Vizzed security is always an ongoing project but things should be back to normal and the current issues should be fixed. Vizzed was hacked but no one needs to worry about any personal information or passwords being leaked. The hacker logged into a few user accounts but after discovering who it was, he was cool enough to reveal to me how he did it so that I could patch the exploit.

I've implemented a lot of new security which includes disabling certain HTML tags from posts, bios and layouts, locking various staff members to a single IP, and completely changing the way that users login info is handled on the site.

Some users may have troubles logging into the site after these updates. If you are one of those users or know of a user who is having troubles, clear your cookies. If that doesn't help, please contact me at davideo7@hotmail.com.

I'm really glad that nobody's information was leaked. Thank you for all the hard work that you've put in to fixing the security issues.

What were the HTML tags that you took out of layouts?

It also seems that you disabled CSS? 

It doesn't sound like there was any sort of destruction that came from the hole in security and I bet the user wasn't logging into user accounts to attack anyone in particular so it's probably not anything to worry about anyway. It never hurts to implement improvements to security but it's a never ending process as well. Hacking takes many forms and it can be in form of something as little as an error or by performing tasks in a certain order or just dumb luck. If anyone ever finds anything questionable, it should be reported to David immediately! I'm sure he'll appreciate it too...

So, basically we have a hacker who earned a lot of hate from everybody in the site for bringing it down while all he did was just slip into a few accounts. Okay, one of those was of a Global, but after seeing this post that hacker doesn't deserve that much hate.

Who the hacker was or why Vizzed was hacked can remain shrouded in mystery if no damage was done. I hope that "no damage was done" also means that David will continue with the various updates he had in mind.

He just wanted to have a little fun I guess. Maybe he was just training his hacking abilities.

So staff members are no longer able to log in from multiple IP's/locations? That's kinda a bummer if true because I often log in from work, on my phone, from home, etc. Something like this will kinda limit me.

I can't login on my laptop, just my phone. 

BigF101 : Lately there's been text at the top of the site that says "If you have trouble logging in, clear your cookies!" Maybe you need to clear your cookies on your laptop to log in.

I've done it over 10times

BigF101 : try deleting the cookie vizzed.com it worked for me i was able to log back in.

Because I dislike keeping people in the dark and don't need my trust points anyway, and david didn't tell me to keep quiet or anything: it was me and a friend of mine who did the thing. You know, the one with the hacking into some accounts and accidentally making david take vizzed down for a day.

I mean sure we got to read the staff forums and quite a few people's PM inboxes, but there wasn't really anything interesting in there. Or well, I guess it just wasn't interesting to me as a relative outsider to the community, I'm sure people more in the know would've had a field day with these reports and playdates (mostly for minecraft and smash bros).

Fireproof : Mostly what we did was make staff send each other the word "cuck" and confusing the heck out of them.
The site going down was mostly us not thinking far enough that that's probably the appropriate response to having staff accounts compromised, so it really wasn't intended to happen.
Oh and we moved a single thread to a different forum, nobody seems to have noticed so far.

EX Palen : It's not like we're innocent, people are free to be mad at us for taking the site down for a day, though getting to play 100 games for free is pretty good compensation I'd say.
And.. that's not quite all we did, when we first got into 2 accounts we actually emptied their Viz balance, which is probably the most "destructive" thing we did. I refunded them their Viz by now though, so that too shouldn't be much of a problem.

Scohui : Just a little fun is correct, practicing probably not so much.

It was just a prank. You entered in the account of a Global, so you could have done a lot of damage to the site. I understand how it may seem funny at first glance, but once you realize what you've done, it's too late. You didn't want to damage the site, and even helped David patch it up again. 

I think you actually helped the site, because now somebody who wants to do damage to the site will have to face stronger security measures. It's not like we should thank you for that, but I always see the good side of things, and a hacker wanting to do damage to the site could be much worse than what you did.
