Thoughts on Windows 10?

What do you think about Windows 10?
Excellent! Best OS ever by far.

It's really nice!

It's tolerable. I'd rather some other OS, though.

Honestly pretty bad. Windows 10 is inferior to many.

I haven't upgraded my own computer, but my dad upgraded to Windows 10 on his laptop. I think it's nice how fast it is, but nothing will ever beat Windows 7.

What's your opinion?

10 is pretty decent. I didn't have the chance to test it thoroughly, because my computer is rather old, so I switched back to 7. A new computer equipped with Windows 10 will surely be nice, and in my opinion better than 7.

The only bad thing are all those new apps included. Groove Music, for example, was a pain to deal with. Cortana was fun to use, but to some extent. Didn't even get to try Edge, but seemed inferior to Chrome and Firefox. I prefer the old (but gold) ones present in 7 more, probably because they are no different than in XP, which my current laptop uses.

I haven't personally used windows 10 yet but I heard it's pretty annoying in different aspects of it from different people. I can't upgrade because of slow interent but truth be told if I got a new laptop I would probably use windows 10.

I've heard from others that it that is not good. I haven't tried it for myself and honestly I'll never will. I prefer to use a windows that I am most comfortable using and that's windows 7. Maybe in the near future I will try windows 10 but not right now. I don't want to end up rushing into something that I won't be able to handle. And as if I don't have enough trouble as it is. I am still learning how to use windows 8 my newest computer, that I normally use for streaming or other things. '-'

Ive heard it's not good at all. Basically, instead of improving Windows 8, it's just Windows 8 with more surveilence software. Every word you type is saved into a database. And information on everything you do on the computer is for sale to advertisement companies. Not only that, but it comes with an app store! Have you ever wanted to pay $5.99 for Minesweeper? How about Solitaire?...No? Huh, well you're smarter than the folks at Windows on what people ACTUALLY want.

A user of this : Yeah, it's a big money racket. Everything costs money now. And remember when they said they were calling it Windows 10 because it was too innovative to be called Windows 9? They're really dumb because, I totally agree, it's just Windows 8 with more crap. Should have called it Windows 8.2

Let me just quote my brother (more or less his wording): "Windows 10 is just spyware. Older Windows got spyware too, yes, but you could at least get a program to defend against that, but when the OS is the spyware, there is nothing you can do." I've never used, and with the sounds of all the data mining in it, I never will. Windows 7 was the last solid OS Microsoft made and since 10 is the last ever, 7 will forever by the last good Windows. Unfortunately, it is still doomed to the same fate as XP is now, more exploitable than any of the CoDs, made for outdated hardware that won't run on new computers, and just so old it will be rolled on over to the latest and greatest. Unfortunately, the time to go all Linux is high and nigh, but I still have Steam games I've never even played yet 'cause my computer is crap. Oh well, eventually Valve will push those AAAs enough (or I stay a console gamer all my life).

I currently don't have windows 10. I used to get a large amount of notifications that would tell me to get an early registration for windows 10. It turns out my computer wasn't compatible with it for several reasons, so I couldn't use it anyway. In retrospect, I don't think I am missing out on much. I've heard a lot of negative things about windows 10 and people saying it isn't much of a change from windows 8. If that's the case, then I don't really feel bad about not having it. What I am using now works out just fine, so there is no reason to change it.

To be honest, I don't see a good reason to upgrade. It doesn't seem to be a huge improvement over Windows 8.1, which is what I use. But even though I don't want to upgrade, Microsoft keeps nagging me with popup balloons that you can close and annoying popup windows that you can't close. In fact, one of the more recent updates was just to give you the annoying popups to try to annoy you into installing Windows 10!

To be honest, it still feels like it should be a mobile OS. Why does there need to be an App Store for a computer? What's wrong with just downloading your applications like a normal person? And from what I've heard, the Start Menu is crap compared to the Start Menu from Windows 7.

Now, a lot of us have already heard of the stories of Windows 10 constantly phoning home, but I feel inclined to believe that it might not be as malicious as it seems. I have faith that no company, especially not one of the biggest companies in the world, would transfer and store so much information about their customers. It'd be a treasure trove for any criminal that could get in there! Imagine tens of millions of people's information, just sitting there! It'd be like putting a million dollars in a case in front of someone and telling them not to touch it!

But, even with all of that, the main reason I don't want to upgrade is because it might impact performance and compatibility. It's a crapshoot if any program that works on any previous Windows version will work on Windows 10, and people have been reporting decreased game performance after upgrading. And since I like using some programs that already have minor issues on Windows 8.1, they're definitely not going to work better on Windows 10.

If you actually read all of this, thank you. You're winner.

It sucks.
Most of the OS is just Windows 8 all over again. ORIGINALITY AT IT'S FINEST.
According to many people, Windows 10 is also spying on your every key stroke, and tries to get your information behind the scenes.
Oh hey, look! An App Store that fits more in a mobile OS!
You have Cortana, which was advertised as Windows version of Siri but it's really just a non-helpful search bar.
The Start Menu is also just Windows 8's start menu, but formatted to look something like Windows XP's.
The Taskbar, if you can even call it that, is probably the only good thing about Windows 10.

When I upgraded to Windows 10, I also had tons of graphical problems with one of my favorite steam games. I find it coincidental, but I'm not blaming this on Windows 10.

I think windows 10 has been great so far. Still missing a few minor options that I enjoyed with Windows 8.1

The transition and upgrade process was painless. Windows even updated almost all of my drivers and other programs without me having to do it. Certainly one of the cleanest upgrade processes I've gone through for an OS that I can remember. Have not had one issue with it.

One REALLY annoying feature is when let's say you're trying to open up a picture from Skype or whatever, it ALWAYS asks what program you want to open with, and it never gives you the option to "keep using this program." It's so annoying. Other things it wants you to do is try out their special Windows 10 stuff like Office 365 and Microsoft Edge. I haven't tried Edge because it sounds like they're trying too hard to be better than Chrome. Also, a huge issue is if you make a video, for some stupid reason it can't even open up its own file. I would make a video showing my dog doing tricks, I try to open it up to see how the video looked, and I get "this file is not compatible with any program" or something like that. One last thing, you can't even color your windows. The task bar is black, and the windows of anything else is pure white. The only thing that actually changes color is the start menu.

Well I went through the free upgrade after having used Windows 8 for a few months. I'd have to say that I do prefer it to Windows 7 and 8 when going about my daily business, even if it's not really too different from Windows 8 honestly possibly because I like how it's very slightly more reminiscent of how Windows XP and 7s interface. The updating process was really smooth too since it was just applied like a more involved system update.

All that said I still don't think Windows 10 really does enough to differentiate itself from Windows 8 if anything it should be called something like Windows 8.2 but I suspect the 10 was to attract more people to using it. Either way I would still switch to Linux but school and a lot of software not being compatible is stopping me from doing so >.>

I really like it, because at least the Start Menu has been brought back instead of that crappy one in Windows 8. It's stable and installing the updates without failing like most of the Operating Systems I've used(yes, even Linux failed to install the updates). I've heard from some people there are privacy issues with this system. That's probably why some don't like it. I have no issues with privacy at all. But since it's the Professional Version of Windows 10 I have, I'm thinking that's why. Since businesses can't have down time, I believe.  What I can't figure is why consumers don't like Professional versions of operating systems more. I've never had trouble with Professional operating systems(this being the second one, the first being Windows 2000 Professional). I also figure that Professional operating systems might be based more directly on Windows NT, which I hear is Windows best OS, period.

I think it is okay, aside for the browser which is so terrible on mt laptop. It still takes a while to get used to the taskbar and stuff, but I think it looks great, however I prefered the full Windows 8 page that could be brought up instead of the desktop, I liked that a lot more than having them blend together.

I personally like it. There are certain features that are lacking in Windows 8 that I finally was able to get in Windows 10, so I am glad that they have made these changes and it has been my OS of choice. Also, from what I heard, Microsoft is hoping that this is the last OS that they would need to put out and instead of making new OS, they would just continue to update and upgrade this existing OS for a long time in the future.

I have 10 Pro running on my primary desktop, and I've been quite pleased with it. I run all sorts of programs on it, both old and new, and I haven't come across any major compatibility issues. If any of you guys are still using 7, I'd totally recommend upgrading. It does take a little tweaking to suit one's preference, but overall works quite well.
