Like for example: One time I was playing Pokemon on my phone and then a classmate of mine approaches to me to say "is that Mario?! I played that game!" I literally wanted to bang my head on the desk when she said that...

I guess it's similar to how some people refer to Soda Pop as "coke" (which is a specific type of soda pop) and how some people refer to a tissue as a "kleenex" (which is a brand that sells tissues).
