I wonder what genre of games are most played here... Is it Open World, Stealth, Action, Platformer, Shooter, Puzzle etc. Is it a crossover game? Is it an old game, or new?

I personally play more Stealth games now, as most games I play are on steam, and my collection is largely made up of stealth games. Recently I have tried a few Open World games, which are fun, but I haven't gotten very far into them. I love puzzle action games, like Zelda Ocarina of Time, newer shooters, like Medal of Honor, of Star Wars Battlefront II, and so on. Enough about the games I play, what about you guys? Which gaming types do you like?

I have an aching feeling that a thread like this already exists, but I'll post here.

I most play Strategy games. That means most all games by Paradox and Firaxis. Close runners up include shooters of any kind and indie games. I play games of all genres, just much less than those three genres.

Adventure is more for the story line and characters. RPG is my favorite, since I'm a big strategy guy. I love all the different ways you can play. Fighting is just being able to beat the other fighter, knowing that I'm better at the game. There are a lot of other genres, each with it's own set of reasons I could go over, but I'm not sure you want me to do that.

I depends on what I feel like playing. I usually play Counter Strike, a tactical FPS but sometimes I play Shovel Knight and Risk of Rain which are both side scrollers. Other times exploration/puzzle games like Tomb Raider and sometimes I play RPG's like FF7. There are a lot of games I have on steam and I try to play all of them...

I love to play strategy RPG's like Fire Emblem.  I most like to just play RPG's in general.  I like the feel of progression and getting stronger.  I love the cliché stories about how only 4 heroes can save the world with 4 gems.  They are just all around a good time for me.  They are especially fun, when they make fun of themselves (like in Cthulhu Saves The World), or when they just have bad writing for the story.

I will pretty much play anything if its fun, but I tend to gravitate more towards role playing, and strategy games like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy.  Though shooters and horror are up there on my list as well, because they are pretty fun, the only games I don't really play either the kind of games that are made for little kids, like Reader Rabbit, games that are for little girls specifically, like Barbie, or fighting games, like Street Fighter (though Tekken is very fun every once in a while!).

I consider myself an active to moderate gamer, so I really don't think there is just one definitive genre that pertains to me, personally ever genre offers something for my delight. Every thing from FPS to RPG, I know I may talk down about FPS's some times, but in reality there are quite the few that are good.

I play Spyro games a lot and they are the best games of platformer genre in my opinion. Of course I'm talking about the old games.
The best RPG game of all time is Grandia in my opinion.
And The Best Adventure game of all time is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. That Zelda game was the best one of them all.

For those who actually read other's comments, I'll not edit my main one, but post here instead.

I have REALLY liked the first parts/ intro into Tactical Shooters. Republic Commando is really fun. It's cool because you get to determine who should get shot first etc.
