I've always loved Spears other polearms. Grab some Iron Lances, maybe a Silver lance and a Javelin, and I'm good. An Axereaver too, just in case.

Finally a Fire Emblem thread!

I would go with the traditional ol' sword. Axes look heavy to carry and spears require more power and both of your hands to use. Swords have the good traditional weapon for quite a long time.

Personally, I prefer swords over any other weapon. I don't really know why, but I think it has to do with the fact that swords are some of the first weapons I knew about other than guns, and I just prefer them over any other medieval weapons. Good explanation, right?

I luv swords. I luv using swords. So yea, I would automatically go for the swords. Well, swords are pointy, so you can attack people better, you can swing swords quickly, so you have the advantage of speed, and they look cool. In terms of Fire Emblem, I loved the swords, because I just have a bias for swords. I know they have a weakness, but isn't that for every Fire Emblem weapon? Bottom line is, I love swords.

I personally love using magic because it's very effective when you don't want to attack an enemy up close. While I also like swords, I have to say in my opinion magic is the most effective option.

I personally love the dark magic items from Sacred Stones (the magic those eyes use, especially). Unlimited uses, powerful, and really don't degrade your speed and accuracy much. Of course, the only way to get them is through the mine glitch (or those scary fire tiles), so that might be exempt from the considerations of most. With that in mind, I generally use a variety of weapons, but default to swords once I'm too OP to be stopped regardless of what weapons I use.

For example, in my current FE: Awakening save slot, I only use bronze swords, because there is literally nothing that gives me a challenge anymore.

I always try to use lances. They are just so cool, and they are accurate and fairly strong.  Plus, I love the animations with lances. I wish there were more classes who use lances on foot, that would be really cool.

Ever since the first edition D&D, I have always and will prefer magic users.  I have yet to play Fire Emblem though, so not sure game-wise the pros and cons.  I love all bladed weapons and have a few spiked ones as well, but if I had a choice, I would throw a fireball at you instead of try and lop your head from your spine

It's well known that all Jagens (fe characters that are strong when you first start the game, like Frederick or Seth) quickly fall behind the rest of the team due to stat caps. For me, Lances, You don't see Calvary or Pegasus/Wyvern riders riding around with swords now do we? That and axes are heavy for less range, Yes, they're ultimately powerful, but doesn't give you a lot of room to dodge when you're swinging around a heavy blade. There also is throwing axes I know, but it's nothing a bow or a magic user can't handle. That and every class has a throwing weapon now. Lances can be used for a lot of classes then just the one. Magic is beautiful because most of the enemies in Fire Emblem are Physical and have atrociously low Resistance, and Magic will pretty much 2HKO a lot of stuff. It's also very powerful. Especially Luna..... in FE7.
