While working on the new site design/layout, I've found ways to optimize the site. You'll notice that the site is faster than usual.

However, this is still not as fast as the new site will be. To see an example of what I mean, check it out here:

The new site design/layout will most likely go live on the index page of vizzed tomorrow and from there I'll slowly work on migrating the current pages of the site to the new code over the course of a few weeks. I'll post more about the new site design/layout tomorrow as well.

The new site layout is so cool and convenient! It's better than I expected. I really like the trending threads part of the index page. That could cause a little more activity in the forums! I can't wait for this to take effect tomorrow or whenever else it will!

I haven't noticed the site's speed increase yet, but I will soon enough.

This is awesome! I'm really looking forward to seeing how fast this site will get! After experiencing how slow it got yesterday afternoon, I feel like this new change will make my time on vizzed even more amazing than it already is!

PacmanandMariofan : Glad you're liking it, I have nearly 200 hours invested into this new site. The crazy thing is, you're only seeing a very tiny part of what the new site design/layout has to offer. You'll get to see most of what it has to offer tomorrow and believe me, it's some very exciting stuff

Davideo7 : Wow, that's great! I'm even more excited now It will take me a while to get used to the new blazing fast speed, but mostly the new site layout.

After seeing the same layout (other than the background) for my close to 3 years on vizzed, it will take me a long time to get used to it. The amazement of the new layout will be worth it!

I'll be honest, I didn't like the way the new index looked from my phone, but I can't wait to see what kind of speed you're talking about. Sounds great.

It must have taken a long time for you to code this, and I hope people appreciate what you did

(EDIT: When I hover over people's name for information, the level seems a bit off. I'm level 36, and it says I'm level 67 :/. Did you change how you level or something?)

(EDIT 2: Also, the right side of the screen with info doesn't seem to update  when I refresh the page. When I hover over my name, on the right side it says I have 724 posts. I have made 725 posts. I'm sure it'll update when it becomes the index page, but still, figured I'd bring it up)

I think it is a lot better than what is originally was when you first started asking for advice. 

I'm really interested in seeing what you do with the " white space " to the sides, since you said you had something special in mind for that. 

This is certainly a wonderful update. I'm anticipating the new layout- this streamlining will really improve the site's...."facade".

Barathemos : I don't think there will be a single user who wont appreciate at least 1 of the features I've got planned.

I was able to get the render time of that test page down to 0.156 seconds for my test account. My current account I was able to get a render time of around 0.253 seconds but I've also got more inboxes than the test account and I've got content pinned. That's insane though because there's a lot of content on that page, especially for me. Ohh also, as a guest, I saw render times of less than 0.100 seconds which I've never seen before every on any page at any point in the history of vizzed. The fact that I've still got some more optimizing to do is crazy.


PacmanandMariofan : Once you get use to the new design, you'll never want to go back. mrfe can agree with me on this, he's been using that page for about a week or so now.


zanderlex : I've done a lot to optimize this for phones. How does it look on your phone?


gamerforlifeforever2 : Yeah some of the pages will load so fast that you wont even realize it went to a new page.


ZeroTails : Not sure what is up with the levels. I'll work on fixing that. The content in those boxes is actually cached content and will only update once every 24 hours. I'll try and find a better solution to that.

As for the page editting, you'll get a chance to play around with that in the near future. You can however try out the pins. Click the pin link to pin any piece of content to your "User Hud".


Barathemos : It just reloads and doesn't give you access to an edit panel? Weird but that might be because you don't have permission to edit that page. For pages you do have permission to edit, you'll have awesome access to edit cool things.


thing1 : I've tried to take into consideration almost every piece of advice that was given (or at least the practical ones or the ones that don't require too much extra time).

Boxia : It definitely will. It'll do more for the site than what I've mentioned so far. More details tomorrow.

Davideo7 : On my phone it looks a lot more zoomed in and crunched together. Both versions fit in a phone window, but with the new one, all the text is like 3 times bigger fitting in the same place. It does look more like an app and less than a regular site like that, it will just take a lot of time to get used to the crunchness.

Unfortunately I can't use the Pin function because my monitor isn't big enough apparently . It's probably not wide enough, and I sorta figured that >.<. Oh well... I wonder why it still comes up even though I can't use it

I think with that feature, having the Recent Posts being able to go there, or friends activity would be cool. Basically, anything with redirectable links to be able to go there would be amazing. 

zanderlex : The goal is to make it mobile friendly and that's what qualifies it. I will give users to have an option to browse the desktop version of the site on a mobile device if they want.

ZeroTails : I'll have to figure out a way to remove those links for browsers that aren't big enough.
