I sometimes use the X-ray mod and too many items. I say sometimes because i belive excessive use of them ruins the game. I would use more mods but whenever i try to install them, minecraft goes crazy and crashes, and then i have to re-download it.

Nope. I don't really feel like changing the game, so I don't use or download them. I only have one of them that makes everything Japanese-themed (e.g. Bonsai trees), and it's pretty dumb anyways...

Nah, I think that it is more fun to play it the way that it was supposed to be played. Most mods make the game less challenging, and therefore, less fun.

Y'know I picked the first one, but I don't think that mods necessarily make the game "better."

I think they make the game more interesting. I mean. Basic Minecraft has it's limits, and while I'm in no way saying that the game in it's base state is dull, it's fun to change things up a bit.

For example, the Creeper type mod creates a bunch of different creeper explosions based on their color. Like water explosions, fire explosions, and levitation explosions.

But I don't usually use mods that make survival mode easier. It's mainly to make it more challenging and interesting if anything else.

I have used game mods to play alternate mini-games of minecraft, such as 'the Creeping Dead' (a spin-off of the TV show).

Game mods have opened up a whole world of Minecraft mini-games that I have yet to explore.

For all you mod cheaters out there, you wonder why on most servers you're easily caught? It's simple, us admins use mods too. We have X-ray to see flying users underground and we can see your tunnels from above ground. Of course, we can always watch with '/visible'.

In fact, as admin on a server, I was supposed to keep my Modded clients updated and use them each time I went on the server.

No matter how good you think you are at hiding the mods, there are always a few small tell-tale signs that will get you caught (if there's a smart admin online).

I enjoy playing the game without modifications. I guess I am not bored enough to start installing some. Not saying only bored people install them, but I'm currently entertained with what the game offers as it is

Okay, I do not wanna start a flame war but I HATE vanilla MC, I always use mods that add more bosses, nukes, guns, armor, godzilla, and a ton of epic stuff.
one mod I had had a 1000 attack damage sword, and a 50 attack damage sword, the 50 one you got from mining 18 ore, and for the 1000 attack damage one you needed to kill 8 bosses to get the sword in which you need to use the 50 attack damage sword
The Kraken: 1000 health: very hard
Water Dragon 150 health: very easy and can be killed with a diamond sword.
Jumpy Bug: 250 health: kind of hard
Triffid: 100 health: VERY easy and can be killed with a iron sword
MOTHRA: 250 health: requires the 50 attack damage sword
nightmare : 600-1000 health: impossible even with 50 attack damage sword
basilisk: 200 health: requires the 50 attack damage sword.
then the scorpion: 300 health: takes 3 hits with the 1000 attack damage sword so nearly impossible.
you craft all the items you get from the mobs and the 50 attack damage sword and you get: BIG BERTHA!
This sword has 1000 attack damage and can hit mobs from 10 blocks away, BUT you need to kill all those bosses so its not THAT OP!

Chindogu : I never use mods. It's pretty bad looking in my opinion.

I love playing the normal version better. I use mods about a year ago but now I'm "Back to Normalcy."

I used to have a few mode, but now that I am playing more and more multiplayer, I had to give up on them.

I generally don't use mods, not even texture packs.
The only time I'll be playing with mods is on a server with the mods there to alter the experience. I go on the Wynncraft sever a lot and that has it's own RPG style mod, other than that I haven't downloaded or used any, not since I downloaded the aero plane mod on my old account/computer.

I play with some mods, like Industrial Craft 2 and Buildcraft, but not with modpacks like FTB. I prefer balanced mods. For example, Industrial Craft 2 has a way of making diamonds without finding diamond ore, but in order to make them, you need a stack of coal as well as some obsidian, bricks, or iron. I still like to play vanilla, though.

I'm not a fan of using mods due to incompatibility on various levels. For example, every time an update comes out, all mods need to be updated with the corresponding Minecraft release. Second, if I try to play on a world that was originally built around some types of mods, whenever I try to play that world on an un-modded JAR, there is always the possibility that some of the world will be corrupted by the vanilla game that can't reconize certain entities and blocks created by the said mod. Third, there are currently tons of content in the vanilla game that I haven't had a chance to try out yet, and adding a mod just makes things more complicated than they need to be.

I do however use resource packs to modify the overall look of the game. The artistic style in Minecraft is very neat, but after a while it looks a bit bland and not that interesting over a long period of time.

I do not use mods because they take the fun out of the game, and playing creative mode is the same thing as mods, so you don't need them. Also I hate installing things to my computer.

Of note, not all mods are bad. I mention this due to several of the posts I'm reading in here. While in general they're used for cheating purposes, there are several that aren't. Optifine is one particular mod that any PC minecrafter should look up. Essentially it makes the game more configurable, run faster, and work better with detailed texture packs. If you're interested, here's the link:
