My dream game would probably be a Zelda game with free roam like Skyrim or WoW, with a creation system that allows you to create custom items, weapons, and Tunics/Armors. It would also have the combat engine of Wind Waker, and maybe the visuals of Skyward Sword/Twilight Princess.

My type of dream game would be kind of like the SAO with the same console. It would be a free-roam MMORPG, though there would be quests there would be no definite path to victory. The only probable quest would be the one of reaching the boss. I would try to make the quests limited and a great quest that can only be completed once in a certain period of that that way the competivity can be higher on the game. I would probably try to come up with a lot of DLC and other min igames too keep the players entertained in my game. The game would have a player affected economy, different kind of roles (not only adventurer) different jobs, some of my game modes would be tournaments, in teams of 5, individual or whole race wars (though I would make sure the race picks a certain number of players from their race so that the game won't be unfair.

If I had to pick ONE brand of ideal video game, it'd probably be some form of RPG game loosely based off the Kingdom Hearts franchise. The voice actors would be the same at least. Not sure if I'd try to keep any of the original storyline. 

BUT if I could make ANY game in the world, I'd probably design some high tech helmet/controller that basically creates a game type based on what I want to play most at the given time. The characters would remain the same but their interactions with their visual surrounding would change. Like if one day I'm in an RPG mood I'd play as Sora and enjoy some kickass cutscenes, but if the next day I'm in an FPS kinda mood then I would still play as Sora but it'd be like KH meets CoD (aka the greatest thing ever).

Maybe, if I were to pitch the fundamentals of a game I think could be cool to play they would be.

A post-apocalyptic open-world first-person game that emphasizes increasingly complex settlement-building. The difficulty of survival alone, and with others (good and evil) in a harsh environment would be present in many facets of the game.

Just huge expansive worlds driven by dungeons and story. Large character base to chose from with sub classes of animal familiars that travel with you and help out by adding to your skills as well as helping in their own ways. Lots of realism : Anything you can think of that can happen in real would be in the game. You'd live there while in the game. Have a home , home town, hunt, work, dungeon crawl for profit and story advancing, etc... 
Each character class would have their own special abilities in combat or non combat skills. Huge variety of pets and partner animals as well.
