So....

I've gotten a lot of reactions on Vizzed and privately to my recent change of avatar on Vizzed. Needless to say I was a bit shocked by this.

Honestly, I just felt like changing it the other day and did not expect so many people to complain or ask why.

I'm not really committed to the new avatar. I've changed it at least 3 times since the initial change. So, if people want it back.... just let me know! Simple as that.

I'd like to see you bring back the blob. It's been a part of your identity for as long as I can remember. I can understand why you changed your avatar, but the blob's much better.

My opinion is that it should be your choice. People will get use to your new avatar if you choose to keep it.

I won't say Yes or No either way. I'm probably too new to understand why people don't want it to change. I think it should be entirely up to you though. Do whatever you feel you need / want to. Despite nostalgia, change isn't a bad thing, and is inevitable in the end.

At least it seems you're asking for the right reasons. Gotta have respect for that.

You've been using that avatar for as long as I've known you. I've never known you to use a different avatar. And just for some nostalgia so that others can see just how far back you and that user pic go, here's the oldest archive I could find of your profile:

There's no one else who has a more iconic user picture than you do so I'd say go back. Or at very least, do variations of a user picture that still involves the blob.

Like David pointed out, the blob was iconic. You've been using that picture for nearly a decade, so most users automatically relate the blob with you.

I understand why you wanted to change it, and no one can forbid you from changing it, but icons are icons and it's always sad to see them go. I honestly was surprised that you changed it after so many years, but the final call is always yours. Green blob or handsome character, geeo will always be our green blob geeo.

I think you should get a rainbow blub because you won TdV.

I saw and never questioned why. I was surprised I was temped to ask why. But I sensed you wanted to change it. Since having the blob for many years. Its up to you geeo but no matter what you change your profile pic or layout, you'll still forever be the green blob we forever come to know.

I'm sort of used to it, since i registered here and became active in December 2015. So i would absolutely say 'yes'. I like it's eyes too. Lol
But seriously, it fits you. I think it needs to return.

The blob is kind of like David's avatar. We just know you by the avatar, and it's weird to see something else.

I'd keep the blob, it's just what you use.

The blob has become kind of synonymous with you since you've had it for so long. Especially after having the geeo art thread so I'd say that's probably why many people have a hard time seeing you with another profile picture.

Ultimately I'd say do whatever you want. People would get used to the new avatar eventually. If you don't mind though then I think most people would prefer you change it back or change it to something including the blob but that looks different. Kind of like one of the geeo art thread submissions.

That blob is synonymous with you, geeo. It's more than a little weird or new for other people to see a new avatar for you, like it might be if I just changed my avatar. As I said before, there's an art thread dedicated to the blob. Heck, I even found the game that's totally tells your life story :v. So I vote for bringing the blob back.

Of course, in the end it's your choice. I think having a rainbow blob or another variation of the blob if you feel like having a new or at least fresh avatar would be just fine, but that's just me.

That blob IS you! And since you haven't been too committed to the new ones, I don't see why not change it back. Hey, maybe now and then you could have rare other-colored blobs.

We've established that most if not all of us love the Green Blob, so by this point, it should be obvious that no matter what new avatar you change to, most of us will probably still think of you as the Green Blob. This is by no means saying that you can't change your avatar or that it wouldn't matter; on the contrary, it's supposed to reassure you that you can keep changing your avatar for as long as you want until you find another one just as iconic as your Green Blob, and you won't need to fear that anyone will forget your Green Blob while you're at it. After so many years, if it's a relief to you to see something different for your own avatar, then there should be nothing stopping you from making those changes, even if those changes end up being temporary and you decide to return to the Green Blob time and again.

I guess I'll go ahead and admit that I'd been looking forward to seeing what you'd come up with each day ever since I noticed that you'd been changing your avatar every few days or so. I won't guess at why you changed your pic, but I thought it would be pretty awesome if you could find another avatar to match your Green Blob in terms of how iconic it eventually becomes. If you can find one, awesome. If you can't, then there's nothing wrong with returning to the Green Blob and trying for one again later. After all, it takes time to find/make suitable new avatars, so if you don't want to stop trying after only a week, by all means, keep going. ^^

Because of this, I chose to abstain from voting.

Just as a side note, sometimes, rather than removing my avatar completely, I'll move it (or a variation) to the Custom Title Pic or a Layout. (E.g. I used to post with a Layout of Yuna but now I just have a tiny gif of her in my Custom Title Pic. It still gets the point across though, and I don't get questions about why I don't use a pic of Yuna instead of Motoko Kusanagi.) Perhaps doing something similar might work for you in this case?

Finally, from an artistic standpoint (I hope you won't take offense or anything since you probably already know all this), it might be easier to get an avatar that's not as pixelated/blurry if the original pic is larger before you crop it or if it already had a pretty high resolution to begin with. Sometimes, it's worth trying TinEye Reverse Image Search to see if you can get a higher resolution or larger version of your pic.

I cannot really say much on the subject as I am new here.

However. If you felt it was time for change then you should stick to the avatar you have chosen now. For me ignoring change can make people ignorant of the present and future and to only look back into the past.

Why look back on old memories constantly when you can make new ones!

Okay I voted no simply because I figure hey, if the man felt like changing his userpic, he should do it. Not anyone else's business really.

Now honestly I can see why others were shocked, I mean that blob IS geeo to us since Vizzed users don't tend to use pictures of themselves too often (I've seen maybe four or five that do in the time that I've been here) and so we associate userpic and/or layouts with one another instead. Still, there's no reason you shouldn't change it if you want to try new user pics.


Also, I had images disabled in my browser the other day, so if you had already removed the blob before I mentioned it in that message...whoops. Now I get the confusion. Lol

I pretty much 100 percent agree with Eirinn.

Although the blob will pretty much come back if the Polls say anything, I voted no for the exact reasons Eirinn stated.
