Nintendo indefinitely. Sega is going downhill by the day. Tragic considering it owns one of my favorite characters of all time.

I would have to go for Nintendo because it is a big part of my childhood and I still play their games at the moment.

Nintendo will always have my retro torch. But they are so gimmicky and somewhat out of touch now. The only things that they do right are the Brawl games. Sega has always been second rate,in my opinion,but they did have great franchises such a Streets of Rage,Sonic (before all the modern games),Phantasy Star,Out Run and others. But they knew that the lot was cast against them and they could not compete as they once did. Maybe they made too many bad decisions,maybe they were better known for add on after add on. I would say the future belongs to indie,PlayStation and Xbox.

PlayStation has had my loyalty on this since the PSX. They just seem to always be at least one step ahead of their competition, and know what the gamers want better than anyone else.


Nintendo used to be my choice but as old school said, they're too focused on their gimmicks to hit their true potential anymore. They could easily put out a monster of a machine now with the NX and draw all of the third party developers to it, plus have those great Nintendo IPs. If they did this, PlayStation would have a fight with their long since forgotten competitor, and who would win would be anybody's guess...but Nintendo loves their gimmicks too much to focus on power and actual gaming experiences beyond a new way of controlling it or something.

Well I would say playstation but I do love nintendo so it's a kind of iffy situation for me. They are both great :p

I'm going to have to go with PlayStation with this one....don't get me wrong I still do love Sega and Nintendo. Its like what they have become today and how PlayStation games have overruled it in a way. They didn't put more potential into Sega or Nintendo that they should have done. If that happened, then they would have met with how PlayStation games are now done. :/

Eirinn : I was just saying in the Happy Birthday Nintendo thread I wish they would up their console game.  I think if they developed a system with a noticeable better specs than the PS4 and Xbox One, and avoided any sort of motion control or other gimmick to show they aren't trying to cater to the casual gamer, they could get the hardcore console gamers to come back in droves.  Or maybe I just long for the SNES days when Nintendo actually had the best hardware out.

Also no love for sega here at all?  I got the genesis when it was first released with Altered Beast and the graphics just blew Nintendo away at the time.  The Snes was still a ways off and Sega was killing it with the Genesis.  Golden Axe, Super Hang-On, Altered Beast, columns, just so many great games.  I love things both companies have done I cannot vote between them.

fightorace : Exactly. It was with the N64 that they started to decline (though I loved that system to death) because they began lacking in power. Then the GameCube had power but those minidiscs restricted the system and developers. And in my opinion it all started really going downhill with the Wii and Nintendo's introduction to gimmick sales.

Now if this next system really is a handheld/console hybrid, Nintendo could possibly have found a way to get back in the game even with low specs, simply because their handhelds sell so well. Who knows? I'd personally rather just see them release some beast hardware console though. That would be great.



And in regards to this poll, I do think Sega deserves some support here. The Genesis/Megadrive was a really good system. The SMS was too, but it never did much in my area for some reason (never heard of it before Vizzed). But again, they got caught up in being "innovative" and doing new things first and it killed them (take a long hard look, Nintendo). Too many systems and attachments that were underutilized and unsupported because by the time a Dev could make a game for it, two more Sega systems and/or attachments had been made. Plus it sucked money from buyers who ended up with one or two games before needing new Sega hardware. But this was so early in the business that Sega had little pattern to follow. Hardware generations were barely even a thing and no one knew how long they were supposed to last. Nintendo...has no excuse.

I've always been a loyal and diehard Nintendo fan. Even though they aren't as dominant as they used to be, I still buy their games and systems before thinking about buying Playstation stuff. (Playstation's my 2nd favorite btw). As long as nobody says Xbox, I'm good lol.

My favourite is (and always will be ) Nintendo. I remember playing Star Fox (Star Wing) , Super Mario Bros. and other games made by them with my older brother. As I've said Nintendo will always be my favourite.

If we talked 16 bit console era it would be a tie but today Nintendo slaughters Sega

Overall it is Nintendo by a landslide. It has been able to better market its products but also recover better from failures - after The Dreamcast we have not heard much about Sega.

However, in The 16-bits era both were equally good machines that I can not separate. I loved Final Fantasy, but I also loved Shining Force and Sonic.

If its between those two, then ill have to go with Nintendo because in general they have brought us more of the iconic games, while Sega had only brought us a few of the ones that are really big. Sure, I can get angry at Nintendo for having outrageous prices and all, but when it comes to the quality and fun of the games, Nintendo is so much better than Sega.

Nintendo is the obvious winner here, but some people would rather prefer Sega. Nintendo has better games, and characters.

Honestly I feel that there's no comparison overall. Especially when you take in the whole body of work over the past 30 years. Nintendo has it won hands down.

That being said, why does there have to be a comparison? Both companies have been responsible for making a whole bunch of great games that I have enjoyed VERY much over the past 30 years or so. I've enjoyed owning certain consoles from both companies.

My favorite company right now in Sony. The PlayStation 4 is doing really well. I actually have a PS4. I can't say anything about the Xbox One since I don't have one. But when it comes to Nintendo vs Sega, like I said earlier, Nintendo wins.

BestGamer24 : TO me, any console that hosts Square Enix has my vote. That is why I went towards PSX after playing all I could on the 16 bits.

Honestly, the choice is kind of obvious. Sega started going low budget and making games on their competitior's console and making sucky games on them. Really, 2006 was pretty much when Sonic just turned into a long forgotten memory.
