Do your parents owe you a birthday party? If so, care to share why?

mrfe : they don't owe my one because i choose not to have them and besides it's a lot of money to do them anyway. and i'm okay with just a normal birthday with some family i mean that's good enough

I've never had a birthday party, and well, we just CAN'T have a birthday party. my family is always struggling in money matters, so it would just take up so much money. And while I'll get a gift or two, we don't do much other than make a cake and eat out somewhere decent. No parties though. I wouldn't want a party anyway, too noisy and there's not really anything to do.

Nah, I wouldn't say my parents owe me anything aside from a place to live and some food to eat (and video games and money and a car and gas money and shoes and clothes...)



Out of all seriousness, though, my family doesn't celebrate birthdays. We make a cake or cupcakes (I always make my own on my birthday) or sometimes just ice cream if that's what the person whose having the birthday wants. But no candles or singing happy birthday or anything. We don't get presents or anything like that. And out of all honesty, I like it that way. I never really wanted a birthday party, anyway.

I think birthday celebrations are stupid. Congratulations you didn't die during childbirth and you survived "X" number of revolutions of the earth around the sun. That's not really an achievement.

If anything your mother should get to celebrate your birthday more than you do. She did all the work

As for me, I'm not much for celebrating birthdays and I'm not a big fan of surprise gifts or anything. I prefer just spending time with family and having a nice meal.

No they don't, I don't like parties. If they give me one, I'll probably just be very upset, considering that I've already told them about it many times. Also, only a few know when my birthday is and I'd like to keep it that way.

I did when I was really young, like maybe up to my 6th or 7th birthday, but then soon after, I haven't really had a birthday party anymore, it's just like every other day to me on my birthday. So I really ain't much title to a birthday party. Not even on my 13th, 16th or 18th birthdays I haven't throw a party.

Nah. I honestly don't really like birthday parties and that kind of stuff. I feel that it is unnecessary and just ends up being a pointless mess after all the work you go through in setting up the party. I do celebrate birthdays but I don't really like making a whole party for it.  

Coming from someone who just had his birthday yesterday, I don't need one, it is rather loud, you have to plan and decorate and make invitations and overall I just find it to be a hassle, plus I think I have come of age where I don't really need much for my birthday, just a nice cake and maybe some money and I think I will manage just fine. It is just too much work into doing something that will only last 1 day, if that. I am not really much of a party type of person either to be honest....I think that it is important to maybe do this when your child is young, maybe up until they are like 7 or 8 or whatever because those are the important years that matter, and then after that, maybe don't go all out....at least that is how it was for me....so I don't really need anything fancy for my birthday, certainly nothing that causes stress either. 

No, my parents do not owe me a birthday party because I have always had a birthday party on my birthday or after my birthday. Also, I am fine with not having one.

I'm not entitled to a birthday party. I don't want one. I don't want to share my sweet food with many people. Me and my family are the only people that should get a piece of cake for my birthday. Then some nosey people are going to check out parts of my house. So no. I already have to spend a quarter of my birthday in school if it lands on a weekday. The strange thing is, if you asked me this question 7 years ago I would've said yes. I do deserve an award for being the first to reach the egg though. Good thing I get 2 gifts.

They don't owe me anything. They do enough for me as is. You know, like food and stuff. We usually just visit with family for my birthday. I haven't had a real birthday party for a loooong time. It's not really something I like to do anymore.
