I got bored again and couldn't find some threads to post in. So....during Christmas time or close to it. Your local places puts up Christmas lights right? And people do it on their houses as well. Do you take the time to go out and see them? I used too in the past it used to be a daily thing. My family and I would go into the city to see the most beautiful Christmas lights to be ever seen. I miss doing it because it used to be a daily thing. And whenever I do see some in local places or on houses it fills me up with happiness for Christmas. So what about you?

In Sweden or at least in Malmö the town I live in, they're typically pretty good with decorating crowded public places putting up christmas trees and lights and other decorations which really does help make the overall mood feel more christmassy and is something I at least appreciate. I don't really go out of my way to see them (since the places with the most lights are far away enough to where I'd have to walk for a while to get there) but I typically pass by those places for one reason or another even when going to the mall and shopping for gifts and those times I might take a while to just walk around enjoying the sight and looking at deocrations especially when it gets dark which makes it look really great if I do say so myself. Though I do feel like something is missing since it hasn't snowed and it doesn't completely feel like christmas without it for me, lights or not.

Nobody really decorates their houses with lights in my neighborhood. People just get a plastic tree and decorate that and that's about it.

Furret : It's about the same thing as well here. Anymore you see anyone even decorate for Christmas, mostly because it cost a little too much money to have decorations up for just a month. I even remember when I was little, my house was loaded with Christmas decorations outside, but nowadays, we don't have any lights up. It saddens me at a point though.

There are some parks and the zoo that all put up lights during Christmas. We don't usually go all that often because by the time the lights are up it is quite cold at night and I don't want to take young kids out in that if it can be avoided.

Still, we will take the kids out more often once our youngest is a bit older and can stand the weather a bit better.

Since the majority of my neighborhood is populated by grinches and scrooges, my family likes to drive to nearby neighborhoods to check out the lights they put up. There is one neighborhood in particular where almost every house has an elaborate display of lights and decorations all across their yards. 

At the end of this neighborhood is a house that has their own music playing on a radio station and it is all synced up to the alternating light display in their yard. It's nice that some people actually put in the effort to go all out like that during the holidays. It's a break from the pitch black darkness I've become accustomed to in my neighborhood.

I saw a couple LED lights on the other street. The blue colors were quite nice. And there were a couple of nice houses with white unblinking lights which were pretty.

There's a park a good distance away that my family visits every year. It has a pretty cool light display that you drive through. I love going to it every year! Some years they even include new stuff, which is awesome. The rest of it has been there my entire life. lol

While I don't exactly Go directly at the parts, I notice the christmas lights and everything else from far away where I live.



There mainly my neighbor's lights, and while I take out the trash at night I also get to see this huge christmas tree parked up with stars, and lots and lots of decorations.


So yes I love going out to see the christmas lights, they always put me in a good mood.

The story goes that there was this guy who worked on light displays for Disney's Light Parade, in the past. He either got fired or quit, and he got most of his neighbors to collaborate with him. The guy programmed the lights to music you can listen to on the radio as you drive or walk by. It's really cool and the music fits remarkably!
