I think I may be the only one who greets like that.

I find it oddly amusing that there are apparently enough ways to greet someone in chat that the idea has its own thread.  I can't say I'm very creative when it comes to announcing my arrival much of anywhere.

I have noticed, oddly enough though, that I tend to use 'hi' in chat, and 'hello' in person. I don't know why, but it feels really absurd to say 'hi' in person. It used to be that I'd say hi the most, but now I almost always say hey. It's easier to say hey when I'm comfortable around someone and I'm confident that we are good friends. However, if a random person greets me I'm more likely to say hi.

The only reason I ever say the longer hello is if I'm being goofy. My friend Derek and I do that on our phone calls.
