Okay so it was going to be done eventually, so why not by me?

mrfe : Your idea is stupid, man. Just sayin'.

Seriously though, I just finished a game on my PS Vita called Nihilumbra. That game is beyond amazing. I can't put into words great the experience of playing that game was. And it isn't the fun factor of the game that makes me say that (though it is fun), but the story and concept, the meaning behind the game. From the very beginning you'll be aware that there is something deep about this game's narration. At it's core the game is about what it is to be alive. That's a big topic for a four hour game to tackle, but it does so very well. This game actually changed my outlook on life, and I'm not the only one saying that, I have so far found several user reviews saying the same, and even one person claiming it saved his life (doubtless from thoughts of suicide. Play and you'll understand). This game left me with the feeling that everyone needs to play it.

But I'll rave about that game later. I'm curious: what game have you played recently that really stood out to you for whatever reason? Something that made you say "Every person needs to play this game at some point in their life."?

EDIT: Wow, two likes and twenty+ views in less than ten minutes? Clearly the secret to a popular thread is giving it a title that insults mrfe's intelligence.

Yes, actually.

Braid, taken at face value, is great. And the story is pretty neat too.

Then after that, take in the true meaning of the story, and it's also great.
But there are certain philosophical elements of the game that you might closely identify with. Some of which I will give quotes to.

"Our world, with its rules of causality, has trained us to be miserly with forgiveness. By forgiving too readily, we can be badly hurt. But if we've learned from a mistake and become better for it, shouldn't we be rewarded for the learning, rather than punished for the mistake?"

I try to treat most things like that, for the sole fact that I'd know I would want others to treat me that way. Do unto them as you would have them do unto you and whatnot.

Another one voices my opinion on my dads silliness.

"Visiting his parents' home for a holiday meal, Tim felt as though he had regressed to those long-ago years when he lived under their roof, oppressed by their insistence on upholding strange values which, to him, were meaningless. Back then, bickering would erupt over drops of gravy spilt onto the tablecloth."

And how I feel about being smart enough for people not to manipulate me with things I desire
"Tim needed to be non-manipulable. He needed a hope of transcendence. He needed, sometimes, to be immune to the Princess's caring touch."

And one about my personality
"Tim begins to hide the ring in his pocket. But he can hardly bear it - too long tucked away, that part of him might suffocate."

The ring represents his connection with the princess, which could be considered either the work of his life or the other half, his soul mate. But the thing is, my dad always tells me that he wants to know what goes on in my head, he wants to get to know me, he wants to talk more, yet any time I ever let him know how exactly how I am, he immediately turns away and doesn't want it.

I have to hide my personality in my pocket, but that part of me might suffocate.

Which is why I use the internet. People listen here, they can't interrupt you or talk over you with yelling.

They just understand, and understanding is the key to everything in this world.
Note: by this world, I mean this world. Anything spiritual I can understand not being able to understand.

So by playing braid, you'll discover something about yourself, something about romance, and something about the struggles of a scientist flirting closely with the death of the world.

Gish darn it dude, you got my hopes up with that title. You're fired!

This is the pS+ game for January right? There are three free games for this month and I might want to try all of them but i won't be able to until I delete freedom wars for the space so I wont be able to play It for a while.

Everybody has to play Subnautica, it's amazing and so unique. It's a ocean survival game that takes place on another world and theres so much to do.

yoshirulez! : Now I want to play Braid. I love a deep tale, especially the ones that you have to look beyond the surface of to see what it really wants to tell you. Games like those prove that games can be true art.

zanderlex : Yes, it was a free PS+ game this month, but why would anyone delete Freedom Wars?? :o lol Either way, be sure to grab it so you don't lose it before the month ends, and just download it when you're ready. You really don't want to miss this one. I took a screenshot of every comment that I felt was worth remembering (well most comments. I skipped some that were) and I ended up with roughly 135 screenshots. Lol

Also Subnautica? Is it horror, or more like Don't Starve's survival theme?

Eirinn : It's less of Don't Starve and more of Rust/The Forest/7 Days to Die.

Fine, ill keep it but you'll need to spot me an extra memory stick.

This thread has been removed for violation of rules 1-3.  Have a nice day!

OK in seriousness now, I feel there should be a sequel titled "Why mrfe's idea is smart".

zanderlex : I have no idea what any of those games are, so I'll take your word for it. Lol Also I seriously do have an extra memory card lying around. Two actually. A 4GB and an 8GB. I got the 4GB for my nephew but shortly after bought myself a 64GB and so had my initial 4GB card freed up. Then I got a PSTV bundle for Christmas that came with an 8GB card.

supernerd117 : Wait! You forgot to say "That post is number two!" D: Back up and let's try it again...as for mrfe's idea being smart...have you heard it yet?? I mean I haven't heard it either, but he's guilty until proven innocent.

mrfe : get in here and give us a reply or thread so we can decide who's right: supernerd or the amazing, handsome, intelligent, handsome, awesome, handsome, witty, and don't forget handsome, Eirinn.

zanderlex : I'll talk to you about it in PM. I really don't mind giving it to you even, if you could cover the mailing costs.

supernerd117 : Unfortunately, no. Opinions must come from Irishmen or other non merfites, and one cannot use their own opinion to back their opinion. So go the laws on merf idea knowledge judging. Sorry.

mrfe : Can you back me up here?
