Since there is one about piercings and the age old topic is probably locked now, lets start another. Do you have any? Would you like one? Do prefer to be a "clean slate" your whole life? Stories, experiences and opinions. You don`t even need to have ink on your skin to have any of those. Lets hear them!

Since the last time I discussed the issue here I have gotten a few more myself. Sure it depends where you get it but I still don`t think it "hurts". It just feels annoying.

lol, both my parents and my sister have unfinished tattoos.  My sister and Mom both screamed in agony at the pain of the tattoo gun and my Father backed out of a regretful decision halfway through.  I don't personaly have any tattoos, but I have drawn quite a few tattoo remeniscent designs in the last 5 years or so, even had a roomate get one of my pictures on his shoulder.  I don't like my art enough to get it done on myself though, been thinking about what my first tattoo would be since my single digits but I haven't come up with it yet.

It's permanent you see, and I don't want to mark future me with the idiocy of my youth.

Sup Brigand. Seen a lot of people who just can't take getting a tattoo. Even seen some pass out while getting them. To me the screamers are the absolute best ones to watch getting a tattoo. Well anyways let me get to answering your questions :
Do you have any? Yes I have two ( a winged panther on my right arm and a tribute tattoo I got after a Motley Crue concert ).
Would you like one? Yes I have plans to get quite a few more. The one I want the most is artwork of mine and a friend ( Two different styles of winged dragons that I plan on getting on my back ). Just having to wait to get it because it is going to cost a lot of money ( size, lot detailing, and colors ).
Me a clean slate ? Easy question to answer .. too late and no way in hell. I like tattoos and see no problem with getting them. It's art. I love checking people's tattoos out.

Brain-Splattered :

Sup, B-S. I have never heard of anyone even screaming or even passing out from getting one. For me it has at tops felt only as annoying as hell. Tell us about them! I think it is more of a psycholgical thing than actual pain.

I have two tattoos so far. One i am getting fixed and the other was done last year. I find I really enjoy getting them though I haven't hit more sensitive areas where I have heard it can feel more intense than others. One on my right wrist and one on my left shoulder. I really would like to do more and hopefully as time goes on I'll get that chance. A fun way to express yourself and/or get into things that have meaning in your life.

I thought wrist would hurt like a motherkisser but actually it wasnt that bad. Tattooing on the chest was much worse. I think my next will be between the shoulderblades. Since you have something on your upper back, tell me how was that like?

Honestly, I think tattoos are very awesome and appealing on other people if done correctly.
I would like to get some tattoos, not something small though. I want something big, maybe running up and down one of my arms, chest and neck. One big tattoo covering those parts of my body, I think would look really cool.

Brigand: I watched a guy get a tattoo of a reaper on his left side right over his ribs. The guy started grimacing soon as it started. Then within 15 minutes he was groaning and within 25 minutes he was actually screaming that it hurt too much. The guy got the tattoo done but screamed a lot during it and the guy giving the tattoo had a hard time getting him to stay still enough to do the tattoo.
I've also seen a girl get a tattoo of a rose in bloom with her kids names in the major petals in the middle. The tattoo was on the top of her foot and she screamed bloody murder the whole time. Even passed out from the pain after just 30 minutes into getting the tattoo. The guy doing it had to stop and call an ambulance because him and others there could not get her to wake up. They did eventually get her up and going but she decided to leave without getting the tattoo colored in. She just had the outline and some shading with no color. Don't remember if she had the kids names in or not.
Seen others do the same as far as screaming but only 3 that have passed out while getting a tattoo. One was the above woman I told you about and another was a tall skinny guy getting a tattoo over his right shoulder blade of something that was kind of like a modified version of a manticore. The last one was another woman who was half drunk when she came in to get a tattoo of a fairy holding an object across her ankle. She was the loudest screamer I ever heard. She also passed out during the tattoo. She got the tattoo finished eventually from what my buddy told me but it was days later. I'm just glad I was not there to hear her screaming again.

Brain-Splattered :

Gee! Having had tattoos done on the "it really will hurt" parts of my body I just always figured it would be more or less of a psycholgical thing if it would really hurt that much but reading your stories I just think, well, maybe the threashold of pain just is different for folks. Or who knows. Seeing and (hearing) all this, what would you thinl?. Is it really the pain that makes you suffer so much or is it just the anxiety?

I really don't know at this point, but I'd definitely be love to get something like an art-noveau or minimalist tattoo. Definitely something with vibrant colors though.

I'd save up a lot of money to go somewhere expensive and high quality, though. And I probably wouldn't design my own tattoo unless I was REALLY satisfied with my art skills. I'd make sure that if it's permanent, it's good and not something I'll regret.

I've never done tattoos and never will make them, however they are not opposed to this form of art written in the human body, you just do not overdo it, in short, to see one or two tattoos still doing well, but there are people tattooed 100% throughout the body, but as they do, how they feel to be works of art in motion, it seems to me totally silly tattoos, better few but beautiful.

It Still a personal choice.

Up until about 4 years ago when I met my wife, the thought of getting a tattoo never even crossed my mind. I always thought that if you got a tattoo, then you had to put up with it for the rest of your life. And if you wanted to get it removed, I've heard its possible, but I've also heard that its a very painful process.

One day my wife just comes out of the blue and tells me that she "eventually wants to get a tattoo." I was really surprised at first, but once I thought about it, it might actually be cool to get a tattoo. So I've decided this...I want a tattoo but I'll only get one, and its going to go on my back. I want a husky/wolf head with its mouth slightly open. I actually posted in another thread where I asked a member to draw one out for me, and if its good enough, I'll put her picture on my back. I'm still currently awaiting her result...

I want one, but that 'want' has yet to become a reality, for a multitude of reasons. I know what I want, too: A simple treble-clef with ivy wrapped around it on my shoulder. Fairly easy, I should think, since it pretty much just involves a lot of black and a little green and blue.

Unfortunately, I live in an area where tattoo shops (nooot parlours, SHOPS) are everywhere, but every last one is dodgy as heck. I am a woman and I have to be careful about places I go in on my own. None of the ones I have checked out have been well lit or clean enough to make me comfortable just being in there, much less having someone touching me.

I've heard -- from a guy who lives here, who has beautifully done tattoos --  there's a good, clean, safe one in Knoxville, but that's a solid 2 and a half hour drive from me, and  there is simply no way right now.

Plus, I don't have the money or the means to make payments right now, so everything is on a turned off back burner. Hopefully one day, though.

I will never get any tatoos on my body because I really don't want to have a bunch of ink inside of me forever. I don't mind seeing other people get tattoos, but as far as I'm concerned, I'm never getting one.

I don't think I would ever get a tattoo though there is an idea for a tattoo I always had.  If I ever had a tattoo, it would be Hiei's Dragon of the Darkness Flame tattoo from Yu Yu Hakusho.  It feel like it would hurt a lot but I think it would be worth it.

I currently have 3. I plan to get a quote added to one if I don't get something entirely new, but I sill still count it as a new tattoo. And then I have plans for a huge back piece.

Speaking about being young and stupid, where is the line then? I am in my thirties and supposed to get some pretty big ink tomorrow. Do I regret it when I am fourty?

Brigand : That is how I think about and consider all of my tattoo possibilities. There are multiple tattoos that I would have gotten because I thought they might have been cool. But I didn't, because I thought they might not look right later, or I may regret them later in life.

I look at it like this: If I have even a sliver of a thought that I'm going to regret getting the tattoo later in life, or that I may not like it 100%, or that I don't have a story or a reason for getting the tattoo, then I am not going to get the tattoo.

I've never really wanted to get one personally, but I can still sort of understand why other people might want to and they can look awesome if done correctly (both of my older brothers have gotten some).

I may still get one some day if I get an idea for something cool and unique (though it probably wouldn't be a huge one if I did since I want to actually survive getting it lol) though I'd expect I would probably still regret getting it at some point later in my life. Though more likely than not, it wont even get to the point where I have a concept since I suck at drawing
