I used to physically buy video games from gamestop often, but nowadays with apparently more less of my favorite games being available in stores, it's via gift card. I find it more convenient.

It really all comes down to whether Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft is having a sale at the moment or if the retailer is having one. If the retailer is having one then I will go down there and purchase the game however if Sony, Nintendo, or Microsoft is having a sale I'll just run down to the nearest pharmacy to purchase a card to make digital purchases. With that in mind if I do buy games with a card it does take a very long time to download a majority of the games. So honestly I prefer to just buy the games from retailers rather than cards.

austipokedude : A fair point. I'm currently only associated with sony games at the moment. Although I rarely see sales around the market on my psp vita, I still choose to buy games via gift card nevertheless. Mainly because whenever I go to gamestop to get a game all the ones I would like to have are gone in the vita section.

You mean online vs physical? Gift cards are for physical stores too. I only use gift cards to buy games but I go into a game stop and buy the games.

I still prefer physical copies of games.
Yea, they take up a lot of space, but they are so much nicer to display, and on console, it doesn't use up all my hdd space. ^^;

I tend to buy games from stores. I don't ever receive gift cards from anyone (at least not for gaming) so I always buy things with cash. The only thing I use cards for is PlayStation Network, but that's extremely few and far between. I would much rather have a physical copy of a game to begin with.

Most of the time, I will buy my games digitally. Honestly, I can't seem to remember the last time I physically bought a game.

I usually buy the physical copies of games because it can show the huge collection of games I have purchased over the years, and I want to see myself like 10+ years from now and see these games I bought and tell myself "I remember getting this game", plus I like buying the games the traditional way. Although if it's a digital-exclusive games that I like, then I'll go buy either a PSN card or Nintendo eShop card.

zanderlex : I got a $50 gift card from GameStop back on Christmas 2014 and I took it to GameStop the following day and got Super Smash Bros on the 3DS. So yes, gift cards are also for traditional purchases as well.

I always buy physical copies of my video games. Maybe it's the collector in me, but I enjoy having something tangible that I can own.

When I buy a video game gift card or any gift card for that matter, I usually get it from Kroger because of them fuel points.

I always buy my video games in a store, mostly at GameStop. I sometimes use a gift card but I think I've only done that twice. My gift cards get used up easily because I usually have to use all the money on it and more just to buy one game! :/ I never buy my games online. I prefer to buy it in a physical store because it's a cooler experience that way!

I would rather buy it from the store ,or if I can't from there buy it online since it would be the easiest way. I'm not fond of the gift card ones so I don't buy them since I feel and think they are limited in a way for a certain points to get the game, that you want. So I wouldn't really get a gift card for that reason. It works well for some people while some others it doesn't. So people get the games in the most efficient way possible that is generally easier for them.

Before I got my PS4 and PS Vita I bought exclusively from a local GameXchange because they have insane deals on PS2 games (I can pick up three PS2 games for as little as $10 there, sometimes even less actually). But once I got a PS4 and PS Vita I switched to buying almost exclusively from Amazon, and since I have no credit card I use gift cards for that. I buy from Amazon because I can get better deals there for current system games. When I finally get a PS3 I'll shop at GameXchange a little more again.
