What is your favorite controller from any video game console? What controller feels best, looks best, works the best, ect. There are so many controllers and each have their pros and cons and everyone seems to have a favorite for one reason or another, so what is yours?

My favorite controller is the 3 button Sega Genesis controller. That controller feels the best to me, the D-pad is one of the best I have ever used, the buttons are nice and large and in a perfect spot, and it just feels right in my hand. I also like the 6 button Genesis controller for fighting games but that is really all I use it for.

GenesisJunkie : I like the GameCube controller. It has a lot of buttons, but I just like the C-buttons and Z-button and that stuff, that's rather unusual. Its curvy design with the admittedly ridiculously hard to press huge shoulder buttons L and R. And that design that isn't as comfortable as ergonomic it looks. I really like it for some reason.

I'm also a big fan of the circle, triangle, square and X button of the Playstation systems and its history behind it (what they mean), as well as the controllers themselves. Perhaps because that's the controller I'm most used to play with.

And another controller I like is the SNES, while I don't really like the feeling in your hands after playing for a while with it. Not very comfortable. Oh, I have to say that I mean the European SNES, not the American. While the American console and controllers are rather angularly (that's the right word, I think) and purple-greyish, the European SNES and its controllers are more round with the colors red, blue, green and yellow, which I like a lot; besides the mentioned uncomfortability. Also, the start and select button don't always worked that well.

I never had a SEGA controller in my hands before, though. Yeah, shame on me. I'm not very familiar with SEGA's consoles. ^^'

The Sega controller is your favorite? That actually surprises me because I actually do not like it at all. For me the size was just weird.

My favorite controller is the N64 controller. Why? Well I was basically born with that controller in my hands. I grew up with it and the games I played, was just perfect with the controller.

My second favorite controller will have to be the Xbox 360 controller. Just the size, shape, and joysticks are spot on. I especially like the triggers with the controller, it just fits perfectly.

If I had a third favorite, it would be the GameCube controller, also.

The PS2 controller without a doubt. i also really love the N64 and gamecube controller but the PS2 Dominates for me.

It was just so comfortable and easily the best controller in the entire playstation line. All the playstation controllers are awesome.

The SNES controller is very much like the playstation controller.  But that is obvious Since the Playstation would originally be a Addon for the SNES. Nintendo ditched them... And thn... Sony surpassed them in sales. Silly nintendo, What if they never stopped that project? No playstation and nintendo would be dominating like the Nes days. Altough if the Playstation did not come out the saturn would maybe become a succes and sega would win the wars. Wow.... all just depending on the release of the Playstation. And I love the SNES controller.

The Ps2's controller is great because of the Awesome  D pad, The most comfortable Analog stick I have ever played with. The awesome buttons. And just the layout of the Controller is just so awesome.

As for the megadrive Controller. It's okay in my opinion. It's good for playing games like Shinobi.

Ryroe : Shame on you! Lol, just kidding. I really dislike the Gamecube controller. I haven't been a fan of a Nintendo controller since the Nes.

Benji16 : Some people find the original 3 button to be a little too large but it fits me prefect. You may like the 6 button controller better, it is smaller and shaped a little differently. I hated and still hate the N64 controller. It is the ugliest and most uncomfortable controller to me. I also don't like the snes one too well. Most of the games I played used 2 of the 6 buttons on the controller and left the other ones useless and I don't like the button layout. It has a nice hand feel though.

GenesisJunkie :   I have played with the 6 button controller, I also do not like it, mostly because for the games I have for the Sega Genesis don't really need the six buttons. I guess I am just not a Sega controller fan . I do agree that the N64 controller is quite ugly, but again I grew up with it so I gotta love it .  (:

I have relatively large hands, so a lot of the smaller controllers are still usable, but not very comfortable to hold. For me, I have two favorites, which are the Sega Dreamcast and Nintendo GameCube controllers. Both fit in my hand perfectly and have a very good button layout.

The PS2 controller. Since the PS2 is the console that I've owned for the longest time, it's only natural that I like the controller so much. I don't have my PS2 anymore, but I do have a controller stored somewhere around my house. Hmm...

But right now, I'm loving the GameCube controller. I forgot how awesome the GameCube was, so I got my old one back, and I've been playing a lot. And the controller is just awesome.

The DualShock controllers feel the most comfortable. With the exception of the first one that had difficult to press buttons. My favorite is the third, but that is probably because I have not been well accustomed to the fourth yet, as I do not have a PS4, and therefore have no need to actually get the fourth controller. Still, they are nice, small, and comfortable controller, and they fit all of my needs. I was never really able to use the other controllers well. The Xbox controllers felt off, and really large, and bulky, and the Nintendo controllers just felt strange with weird button placements. I will admit that the Nintendo controllers are definitely really neat looking though.

The Gamecube controller. The button placement is great, both thumb sticks work great, and the L and R buttons are the best shoulder buttons there are. And it feels more comfortable than any other controller I've used. The only way I could see it getting better would be a slightly better D-pad, and a second Z button.

Good thread, buddy. This has always been one of my favorite questions...

I always thought that the best controllers are those of the Nintendo GameCube and the XBOX 360. Both controllers have perfect button placement and fit perfectly into my hands.

TheFadedWarrior : A lot of people have been saying the GameCube controller. I guess its better than the N64 controller but I don't like it. The layout is a little screwy and I hate that little yellow joystick thing. I have heard quite a few people say that they think the Xbox 360 controller is the best ever made. I had an Xbox360 a while ago but I don't really remember what the controller was like. I like the original Xbox controller alright I guess but if its anything like that then I wouldn't call it the best.

This is surely an easy choice. The Nintendo 64 controller can feel weird when playing Perfect Dark or Goldeneye 007, and the NES controller sometimes leaves blisters on my ring finger. I'll go with the SNES controller. The controller doesn't feel awkward to hold, and it makes playing games such as Street Fighter and Earthbound a lot more fresh.

My favourite is probably (surprise) the Gamecube controller.
The N64 one is okay but the stick wears out pretty easily.
The Wii has... issues, shall we say, with connectivity.
And the WiiU is incredibly clunky (though it doesn't take too long to get used to.)
Only the regular GC controller though. The Butterfly one has weirdly sensitive X and Y buttons and the control stick doesn't have angles.

Does the Gameboy Color count? (Lol) It was the perfect fit for my little chubby child hands and it just worked so well for on the go gaming! Big fan of handhelds in general, love my DS even though it's admittedly clunky and bigger than the original Gameboy.

But for "real" controllers, Gamecube and PS2 are by far my favorites, kinda for similar reasons. The layout was easy, it wasn't too big so it was simple to reach the buttons, and it was easy to comprehend what button does what. I always found the Xbox controllers to be really big and complicated for some reason, so I always favored Gamecube and PS2 growing up.

GenesisJunkie: Yeah, the problem with the GameCube controller is that the C-stick and the X/Y buttons were kind of inconveniently placed. And about the Xbox 360 controller, the 360 version is a lot better.

1. The original Xbox controller had a fat, more bulky shape. The 360 controller is easier to grip.
2. The original Xbox controller had the "back" and "start" buttons
very inconveniently placed.
3. The Xbox 360 controller doesn't have the black/white buttons (which weren't used very much and were also very inconveniently placed).

TheFadedWarrior : I really like the layout of the fat Xbox controller and like the remodel alright. The fat one makes me think of a Sega Saturn controller (kinda).

I think I should have just made the thread "What Nintendo 64 or Gamecube controller do you like best?" lol. Come on people, throw me a curve ball. I want to see someone who loves an odd ball controller the best.

I really enjoy the Atari Jaguar controller. I like the crazy slant that the c, b, and a buttons are on and the D-pad is semi nice, but I really like the odd key pad thing on it. It holds pretty nice in the hand considering that its as big as a model 3 Genesis and looks like a 3 button Genesis controller and a phone had a baby.

PS3 controller. I loved the PS2 controller because it was comfortable and the buttons were easy to reach and use. The PS3 controller is just that but wireless. All other controller have weird shapes but the PS2/PS3 controller fits ion tyour hand perfectly.

The Gamecube is also quite good. The shape fits my hand perfectly. The analog sticks are a bit annoying to use though.

Well I would have to say the ps2/ps3 controller because it has some places to grip on from unlike the SNES. This makes it less likely to fall out of your hands which I like. The buttons are also very easy to press and go down unlike the SNES too.

I might choose the xbox controller if there was not a huge joystick in the middle making it feel uncomfortable for me.
