Hello everyone!

I don't know how many of you that actually remembers me but, I'm 0ddie. I think it's been, like, almost two years since I've been online now.

Almost two years ago I was diagnosed with leukemia. Back then I had dropped out of school and was heading down a dark path. Lot's of partying and bad things happened. Nothing that I am proud of today, I feel like I wasted three years of my life doing absolutely nothing.

When I was diagnosed my life changed entirely. I fully realized what I was doing to myself and everyone around me. The cancer helped me to break free from all my "friends" and from the life I was living. I'm certain that if it wasn't for the cancer I would have been dead today. Sometimes tragedies turn into miracles.

Since I was diagnosed I've gone through numerous treatments and had a lot of chemotherapy, and I'm still not finished. In November will my treatments be finished and I will know for certain if the cancer is really gone. Today I'm studying again and enjoying life to the fullest. I've found myself again and since I've always wanted to be a scientist, that's what I'm aiming for.

0ddie : Like I said on chat before its really great to have you back. I know before we spoke on the board with you replying to some or most of my old threads that interested you. We were not friends at that time, but I knew you were a great person anyway. I was in shock to see your name early this morning. And before I knew it. You came to the chat. Only me and youshi knew you. But mainly me and youshi were talking to you. That's some illness your fighting. Maybe I should tell you about mine. After all its not easy and you just gotta strive through things no matter how bad it seems. I look forward to talking to you again on the board. See you around.

I don't know who you are, but I can somehow relate to your story.

Six years ago I was in such a depression that I didn't even care if I lived or died anymore. The depression was caused by a ceaseless stomach ache that nobody could discover the root of. Such pain, coupled with the crappy life situation I had both in and out of school, dynamited my mind. In a desperate attempt to get an answer, my doctor suggested going to the ER and see what could they find. The result was Crohn's disease, much less worse than yours but still a pain to deal with.

Until approximately last year I couldn't feel completely alright, but I did open my eyes. I started making real friends, I started going out on parties, simply being a normal youngster at last. I underwent many treatments, and only the last one seems to have worked good, so much so that I'm starting to get lower doses. Like you, these years have served me to find myself, and I can finally plan ahead and craft my own future.

0ddie : YOU'RE REALLY BACK!!! I am so happy to see you're back. I had been praying for you every now and then since you left. I wasn't sure what had happened.

I am really glad you are nearly cancer free. Let's hope you stay that way. And it's good to hear you cut "friends" like that out of your life. You're better off because of it. Science is a really interesting field to go into. Maybe you'll make a breakthrough one day!

awwwww, that's soooo wonderful!  I'm so happy to hear from you!  I totally recognize and remember you, but I'll admit that it does NOT feel like 2 years since you've been gone. WOW.. time really does fly, doesn't it!

Your post made me tear up a little, 'cause I totally know what you mean. Some tragedies DO indeed turn out for the better good.  I myself experienced one and it made me a much, much better person. I hated going through it, but without it I fear the path I would have taken as well.

15/16ish is a young age to get into the life of partying and other unsavory things, too! I'm so glad you were able to overcome your obstacles and start enjoying your life again.  Stories like these are ALWAYS the best to hear.  Thank you for putting a huge smile on my face.

I really appreciate it! I've missed you all and this community so much. I'm happy to see that vizzed is just as friendly and welcoming as it was a couple of years ago. I know that a lot of people on here has been through tough situations and that we together can help and motivate each other to move on. <3

Well I've already posted in one of your threads, but I do remember you, even though we never really spoken directly. I knew you hadn't posted in a long time, so I was glad to see you active again, though I didn't know why you had become inactive.

It's really great to hear the good news in your post, and I'll definitely be praying for you to beat this thing entirely. This stuff doesn't stand a chance.
