As human beings, we explore, we always try to figure things out. That's how we've always been.
But one of the main, and most tiring questions of them all becomes "Why?" Why do we have this urge to explore? Why do we have this urge to think we can explore? What is the point of it? In the end, we have no answer, and the theories we do have on it can be very deep, and somewhat troubling indeed. What do you believe we live for in this earth? I believe we are all here to serve each other. That is literally the point of our society. We all live so we can grow into a world that supports the lives of everybody else in the world. And the point of all that comes down to the mere sake of exploration, and learning, and he betterment of everything we can think makes us better. A selfish purpose but, all creatures live in that way. But one of the main, and most tiring questions of them all becomes "Why?" Why do we have this urge to explore? Hmm... Let's go deeper? Why do we believe? Why do we have that capability? Why do we have the ability to make conscious decisions? Why do we have the ability to understand why we're making those decisions? Why do we think? Why can we think?

I like the line from waking life (which if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you watch it) "Exercise your human mind to it's fullest potential, while realizing that it is only an exercise" I fully believe in the collective unconscious theory, and that all our minds are linked on a deeper level than most of us can access But further, I sometimes feel that it's more than that I often feel that we aren't linked on an unconscious level, but rather separated on a conscience one That in essence, we are a single mind, and each individual is simply a surface thought And most of our wars and such amount to different ideas simply coming into conflict That all that conflict amounts to is an advanced cognitive process Now that is a humbling thought, one that belittles much of human existence Yet, I don't think it's crazy to think that humanity in general is just....not near as impotent as we think we are. And while I don't always feel this is the case, and my theories constantly shift and change it's a perspective I found myself entertaining a fair amount lately Now, if we look at it from that perspective, the question of "what is the point?" becomes kinda anti-climatic Because in that scenario, the point seems to be nothing more than to do what we feel we should and bounce off one another to see which of us "ideas" works out And trust that our singular mind will eventually find the answer to whatever question it's pondering Now that is just one of many perspectives of course. And the question of "why?" is always a fascinating one and of course is one we all have to answer for ourselves. The answer to that question for me is ridiculously simple given how deep I try to delve into everything else Why do I explore? Why do I bother? Because I enjoy it. And because I can. I'm not for any really deep theorize that require more than a small amount of faith to jump the gap.
In the end, I think that it is many things that bring fulfillment to human existence. The problem I have with posting it here, is it would require many ideas for you and the reader of this post to already know to really get what I mean, but I will try anyways. I as an individual, enjoy many things. I enjoy eating sweet, and flavorful food. I also enjoy relaxing. Yet I love stress, hence crawling the mystic passages of a metroid's cave and the stress of survival brings about a fulfillment altogether different than that of relaxing and being one with those whom I hold close. Yet all is required for true fulfillment. In order to be truly satisfied, we must find balance in all instances of this great deal called life. I sort of agree with the above poster's post, but in a much different way. I do believe that everything was created by God, many years ago. But think about this. If there was a great all powerful deity in the beginning, what prompted him to make everything? Did he need company so that he created others to speak with? Did he desire others whom He may love? Or did he choose to give himself the desire to love others? Is this entire world an artistic expression of the artist? Perhaps every characteristic is from the brush of the painter, and uncontrolled by us? But this. . . doesn't seem like that at all. We seem far too self aware of things, (even this topic) to be robots and mere artistic expressions of our creator. I feel that if Consciousness is limited to the physical realm, that in the end, I am about as conscious as a rock. For "we" both exist within this realm together. But is a typewriter conscious? Or a calculator? How much programming must a robot have before it is truly conscious? TRUELY conscious. I do not know, and I do not think that it is possible. For everything made in the physical world, must obey physical rules, and will become a perfectly scientific product of it's outcome that is reproducible with the exact same circumstances every time. We cannot break free from this IF we are only matter. But if everything is doomed to be exactly what it will be, then one must ask. Why is there variety? If there is only that which is set beforehand, then how did things get set in motion in the first place? For if there is only on point, and all things will go about as they must, then will expand out in all directions and create a sphere of one quality, and one shape. And no individuality would be expressed within this single sphere. If God is one point, from which all things expand from, and all things will follow his will? Then I ask you, what is it that makes up God's will, and how did he choose to make things express so much individuality? And why is it, that God can simply exist, and yet have desires, if he is all he needs? I suppose that God has the same choice that we have when we sit down in front of a new laptop and begin to create a game. We can create anyworld that we wish, and that world will reflect the character, and the torements- of our heart. Yet when two people have a baby, that baby will inherit traits from both parents. yet, it's will operates freely. Characteristics of the parents are passed down, but a new individual exists- even on it's own. God- in the beginning, could not be a complicated machine, or else we would have monotony of a machine, of a perfect sphere, within this world. (ugh, I know that people are losing me here come on! stay with me!!) Now, I know that people say that individual consciousness could be an illusion, but let me ask you this. sit down in front of a rock, and show it a red card, and a blue card. Tell the rock that you will only show it a blue card. Show it a red card. Have you fooled the rock? Well, no. The rock is not a conscious being that can be fooled. In the end, it also cannot hear any of your statements, so it couldn't even hear a lie- let along reason with itself to believe it. In the end, one must have senses- and a way to think about things- in order to be fooled. The idea that we are no individuals suggests that we are, in fact, fooled, but, we must first actually be individuals, in order to be fooled. lose, lose. A rock cannot be fooled because it is not an individual. But hold on! You say. How about something more complicated? Well, how bout a Mouse contraption? Well, in the end, the Mouse contraption does exactly what it's supposed to do, irregardless. It doesn't make any real choices, it just does exactly as it's supposed to do. It doesn't consider something for a moment! A computor program, cannot be fooled either, for it has no will- it can only take in information, and react exactly according to the information that it is given. All it is- like a mouse contraption- is a device made out of matter, that will do exactly as it is made to do depending on what matter does outside of it. Although it appears to be an individual to certain individuals- in the end, all it does is, exactly what its programmed to do. matter reacting with matter. But humans, question things. Like in this thread. Hence, we are individuals who can generate new ideas and contribute to this great art piece. One concept that I firmly believe in, is that matter only reacts by the rules of matter as much as much as it is commanded by a will. A will is required in order to break the fourth wall, and free space and time from monotony. A will that operates outside this world of matter- so as not to be limited by it. In the end, I don't think that God was the sole summation of everything, and that this Universe is the single output of his freely OP will. I think that in the beginning, God was all there is, and apparently, that he was the sole moral code as asserted by John 1:1 And apparently, The word was God. Now, obviously, the Bible was not written out yet, but the moral code- that I believe has existed in it's pure DNA state and has never changed, hence things like murder are recognized around the world as wrong. So, God, is the moral code. Now, what does this have to do with the point of existence? I'll get to that, but this is such a loaded question, that, like I said, requires much foreknowledge, but I'll try to give you my understanding as best I can. Now, if, all there was in the begging was God, then what does that mean for everything else? Well, we know that if everything just followed monotony, then we would have something like a large white sphere, or, nothing at all. But an individual created this world, and I think that it expresses all of His characteristics- in it's original format. But. God, I think. . . . took a part of himself and made each one of us, that he may speak to us and love his creation through us to Him. We are all individuals like God is. But, our fullfillment comes from doing as our minds have been created, as we adhere to the DNA of the Universe, this mysterious thing called "The Word" which even God is. The moral code is the meaning in life, BUT It extends to other things as well- such as work (Don't be lazy) and artisticness. In the end, we find fullfillment by doing what we as an individual needs- I have found in my studies many thing in phycology, and ancient Jewish tradition- wisdom that helps greatly with this part of life, and yes, alex is right. We are in this for each other- it is one of the number one ways that we as individuals find fullfillment in life. In fact, we have four basic needs in life according to ancient Jewish wisdom, but I feel like no one would be interested in that. BUT If you're interested, I will post what I know In order to be complete, I need. . . - What I need physically and the world can provide physically (food, water, shelter) - What I need physically that the world supplies spiritually. (friendship, love, connection, and esteem of others) -What I need spiritually and the world supplies physically. (a sense of security, that I look good, and culture) - What I need spiritually and the world supplies spiritually. ( a connection with God- the Holy One.) The Jewish people are taught that our purpose on this earth is "To heal the world." And also, if you save one life, then you've saved an entire world. Coming from how you've also saved the descendants that that person may have- thousands potentially. :3 Those are my thoughts on this topic. Thanks for reading. I think I know why we exist, we were born from our mothers and/or creator (if you a robot or android). The very things that we like are because of the land we live in (not everyone knows about I pod). The death part is simple once we die there is no way to be reborn (all religions agree with that theory) but somehow our DNA in our kids make it so that we live somehow. that's how life works and its not too complex if you open your mind you can see more. that's how life works and its not too complex if you open your mind you can see more. |

I didn't really bother reading too much into this because I felt lazy, but I will give you what I believe to be a decent answer: we can't know, at least not yet. The universe is a massive place, and with all the unexplored answers, and vast amount of territory we have yet to even see, and the possibility of there being multiple, parallel universes, and probably other sentient life somewhere in space, it would be impossible to find out as we are right now. This might sound far-fetched, but I was thinking that the universe might be some sort of "game board", if you will. Sentient beings were all separated in order to see if we could cooperate, or wipe each other out to get to the bottom of everything. Perhaps in order to reach a certain "fullness" and find out the true meaning of life and the universe, we would have to cooperate with the other beings out there. It could take an eternity, or perhaps it could be fulfilled if we can learn to unleash the full "potential" of our minds and bodies within an actual time-frame humans would be able to comprehend. Just a possibility. I don't think you'll really take me seriously here though. I think this might seem spammy. But our point in the universe is to be awesome and help each other out and to be the best of the best. Why would be here if we dont have a purposed. Everything has a point in the univeverse. The Mechanics will work together and we find out one day. Or maybe we are simply pawns in a much larger game with aliens. Now honestly if we knew we would try to perfect it like we humans tend to do. So we will continue to do what we do then Spoiler: That is the belief of a Weegee so I might be wrong. *reads the other comments* Well the other post might be more possible since their longer and I dont care to read them.I don't know but something might happen Spoiler: That is the belief of a Weegee so I might be wrong. *reads the other comments* Well the other post might be more possible since their longer and I dont care to read them.I don't know but something might happen |

Personally? I like to think it's just a quirk. A random and meaningless personality trait that most of us have. |

MechaMento : I golfclap your answer. I think we're here to continue the species. That's it. We're smart and we can think because humans have no other traits that would allow us to survive. We don't have claws, fangs, acceleration or great speed. We can't fly, swim, or hunt without tools. What is the point? Life. We're here to procreate and that's the end of story. Life may be random and not for anything specifically but it's slightly more interesting than geology without life. And once we're alive, we work extremely hard to continue with that living. I'm here to have fun. I'm here to enjoy things and while I don't consider myself a hedonist, I prefer the fun stuff to stress, strive, anger, and hate. I think we're here to continue the species. alexanyways : I agree, I think people should do those things. On a broader view I think we are suposed to populate the galaxy, like a flower In a field, also we would have to take care of the earth and animals for a long time to do this, Its a shame to see violence and not harmony In the world, I guess more people tend to enjoy the every day life more then looking Into the far future. |
