A year or so back I made a thread looking for the name of a Megaman game I played as a kid. I had the thread closed when I thought the question had been answered, but it turns out it wasn't the game I was looking for.

So I decided to try again. Here goes.


Description :
-It's on the SNES
-Bass appears in the game, but to my knowledge is NOT a playable character
-I clearly remember finding a dog at some point hidden(?) in one of the levels
-The last level I played in it was set in the clouds

That's it. I know it isn't much to work with, but maybe a diehard fan can figure it out. Also, please be sure that ALL of these descriptions can apply to any game you list as a possible answer.

As for the dog, I'm almost certain he was hidden in a level (I want to say behind a fake wall, locked in a cage, but I was so young I could be getting that mixed up), but he may not have been hidden. There was definitely a dog in the game somewhere though.

And one of the bosses may have been Cutman, but I'm not positive if he was in this one or not.

I believe you're talking about Megaman X. But is that what someone answered before?

And no, before I was told that I wanted Megaman and Bass. I guess I failed to mention that Bass wasn't playable.

SonicFan22 : Doesn't seem to be the right one. I am enjoying it quite a bit though, so thanks for that at least. lol This and the one I'm looking for are the only Megaman titles I've really liked so far.

I checked the "sky" stage in this one, and it seems different than I remember (I thought the clouds themselves --or something that looked like clouds-- were the "ground" so to speak in the one I'm looking for). Again, I could be mistaken. That was almost twenty years ago...man that makes me sound so old...

Why don't you try searching the word, "Megaman" in the search bar, and with no hacks showing up, and make sure it is in the SNES section. Maybe you will find it that way.

Eirinn : True it would be kinda hard to try and remember a game from years ago, anyway I hope this is the one and your memory is just foggy, but if it isn't completely I'm glad I helped find you something that you also are having fun with. I'll try and think of others and do a little bit of google searchin' lol

But yeah I think it's Megaman X or Megaman 7.

Eirinn : Hmm, according to your information, I think this game is Mega Man 7. (Not sure.)

Megaman 7 is the game where you combine RUSH (The dog) to make a new RUSH armor that allows you to double jump. Bass is a NPC with his own dog, you have to fight him at one point, but he is not playable. Protoman also makes an appearance. The majority of the game features Bass as an antagonist of sorts, mocking you with his dog's incredible ability to combine with him, but believe me, if you search hard enough and you find all the missing RUSH parts, you get a badass armor unlike any others in the entire series. MM7 is my favorite of all the classic MM games.

Based on what you said, MM7 is actually the ONLY game it could possibly be.

Eirinn : Snes? Is it megaman 7. I believe it fits the description. And i believe the dog you are talking about is rush. And it was indeed on the snes. Can you remember anything about the story. (Yes, 7 actually had one!) There should be four robot masters and Dr. wily is getting away. after being imprisoned for about six months.

Edit: I read through the other posts after posting this, and I actually think that I might be right. Wait, is there a cloud stage on that? Hmmm... better check. Okay yeah that's right.

imamonster : Aye, indeed I did. That's actually the reason I wanted to find this game: it was the only one I ever enjoyed. Well that and I played it with my brother and since it was a special game to him, it was special to me. In all honesty that's probably why I liked it. lol

In fact, since 7 was the only one I'd ever played, I was thoroughly confused when I found that Bass was (apparently?) a good guy in Megaman and Bass. I could have sworn he was an enemy in the one I played before. Thanks for the detailed answer there. It helped a lot.
