Hello Monster here, With another thread! This time it's about: STUPID MOVIE CLICHE'S!?

My absolute worst has to be.......  the villain not shooting when he has the chance cliché! UGH!! When you're watching a action movie the Bad guy has the good guy right where he wants him but then..... HE STARTS TO TALK. It's like shoot him darn it!!. And of course the Good guy wins because of it.

The James bond films... overuse that man. It needs to stop. It's been here since the start of action films and a end needs to come.

I also don't like the 360 shot. It's a recent clichÈ and it goes like this: The camera does a 360 shot of a character... And I literally get sick of it.

One cliche I am really annoyed by is the "Dying character dies just after finishing his speech" It's like how do you have enough time to say exactly what you wanted to say? It seems nit-picky, but it annoys me
Backwards cliche'd from last sentence, "Dying Character dies before finishing his speech" This one seems more believable, but still seems overused.
The "Found my true love after seeing them for like a minute" cliche. It takes time to fall in love with somebody, but apparently it just takes a couple of seconds for movie people, even enough love to lose their partner they already have for another person they just met.

One cliche that I hate is when the main character always gets the girl/guy. Why must everything good happen to the main character? The other minor and supporting characters also need a purpose and storyline to be in the show/movie in the first place.

Another one is when the first character or a minor character always trips on something out of nowhere just to get killed in a horror movie. Nobody wants to trip on something and stay on the ground for a good few minutes. Your life is at risk with a serial killer on loose. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE ALREADY! YOU NEED TO LIVE! Same with people in movies who happen to think it's safe to look in a dark creepy place or room in horror movies and then the killer pops out of nowhere like it's supposed to be surprising.

No. You did NOT say that James Bond needs to end. James Bond movies are AMAZING and perfect. I hate the movies where the superhero wins like Spider-Man or superman.

Barathemos : ... did you just say you hate millions of movies in one fell swoop?

Every war movie has that moment where everything's quiet and you hear sad music while the soldiers silently scream like nuts and shoot. We get it, war is bad l

Oh, and random kidnappings. They're anything but.

The one cliche I always hated was movies that were based on real events that you are aware of already. You pretty much know how things are going end up. There were some exceptions that were made for Hollywood purposes like Cool Runnings and that one movie I forgot which starred the Rock and was based on one guy getting kidnapped and a couple getting murdered but was made into a comedy.

How about how the Police, FBI or some other authorities always manage to conveniently arrive just a fraction after the good guys have already dealt with the bad guys?

CPR works less than 10% of the time and is meant as a method of keeping someone alive until they can get real help from EMS or a hospital.  It doesn't magically make them sputter and kick back to life.  The success rate is terrible, though it is better than nothing, and usually leads to broken ribs, bruised lungs, smashed vertebrae and a variety of other injuries.  People can't go through sustained CPR and then wake up and run from the monster, bad guy, explosion, enemy, whatever.

It's also exhausting for the person performing CPR.  It wears you out so quickly that most people die when the care giver's muscles fail completely.

I hate that it always works.  I understand the plot device and I know it's to create suspense.  But every time a main character almost dies, they always survive.  Just skip that scene and keep things moving.  There is no suspense.

Also, I don't like the cliche that the good guys always win and everything is great.  I like movies with mixed endings.  Some good guys make it, some don't.

I hate it when nothing ever happens to the main character... ever. I saw this movie a few years ago, it was about an Italian Jew in a Nazi concentration camp. So it was a dad with his son and the dad was the main character. At the end of the movie the dad was ordered to go around the corner (which is where he was killed) and it was a good ending to the movie because it was pretty sad and real.

The main Villain having an evil laugh or saying some long and drawn out speech about his plan while having the hero tied up and then suddenly the supporting characters usually the comedy relief characters saves the day and the hero is saved and defeats the villain. I have seen it in a lot of films. Characters coming back to life or fake deaths. That usually annoys me. The happy ever after ending where everything is suddenly all better again.

I hate it when there's a kid (or kids) and they have certain disorders or problems that keeps interfering with the story. It just gets annoying. Why can't kids just be kids?

I have seen  some who have the villain say every detail of his/her evil plan including where will they be ubicated, or when the hero has infinite ammo.

I hate the fake jump scares in horror movies. It seems to be in almost every single horror movie. The main character is alone in their house, or on the street somewhere, and you hear scary music. Right as it gets tense, something taps the character on the shoulder. He or she screams, but it ends up just being their friend. Really, who greets people, when there's a serial killer on the loose, by tapping them on the shoulder. Do these people know how to say the word hello?

I abhor the times when the villain clearly has the upper hand, but they wait too long before killing one of the main characters, and as a result, they lose or die. I also hate when characters somehow miraculously come back from the brink of death. Neither of them are good storytelling mechanics (in my opinion) and they just seem like a big cop out.
