Do new glasses give you pain?

I hate getting new glasses it fills me with complete dread about whether they will be okay and not hurt my eyes. I hate it when they say adjust to it and it never happens.

Did this happen to you?

Sometimes it is right first time and this is bliss!

I hardly ever have the money to get new glasses, so I'll wear the same pair for 4-8 years before I get them replaced. I'm pretty sure I've had my current pair for at LEAST 6 years. However, I do remember it taking time for my eyes to adjust.

You know what I hate worse though?  Even after wearing this pair for so long.... it constantly tears up one side of my nose. The little nose-piece on the left side.... no matter how I adjust it..... keeps a fresh scarred area right underneath it.  I never see it bleed, but it often peels like a scab would, so there must be some abrasion going on.

I had a small stint with glasses when I was younger.

I went from a lighter pair to a heavier one and it took time to adjust.

But I've been wearing contacts for the past 5-6 years.

It was a big hassle initially, but now I don't think I'd ever want to go back.

Getting new glasses is a pain to me when my eyesight changes itself whether it would be worse or better. It takes me a while to get used to them.

Totts : surprisingly I never had headaches or eye pain from a new pair of glasses my eyes are easily adjustable to things like darkness or in this case glasses.

At first my new pair of glasses hurt my eyes because it takes a while to get used to them. I just keep them on as often as I can and now I have focused pretty well to them. I also went for a pair of frames that don't have the support pads on them. That way they are more comfortable.

I feel your pain, dude. I got glasses recently for the first time in ages and they're bugging me to death. I'm constantly adjusting them and they hurt my eyes at times. I think I have gotten used to them now but I still get the occasional pains and whatnot. But hey, at least I can actually see with them on and whatnot.

I think the most pain of getting new glasses for me myself personally is trying to pick out a new frame that I actually like, but then I end up regretting it time to time, but then to what actually matter is the lenses, they don't really hurt my eyes when I get new ones, though everything is like ten times brighter and clearer though when I do get a new pair of glasses.

I think it is mostly the sun that makes the eyes hurt though when you get a new pair, mostly because I think it's cause of the glass lenses enhancing everything more to make it easier for you to see and what not, though actually,I let my lenses get dirty up to a time it start to annoy me and well when I clean them it's as if they were just brand new! It's amazing really that they can get so dirty in so lil time.

Totts : I agree getting new glasses and having to get them adjusted is a pain in the butt. I personally take it a step further and say I wish I didn't have to wear glasses so I wouldn't have that problem plus having to clean my glasses when they get dirty is annoying as well.

I remember my very first glasses when I was 8. I wouldn't say it was a pain, but adaptation was hard as everything was suddenly so clear. Afterwards, changes required only minor adjustments as my eyes were already used to it.

Haha, I know exactly how you feel! I found a pair of glasses the other day that felt perfect (a rarity!) and my mother suggesting getting a different pair because they seemed cheap. But me? I prefer comfort over style, and I don't care if my glasses appear to have come from the Dollar Tree. If they will allow me to walk around and see comfortably, and won't stand out too much, I'm good. I have been infuriated so much in the past because I wanted a certain pair of glasses that seemed to be perfect and was denied them. I don't get so mad anymore, but I do try to reason, if I can.

I've had to buy 3 pairs of glasses already. The first 2 pairs were pretty uncomfortable until I got them adjusted. Once they were adjusted, they were comfortable, but still not as much as I wanted. After I accidentally broke both of them (one a few months after the other), I decided to get bigger glasses. They were never uncomfortable, and I don't think I ever needed to get them adjusted.

So new glasses give me pain unless they're pretty big on me. The smaller ones I had previously fit fine, but like I said, they didn't feel as comfortable as I wanted.

With new glass they always tend to bother the tops of my ears were they sit. I even have one pair that likes to cut into them, which hurts like then dickens', I try not to were those ones too much. I only get new glasses with a new prescription because for some odd reason when I've had glasses for some years the eye places won't replace the lenses in the old glasses with the new prescription for me. So new glasses with a new prescription some times cause me to get a little dizzy.

Only had to replace my glasses once, and that was because I had the first pair stolen. The lenses in my glasses are great for a range of distances, so the pain of wearing a new pair has not been an issue for me.

I first started wearing glasses recently, so I've never gotten "new" glasses before, but they shouldn't be a pain, I've heard, for so long. If they are, then there's something wrong. Your eyes aren't supposed to adjust to the lenses; the lenses should be adjusted to suit your eyes .

If you're just talking about the frame bothering your nose or your ears, though, that's a different story xD. If the glasses give you headaches for longer than a couple of weeks... That's a problem. I see a lot of people here complaining about dizziness, and that just shouldn't happen .
