When you're playing video games, do you usually use headphones or not? Do the headphones help to enhance your gaming experience?

I very rarely use headphones when I'm playing games because it's a bad idea for me. Every time I put headphones on while I'm playing a video game, I get even more wrapped up in the game than I usually do! Then while my parents are yelling at me to help them with something or come downstairs to eat, I can't hear them. I can only hear my game.

I could just make the headphones quiet, but that would be less fun than playing a game without headphones.

Yeah, I would have to say I do. I find that I have a better experience when I am able to communicate with my teammates or opponents. Or, if I am streaming, the sound quality is a lot better with a headset than through my XBOX ONE Kinect.

It really depends what mood i'm in lol.

Sometimes I put my headphones in my wii u gamepad, and it's really fun. Sometimes I just want to use my TV's speaker because that's what i'm used to.

When I play the RGR on my PC, or any other PC game, I use my headphones.

EDIT:  forgot to mention, on my old consoles (Sega master system, SNES, etc.) I don't use headphones because my cord is too short from my TV.

I always use headphones when I'm playing handheld games because the sound quality is much better with them on than off. As far as my Wii U is concerned though, I sometimes use them when I'm using my gamepad, but normally I play games on there using my pro controller and TV. But like I said, I feel like handheld gaming requires headphones or earbuds to get the absolute best gaming experience.

gamerforlifeforever2 : Yeah. Handhelds are pretty quiet compared to other gaming systems so using headphones makes it much better.

I normally play Wii U games with the audio coming from the TV as well since my TV is a huge TV with amazing speakers that have surround sound.

I either play with headphones, or the sound is off. For starters; it seems to annoy everyone when the game is at full blast. But then you get games like Mario & Luigi, or Ace Attorney, or Professor Layton. And games like those just need sound if you want to get full enjoyment.

I only use headphones when playing my 3DS, or on the rare occasions I play games on the PC. Outside those I really just play with sound off, or with sound coming from the TV speakers.

I used headphones when I had my old speakers. They were useful when there was so much noise in the house, so I didn't had to turn up the volume to extreme levels. Also, they were even more useful overnight, I could keep the same volume as during the day with no worries.

My latest speakers don't admit headphones, so I don't use them. I've been tempted to get another set of speakers which did allow for headphones, but it never became a reality.

Back in time, I also used headphones with my PSP, but ended up discarding them as well. The sound wasn't the same, for any weird reason.

Normally when I'm playing games on my PC, I use a headset. I have a nice high quality noisecancelling headset.

I'm going to be honest, I completely changes my mind on this once I started playing the 2DS because the sound in the system sucks when you use headphones, its like at least twice as loud when you don't use them, and that's for everything from games to music and videos, so I doubt I will ever use headphones again with the 2DS unless they can make everything much louder.

zanderlex : Did you test your 2DS's sound settings? You can do that by going to "System Settings", then "Sound", then you can test each of the 3 sound settings to see which one works best with headphones.
