Pikachu is an incredibly popular Pokémon. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that Pikachu is the most well-known of all the Pokémon. It's on the cover of Pokémon Yellow and it's even one of the main characters in the Pokémon anime. But what do you think about Pikachu? Do you think Pikachu is overrated and doesn't deserve all of this attention? Or is Pikachu your favorite Pokémon ever?

It became the series mascot due to the anime I believe. That kinda sums up the popularity and well know reasoning. I personally like pikachu as its unique and has a design that isn't specifically for any gender preference. You can't really say a mascot is overrated and doesn't deserve the attention because that's what its supposed to have to be the mascot. Pikachu isn't my most favorite Pokémon but its definitely up there

Thebiguglyalien : Yes he is. To be honest I HATE Pikachu. Why? Just because Pikachu is the hero's partner it DOESN'T mean that it has to be a main Pokemon. In my Pokemon Y file I caught a Pikachu and I evolved into a Raichu. Raichu is better than Pikachu. why their making Pikachu the main Pokemon?

Well, you automatically think of Pikachu when you think of Pokémon. In the games, he's very fast but pretty fragile too. I think he's overrated.

You have to think about this logically. 
First of all : YES! Pikachu is over rated!
2nd : Not too over reated
3 : but yes still because, think of it like this; If a pokemon like diglett or eevee was Ash's main AND the Pokemon Mascot, wouldn't you just have to want it, even a little??

YES. Because ash uses pikachu, everyone knows about pikachu. Do they know about the actually good pokemon? No. Pika is the symbol of pokemon, which means it is over rated.

Fun Fact: I only learned about pikachu when my pichu on my crystal file evolved xD

But yes, it is overrated. UNLESS you hold a light ball, it's practically useless. Or eviolite I suppose, but that is a dumb idea. 

I -to this day- still believe that nintendo should have had something like eevee as the mascot.

I am going to be following the overrated train. Pikachu is seriously overrated. Pikachu may be cute, and it may also be the main Pokémon of the original Anime, but that does not mean that Pikachu is great. Pikachu is extremely weak in the games, and is only really useful if you evolve it into a Raichu. Even then, I still probably would not use Raichu, and Raichu is also not Pikachu, so Pikachu is still on the low end. But yeah, totally overrated. 

Pikeachu is not overrated. He's the mascot, so he's supposed to feel "overrated" He's supposed to be everywhere in the franchise, that's what a mascot pretty much is.

sop281 : I'm sorry, but Pikachu is a really powerful Pokemon. Much better than a lot of other Pokemon, he has good stats, and a pretty alright move-pool. He's very, very useful, mostly in Red/Blue and it's remakes, as you can get one in Viridian Forest and have a good Pokemon to face Water types. Plus, he has his own special hold item, which doubles his special attack and attack (Only Sp. Attack in the first couple)

Now Charizard, that's an overrated Pokemon. He's good, but people treat him as if he was the best, coolest Pokemon, they treat him as a Poke-God or something.

Pikachu, oh boy. I have to say, he is overrated. His famous moves such as Thunderbolt and even a few others that he can learn bring up the fact that he is quite a good pokemon. In the Smash Bros series, I don't mind him, unless you mention the fact that people especially newbies spam thunderbolt in their only hope to win. That reminds me of a time on basic brawl where I was in a group by myself with a no-item pikachu thunder spammer. Kept beating the crap out of me no matter if I had a reflector character or a good one like Falco or even try to counter with pikachu. If you talk about the fact that he is pretty cute, I'll just say that I think there really had to be a different mascot, like Ivysaur, or maybe even a Wigglytuff. She inflates herself scaring off any attackers. It was shown in a Japanese pokemon clip where Professor Oak talks about her. Cuddles her too hard. Nintendo could've changed the mascot but thought of pikachu. You'll be asking, "Why?" so that's what I need to say about Pikachu's overration. (Not an actual word, though.)

Also, Jiggly Jiggly~ She could've been a starter replacement. We know she is horrible in attacking, defense, and speed power, but in Smash, she dominates Melee any day of the week.

Pikachu is definitely overrated from my point of view.

Pikachu has been used so many times whether it would be in the anime or in games. Pikachu even has its own star games like Hey You Pikachu and Pokemon Yellow. It's also been on many covers in games. It is one of the main reasons why Pokemon is so famous from the starting point.

sop281 : I never said that Charizard was not a powerful Pokémon, because he is. I'm saying that he doesn't deserve all the praise he gets, since I could easily beat him with a lot of Pokémon. If it were possible to catch them in the wild, then I would. But it's not. And, Pikachu IS powerful, and Raichu counts as well. If you train him correctly, it could be a powerful electric type.
And, it sounds like you think the word 'powerful' means the offense stat. No. It means how hard it is to beat, how easy it is to use, and how quickly and easily it will knock out the opponent. It's not the offense stat that makes electric types good. It's the speed. And, amazingly, Raichu has both. Yes he does count, since we're discussing Pikachu as a whole.

Thebiguglyalien : Well...I reviewed Pikachu in my Pokemon review's before,And i gave it a 2.9/5,However.Looking back on it,I should have gave it a 3.2,It's good for what it is.A solid Electric type,However.Don't think  your getting anything better than that.

Mecha Leo : That anime was good.

Mecha Leo : What does? It's a great representation of the game in a way kids would enjoy. That's what they were aiming for, and I think they hit the nail on the head, and I still enjoy it now. It has great action scenes, memorable characters,
and a plot that was better and more complex then the game. I'd say that's a pretty good show.
