At what age did you find out the truth about santa?

for me it was 5 and I am still in shock!

Santa is real. I see him at the mall.

I've always known about Santa.

I was eleven years old when I found out the truth about Santa. My grandma told me weeks before Christmas that time, since I was old enough to understand the truth =3=

I think at the age of 10 or 11, I read somewhere that "Santa was apparantely created by Coca Cola", asked if that was true to my dad, and got that heart breaking response. Knowing the truth about Santa hasn't affected my life in any kind of way since then, so oh well.

I'm probably too old to remember exactly when it was, bit of must have been when I was 5 or 6. For me, literally everything concerning Christmas between the ages of 6 and 12 is just a random blur. Christmas wasn't really that much fun when I was young.

Santa Claus is an alien to me. I learned about the myth long after the age in which I could have been hoodwinked by such a fantasy. I see these movies about him and I enjoy them of course but I never believed anything I viewed on a television or movie screen was reality. Even documentaries and newscasts distort what is real in their own way of explaining things. Facts can be skewed. Stories exaggerated. Father Christmas was never anything more than pure children's fantasy lore.

While my family respects that Christmas is the # 1 national holiday, we don't feel the need to decorate at all. It's a day we usually spend indoors where it's warm and watch sentimental movies together. My mother has already started watching the Christmas films on Youtube.com (She was raised Christian.) They are pretty good shows and can stand up to most theatre fare, even when it isn't December. My parents would like me to find an extension cord to power up the coloured lights that have come already set up with their new house.

In summary, St. Nick is as real as a dwarf with a pick. Christmas is as important as the length of my legs.

I also found out at the age of 3.

I was a curious child and I often woke up in the middle of the night. I went downstairs to keep an eye out for Santa, and hid behind the couch. Then, I saw Santa.

Or "Santa" would be more accurate.

I seem to have found a problem within this thread. You see, Santa is real, and we're all just delusional. The thing is, he doesn't deliver all the presents, he just does some, his elves help deliver as well. So unless you mean that, I learned the truth about Santa (that he's real) around age 4. Thank you all for your time.

My parents told me from the start that Santa was just a fun make believe story, so I never believed that Santa was real.

Let's see, young IB went until age 8 until I realized Mr. Santa was everybody, and how can that be physically possible, until I realize that Mr. Santa is some guy in red/white clothing.

Or it was because young IB was expecting Mr. Santa to bring presents and never does, maybe Mr. Santa was scared of the young IB and gave the young IB everything in the bag and never returned. We will never know.

I was never told by my parents about Santa really, THANK GOODNESS i always thought that he was fake, i mean come on... every one should know that Santa would be arrested by now, i mean come on... a random guy can just dress up as Santa and break into your home and then steal your giblets. Santa can't just barge into peoples homes.

What a lot of people don't know is that Santa claus is a rip-off of a dutch character, Sinterklaas. Yes, That is true.

Also, some people believed in santa up until 11? Wow.

Anyway, I believed in sinterklaas, I found out when I was 8 because someone I knew said something incredibly stupid

I don't remember but I can assume I stopped believing in him at age 12. Yes, that long.

I think it was around 9. That was when i went downstairs on Christmas Eve and noticed that the bearded guy putting my presents down wasn't Santa but, in fact, my dad.

I'm Jewish, so my parents just told me he was a Nazi and that's why I never got presents.

I was in fourth grade when I figured it out, so probably 8 or 9. No one told me he wasn't real, I just figured it out on my own.

My older sister spoiled Santa for me while around the ages of 4-6. It doesn't really bother me, (She has spoiled a lot of things for me) just spending time with my family, and all the activity was good enough for me.

I still remember that dreadful day...Some jerk in my kindergarten class told me Santa wasn't real. I called him a liar and made a big scene about it. When I got home, my family told me the truth. I was devastated.
