I started my first job today! I am working as a dishwasher at my College. I don't know if this is good or bad, but I have no problem touching, smelling, or seeing food that looks gross, like a pan of grease or old clam chowder soup. I am immune to bad smells, and I have successfully gone more than a year without throwing up once. Sorry, that's probably TMI.

Anyway, what was your first job experience, and how did your first day go? Was it difficult? Did you feel excited? If you are too young to have a job, has a parent ever let you help with a job? Do you have an Uncle or cousin who always has a job for you when you visit them, and maybe even pays you for it?

My first job was working at a greenhouse for the Parks Department over the summer like 4 years ago. My high school got it for me as part of a requirement to graduate and I liked it. It was cool, got to water all of the plants, make a few new friends, do a lot of carrying, etc. We even went around to city parks to do work for them.

I worked some small short term summer jobs all the way back when I was 14, but my first permanent job with regular hours was when I was 16, I worked at a retail store. I started off selling shoes (Al Bundy Style) then progressed up to just being a cashier in the general merchandise area. Not the best job in the world, but not the worst either lol

I was recently asked if I could help out in the school I went to up until last year. I just do some small tasks in the secretary office and elsewhere in the school, like watching over the middle school students during recess.

It's quite fun because I can talk to a lot of teachers I knew from my time in school. It's also really convenient since my cousins go there so it's never a problem to come and pick them up

First job : Paperboy. Needed cash for G.I. Joes and comic books. After I got old enough I would work in a produce stand during the summer. Dawn until 5pm. First picking corn, melons, and sometimes tomatoes for a few hours then selling it all day. It was a pretty decent job at the time. Got paid in cash daily and worked mostly alone. First job that had a time clock was at Hardee's. Ever hear of it? lol Fast food burger joint. I did everything there. Worked there until college. They had a great menu. If you got lucky enough to get fresh food. This was a long time ago mind you.

My first job was for a (then) local Recreation Department.
Don't let the name fool you, there was no recreation involved...just a lot of manual labor.

I suppose it went as expected...hard labor....bad pay.

I've always done manual labor around our home, including things like building solar arrays and clearing part of a forest. I got paid by my grandpa for some of that, so I guess you could call it a job, but only somewhat.

I also worked a 3 week contract job in North Dakota as a door-to-door campaigner. That was a good experience.

My first full-time job, though, was working at Taco Bell. I started that in February, and just left 2 weeks ago. I'll be going back there when I get back from petitioning in Missouri in early November.

Digging up Cypress knees with a mattock and an axe on Grandpa's yard along the bayou. They were getting in the way of the mower. Took around three days. Then I mowed. Got forty bucks.

At my first job I was a library assistant in the book store called Borders. I only worked there for 3 months because I eventually found something better and quit that job. I enjoyed working there and I wouldn't mind returning to work at Borders in the future. Sadly, their stores closed down soon after.

My first unofficial job was working for my family at our family restaurant. I don't really know if it counts, because I didn't get paid and had lax rules. So, if this counted, my first job experience was easy - but the obvious drawback being I didn't get paid.

My first real job was at "The Toy Factory." It's literally called that, by the way. Ironically, we didn't make toys, we made stuffed animals. Anyways, I was younger and it paid $9.something an hour, so it was a good gig. As for the difficulty or if I enjoyed it, I was in the shipping department. I primarily loaded trucks and did janitorial work on slow days to keep myself busy. It wasn't difficult, but it gets pretty hot in those trucks. Co-workers were a bunch of gossips, but I had no problems with any of them luckily (I stay out of work place politics).

So yeah, I guess I enjoyed it and it wasn't rough. Only hard part was after a long 10 hour shift, every day, your body hurts like no other. We didn't have forklifts, so we used hand carts to push things everywhere. It added up!

The key thing is, look at the bright side of stuff. Oh, and stay out of work politics - it's a headache.

My first job was working at Tyson Foods. It was physically demanding and boring, repetitive assembly line stuff. Just do the same thing over and over and over and over and, you get it. At least I didn't work in live hang, where, you guessed it, you have to pick up the live chickens and put them on these hooks, so they could get their feathers burned off... Pretty brutal stuff. Unless you worked in the Fully Cooked part, where it smells like cooked chicken, everything else was pretty gruesome.

The orientation video was pretty honest though. It starts out with, "Welcome to Tyson's Slaughterhouse." And goes to show the chickens, from living all the way to... Uh, not living. Brutal.

The weird thing is, most of my family actually worked there at some point, but I'm the only one who still likes chicken after working there. XD
