce it. I give them the "official" Serbian pronunciation in such a case- "peh-TER". However, all my close friends call me "Peter" and this is the way I most prefer.

I get most annoyed when people spell my name like "Peter", though. I don't like being seen as another Peter, I am Petar (not to be egotistical).

I've never had that problem because my name is fairly simple and distinct. Well, my first name, anyway. My last name is really really uncommon, so some people have issues with it. I guess I'm comfortable disclosing my first name as long as it's not associated with my last. My name's Kevin.

Honestly though, if someone intentionally mispronounces it out of spite, it doesn't really bother me. I'm the kind of person that you can call every name in the book, as long as it's not liar. Calling me a liar can have severe repercussions.

People have always had trouble pronouncing my sister's name, though. I swear I've heard it pronounce and seen it spelled three different ways.

IStillSeeTheX : Oh dear sorry to hear about that. Its really sad when that happens, and it will annoy you. You have your rights to have people to know and how to call your name as and by. Are things a little better now? Or is it the same?

I'm probably in the top 1% of people this happens to. I have very long first and last names that are both pretty rare and on top of that have unusual spelling even for that name. It's pretty uncommon for people to actually get it right the first time they meet me. I don't really get upset though since I'm used to it and even so I think it's a pretty petty thing to be upset about anyway. Not like I can blame them for not knowing. The exception would be if someone was doing it purposely to try and mock me or something but even then I'd likely just shake it off. Most people usually just say and write a shorter version of my first name though so that works as well.

Zlinqx : I see. Ok I mean not everyone would get upset by it some others would do other things as you have explained. Still its not really nice when someone mocks your name on purpose. For people with long name they will usually like asked to be called by their shorter name since it would be as you know easier to say. '-'

My name gets misspelled all the time. It's not really a long name or anything, and my name is the Biblical version of the name. Most people spell it wrong the first time, and keep misspelling it over and over, lol. Even people who've known me for a very long still manage to misspell my name badly. It's even worse when they can't even stick with one spelling, they keep changing the mistake to a different one! The thing is, not many people spell it right the first time, but literally everyone can pronounce it the right way. To actually answer your question, I get annoyed sometimes when it's misspelled, but that's only when it's really bad. If they only get one letter wrong or spell a different version of my name, then I don't really mind. I only really get annoyed if they mess it up really bad, lol.
