Another Mario thread! I also got my interest back on it! OK so everyone knows that the Wii U sales are horrible so now the new game releases are in stores now. We know that Mario Kart Wii had a huge success. Do you think Mario Kart 8 will have a huge success as the Wii version? I'll buy the Mario Kart 8 soon and I'll tell you what I think!

Mario Kart is one of the popular games in the Mario products so why not? There weren't many games that stood out when the Wii U first came out. Now that there are more popular and well known games to everyone such as Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros for the Wii U, people will want to buy the console for the games. I've been seeing tons of Mario Kart 8 live streams since last week so hopefully that Mario Kart 8 will have a huge success.

PS Luigi is the best.

I don't think it will "save" the Wii U but I think it will help. They're are a lot of Playstation and Xbox fan boys (and girls) out there who wouldn't even touch a Wii U and that's how things seem to be going right now. I'm sure Mario Kart 8 will make people notice that it is starting to have good games but I don't think it will bring it to a level that Playstation and Xbox are at. Not in a million years. Don't get me wrong though, I love my Wii U and I totally would have chosen it over a Playstation and an Xbox. That is all because I like Nintendo (And the anticipation of a new Zelda game :3)

No, it will not save it, but it will certainly help. Nintendo really messed up this time around. They released their system at the power-level of last-generation systems. If they were going to release the Wii U, it should have at least been 1.5 x the power of the older generation. The power difference causes the multi-platform publishers to stop considering it as a viable, easy to port to source, and they simply overlook it. Without that multi-platform support, the system is doomed to die. I like exclusives better than the lame multi-platform titles (because of their usual superior quality), but the market does not agree with me. I still think it will be able to live for a while, but it will not see the success that Nintendo hoped for originally.

Just like the others said, it won't save the Wii U but it will help. The Mario games have always been popular and especially the Kart series could bring some old (fans back) and new fans. The only downside is that people will play this game mostly together instead of with friends so it won't be sold in huge numbers I guess.

It already has, unfortunately. The WiiU sales have raised by 90% since Mario Kart 8 came out, and it (Mario Kart 8) sold over 1.2 million copies in three days.

I say unfortunately because all of these sales tells Nintendo that we want a Wii3, and the majority of us do not. But, being as oblivious to their customer wants as they admitted they were this past E3, they'll likely give us one. They told us that sometimes they had no idea what their fans wanted, and they were spot on there. All they need is to hire a competent PR director, but I'll stop ranting about that for now.

Mario Kart 8 is the best game I have seen with visuals, but it will not save the Wii U alone, the next Super Smash Brothers game will need to be the final piece in that puzzle, then we will have a successful console on our hands.
