I'd say Luigi I like his scaredy cat personality, makes him slightly more believable than Mario as a character and a bit funny. Besides I've always liked rooting for the underdog between the two.

And I did enjoy the Luigi's Mansion game way back when I had a gamecube, so there's that.

I like Mario, manly because I'm not a fan of Luigi's derpy personality. It can be funny but a lot of the time it gets old really quick. Mario is more neutral, I've got more experience playing as him, so he gets my vote.

Easy pick: Luigi.

Now I've noticed that I always prefer the sidekicks and background characters because they don't have the spotlight and they don't care (usually). However I also just find Luigi to be a more appealing character because he's not only the underdog, but also just...cooler. He offers me a character in a game series with a character that gets plastered everywhere and on everything which normally turns me away from a series.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Mario, I just prefer Luigi over him...and Toad...and Yoshi. lol But Mario is cool still.
