Great Scott! For those of you that may not know, today is a big day for fans of the "Back to the Future" Movie trilogy.

The reason October 21st 2015 at 1:23pm pacific is significant is because that is the date that Doc and Marty travel into the future in the 2nd movie to fix Marty's family issues.

So From now on, every time you watch this movie and they travel into the "Future" it's actually now the past.

I remember as a kid when this movie came out....2015 sounded so far in the future. Now that it's here, I'm still wondering where my self lacing Nikes are and my Hoverboard. People were also thinking that the movie somehow predicted a Cubs run to the World Series, but it seems like that pipe dream will be over soon since they are now down 0-3

So what are some of your favorite memories of the movie trilogy, or this day?

This is "heavy" doc! I'm gonna have to lie down.

I'm a huge fan of those movies and I knew that this year was the year they had traveled to but I had no idea what day it was. Pretty cool though that today is that day and it's definitely interesting the way you put it how their future is now our past lol. If I wasn't so busy today, I'd probably set aside time to watch the movies.

I definitely want to get the blu-ray trilogy, I actually haven't seen the movies in at least 10 years. I've seen bits and pieces of them when they've been on TV while scrolling for something to watch but I haven't sat through any of them in a long time. It is crazy though how 2015 seemed so far away back when I use to watch this in the 90s and I probably did think we'd have the technology once 2015 came by.

Some of the predictions in that movie were pretty close to being accurate though (even if some were done because of the movie). The technology of hover boards have really been advancing lately and I've heard that Nike is releasing self tying shoes sometime this year. Pepsi will be releasing Pepsi Perfect at some point and I could easily see them producing cars that are capable of flying within a few years.

Other predictions that definitely came true from what I can remember from the movie are hands free gaming (except it's not a trend lol), video conferencing, people wearing 3D glasses to watch TV (also not really a trend) and probably other things I'm forgetting.

Davideo7 : Yeah, it's actually really crazy how many of the small things from the movie that you don't think about as much that were pretty close to right on the money. Like the flatscreen TV, and several of the things you mentioned.

Nike had already released a Nike Mag Force prototype that matched the ones in the movie sans self-lacing function awhile back for a charity function. The shoes went for THOUSANDS of dollars. Sadly I did not have the money at the time. So hopefully this time around when they release the self lacing ones, I can pick up a pair. I heard about the pepsi perfect, but it's just an expensive prop since all it is is pepsi in a bottle to make it look like it did in the movie.

I've been waiting for this day for many years. I'm a HUGE fan of the trilogy. I've seen the movies so many times that I couldn't even attempt at an estimate. Sadly, with work demands I didn't have time to plan a huge "Back to the Future" party. I will be getting the BluRays though since I have the movies on every medium since.

I wanted to go to the theaters in the area that are all doing a marathon of all 3 movies but it doesn't start till 5pm and I have a ton of stuff going on tonight.

Jordanv78 : Lexus also invented a hoverboard.  Its abilities are limited (it works by emitting gas and through magnetism), but it does exist.  I've seen a few vids about it, and it looks cool.

Jordanv78 : At Comic Con, there was a booth giving out free energy drinks and they had a competition where a bunch of people could win a free hoverboard. I was one of the people who won and we had to go back to the booth at the very end of the final day to claim it which is where they broke the news to the 30 of us winners that the hoverboards didn't actually exist.

I had mostly watched the 3rd episode (it aired on a local equivalent of HBO so my parents recorded it), but I do remember the 2nd episode. We have actually achieved quite a bit since that time: we have video phones, the hover board is in full expansion, 3D movies are now more popular than ever... and the Cubs might actually win the World Series!

janus : The Cubs winning the World Series is actually something I discussed with my friend today. Today is the day that the paper said they won, but it's also Ironic because they play tonight, and if they lose, then it's the complete opposite because they are eliminated. Yet if they win, it could be a turning point that could lead them to more wins.

Also, I think back then, the Baseball playoffs only had 2 rounds, so on this day when the movie was made, the World Series was already done.

supernerd117 : I've actually seen different variations of a hoverboard over the years, but almost all of them have been these huge big bulky things, nothing as cool as the ones in B2TF2. I also know they came out with a magnet prop type hoverboard that works in conjunction with a magnet stand, but nothing I could actually feasibly own and ride ;-)

janus : It always amazes me that there are people in this world that haven't seen all the Back to the Future movies. Especially the first two. The entire trilogy is one of the best of all time and certainly are something that any fan of sci fi fan or just fans of great entertaining movies should watch.

I read though that Pepsi perfect is just regular pepsi with regular sugar. Like the Pepsi throwback they released a few times in limited quantity. Just has the cool "futuristic" bottle look.

zanderlex : Cubs are going to need a sports "miracle" to come back, but the Red Sox proved it could be done like 10 years ago.

My favorite moment would have to be the part where George KO's Biff with a punch! That jerk totally deserved it! Definitely my favorite moment in the whole trilogy. I've never been big into that trilogy, but that moment was definitely worth waiting for.

Jordanv78 : Every played the latest Back to the Future game by any chance? I was thinking about getting it since it was recently released on the Xbox One but didn't know if it was worth the investment or not. I do know that it has some of the original voice actors which is pretty cool.

Davideo7 : The Telltale games point and click adventure? I have not, but I did track the game online through it's development. I was interested in it because it was Back to the Future. I've heard good things overall about it. I don't don't play point and click games very much these days. I'll probably find it on sale somewhere and buy it.

SuperCrash64 : Back to the Future has one of the biggest followings of any movie trilogy, so the movie has a ton of fans. I personally grew up loving them as a child and remember going to see the 2nd and 3rd movie for the first time at the drive in with my parents. I've always been a big fan.

Jordanv78 : I also highly recommend the Telltale game! I have all five episodes and I loved it! It really felt like I was playing a true continuation of the movies!

Davideo7 : I personally wouldn't say its worth it unless you really want to keep it sealed and store it somewhere as a collectible, and from what I have seen, it's going to cost a whole $20. Defiently not worth it at all if you just want to drink it. I also think there was only going to be like 1000 of them.

I was kinda suprised last night. I caught the opening monologue of Conan last night and he was talking about how he didn't realize that movies like Back to the Future and Goonies had such a huge cult following. Basically saying that he wasn't a kid when the movies came out...but was he living under a rock or something?

I mean I consider the Back to the Future trilogy to be some of the greatest movies in my lifetime. Sure it's funny and campy, but it's a huge factor and influence, not just on fans watching, but also the whole SciFi genre.

Yeah, that certainly didn't turn out the way Cubs fans wanted. Truth is though I mean they've gone almost 110 years now without a WS title, so counting on them to win at any point is probably getting your hopes up too high.
