So this thread is pretty simple. Post your favorite book, and recommend a book to everybody. Just make sure to follow the site rules.

I'll start.

My favorite book would be The Hobbit. Although I also love 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. As well as It's a tie between them all, I suppose.

So, what are you all waiting for? What's your favorite book or books?

I'm not sure what my favorite book is, actually (although my peers would probably expect the answer to be The Book of Mormon...I suppose that might be the truth, actually.   )

My favourite book is probably A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. I can feel the eyebrows raising from here.

But see, the novel actually offers very insightful views into issues like morality and crime. I first read it when I was 14 and I was entranced by its message and structure.

I can feel my family's eyes boring into the back of my neck every time I crack it open, but that's the price you pay for reading great literature (insert pretentious 15-year-old joke here).

My favorite books would need to be a bunch that are in the 39 clues series, which include the final book of the 2nd series (Day of Doom) as well as the first book of the 3rd series.

Oh my. Favorite book, that's a tough question. Well, being honest, for me, favorite anything is just a tough question.

Lord of the Ring series is amazing. Harry Potter is marvelous. Pendragon is also really good.

Those are all series, however. As for a single favorite book, I still can't tell you. Madame Bovary is one I enjoy a lot while I read it. Around The World In Eighty Days, I, Robot, any book by Lovecraft and Isaac Isamov are also stuff I'd recommend, I do enjoy those as well.

My favorite book is currently the Maze Runner series. Every page is described in vivid detail and you're really able to form a strong connection with Thomas and the other characters (at least in my experience). It's a shame that the second movie wasn't the slightest bit true to what happened in the second book as far as the situation and scenario go. To be expected in some cases I suppose. As far as classics go, it is a toss up between Macbeth and Hamlet. Both are excellent works of Shakespeare that I've had the pleasure of reading for English this year.

There are many other books I greatly enjoy like the Harry Potter series and Gulliver's Travels, but the aforementioned books are the most notable. 

I think my favorite book would have to be "Flowers for Algernon" It's so sad I can't help but love it.
I really liked the "Artemis Fowl" series as well. I read both for school at one point.

I would reccomend the Warrior's series, its my favorite book series to date and its one of the only books I've read fully and still want to read it. So yeah that's my favorite book series.

I rarely read books anymore. (not since school anyway) Out of the books I have read, the Harry Potter series would probably have to be my favorites. I also enjoyed reading the Maximum Ride series, which got me into author James Patterson.

I haven't read in awhile, but when I'm in the mood I still go back to John Saul. Anything. That man is amazing. 

EDIT; if I have to choose one, I guess it'd be Suffer The Children. 

And Then There Were None, by Agatha Christie.

I must say that book is the best of its genre, and of course the best creation of Agatha Christie. I read it not long ago, and I was so shocked to see how the plot evolved and how it came to an end. The fact you didn't get to know nothing about the murder until well into the epilogue is simply amazing.

I should also mention the trilogy "El Ejército Negro" (The Dark Army, rough translation). I got so attached to it that I read it even during boring classes, and also finished the first two books before the third one was released, meaning the very first and currently last time I've waited for a book to be published. I don't know if it ever got an English translation or made it overseas, but it's definitely something very interesting to read, and I wouldn't mind having a movie or a trilogy inspired by its story, it has very good potential.

A user of this :   My favorite books so far would be The Legend of Huma by Richard A. Knaak, or the Heroes of the Lance trilogy, The Meetings Sextet (6 part series...has noting to do with sex)  Anything involving Raistlin Majere or anything written by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman

You're asking something that is impossible from me. I do not have any favorite book, as there are too many for me to count!

However, I thought you guys should check the book called "I Will Save You" by Matt de la Pena. It's actually a very interesting story about a boy and his friends escaping from group home to travel to Mexico, but many events occurred and so the boy was facing a lot of... strange challenges.

There's also "Ball Don't Lie" and "We Were Here", both wrote by same author. I promise you, those books will have you scratching your head before you could understand what's going on.

"Purely" fictional: the Phantom of the Opera. The book was written in such a way that it seemed that the story actually happened; like a police report. How the Phantom was able to woe Christine into helping her becoming the main star of the opera was simply spectacular.

"Semi" fictional: Atlas Shrugged. It is VERY heavy content (over 1200 pages) but what is written in this book is even more prophetic than Orwell's 1984. You literally see government passing laws in order to stop the free market and crushing competition for its cronies.

Non-fiction: It was never really in a book, but what Frédéric Bastiat wrote still makes sense today. Very few people have made economic fallacies so accessible to the layman, from the broken window fallacy to the petition of the candle makers to block... the sun

Man, no one I've every talked to knows about my favorite book. Dragon Sword and Wind Child, by Noriko Ogiwara. It was the first full length novel I had ever read, and I checked it out from my school's library, for some Accelerated Reader program. I was going to try to cheat my way through the timed test (I know, I wasn't a very good student! XD), by skimming over most things, and remembering important story stuff. But then I started to read it, and it was the first time I started to imagine the people and places as I read their descriptions, and to this day, I still remember them vividly. It was the first book that sparked my love for reading. I always wanted to buy the book after graduation, but no book stores every had it. So, eventually I just ordered it online, and now it's one of my most read books, but in still good condition, I treat my treasures well. XD

Apart from that, the Dune series by Frank Herbert is one of my favorites. The Twelve Kingdoms books, written by Fuyumi Ono, is the only book that had me in tears, and not even in a sad part, it was a happy one. They made an anime out of it, which is still pretty fantastic, but the books really get into every character, in much more depth. Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, also fantastic. And, like, tons of others... XD

Really? Again? : I could never get into the Hobbit/LOTR. I watched all of the Hobbit movies and the first LOTR movie, and I liked them, but I just could never bring myself to read any of the books and I don't know why. I tried once for The Hobbit and got bored after like 5 pages.

zanderlex : Tolkien does have a habit of making unnecessarily long descriptions for things, but I think where he shines in the poems and dialogue. Like, the entire scene of confronting Saruman had me stuck in the book, even re-reading the entire scene, it was done so masterfully. They mention something in the book, that I don't think was even hinted at in the movie. Saruman has this spell that he subtly casts while you talk to him, and what it does is makes you start to sympathize with him, and start to agree with him. Even to the point to where if anyone speaks out against Saruman, you start to hate that person, even if he's your friend, because of the way his spell works. That, to me, was just so awesome. So, yeah, he can write two pages of what the Shire looks like, but all of his interactions between his characters are so very well written.

Really? Again? : Eh, I know it's good and all but I'll probably end up sticking to the movies over the books.

I absolutely loved reading the Warrior Cats series by Erin Hunter (1-6, could never really get into the other books). Kingdom Keepers was good too. I loved Disney After Dark (from Kingdom Keepers) the most.

Oh that's tough. I'd have to say either Confessions of a Mask by Yukio Mishima or  Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller, but I love so many books it's almost impossible to have a favorite.
