My question is exactly what I asked on the title. Sonic Boom seems like a very different game from those before it, seeming to have Jak and Daxter and even Uncharted inspiration coming from the developers who created it. My question is, what do you all think about that? Along with the redesigns of some of the characters. I have to admit, I'm willing to wait and see what happens. It seems like it could be a pretty good game if handled right. Though, it definitely has a chance to alienate some fans. So, what do you all think about it? Will it be one of the games that brings the franchise back on track, or another failure?

It looks like it has potential even if it looks a little weird. Just look at Knuckles, he shouldn't look ripped. And Sonic's legs seem odd too. But if the game is made good then it will be good and I'll slowly forget most of the design. I see some people complaining like crazy about this though. 

I have faith Sonic Boom will do good with the community.

I think it would be kind of a bust. People  would still get them and may like it. Like other users, I think this is a bit weird. Some people aren't even familiar with Sonic.

I have seen gameplay of it a couple of times, and I agree, it's a bit on the weird side, but it's still fun and, like sedo said, it could have potential.

It DOES have potential, from what I've seen, but it has a few too many flaws that could wind up with it busting. One problem, for instance, is assuming that everyone will immediately warm up to the idea.

I watched a video about that game the other day. I did not like what I seen. The characters look almost laughable, and that is probably my biggest issue with the game. It really wouldn't matter if I though it was great or terrible, I wont be getting the system its on any time soon (or probably ever) so I couldn't play it even if I wanted to. On a side note that new Sonic Lost World game looks interesting. Has any one seen the Zelda thing yet in it?

I'm excited for it though I'm getting the 3ds version and not the wii u version.
But it seems pretty good so far and the developers seem like they know what they're doing not too mention I love the new looks of the characters (even though many seem to hate them especially knuckles design). But I still am a bit on guard as the Sonic games failing horribly has happened a lot in the past.

The game doesn't seem very much like the other main series games but I guess that is to be expected since it is a spin off.

I think it has potential. I'm not sure quite yet. I do find the character redesigns to be rediculous, though. What's with the hipster sonic all of a sudden? Why is knuckles a giant?

Very skeptical. I think it will go bust as the sonic fan base seems 50-50 at least when I see videos on You tube. I am not that interested in the cartoon. The game looks OK but I will need to see more.  I reckon this is the new formula that may be here for sometime like the hedgehog engine but who knows. I am going to wait before getting it.

Looks pretty good to me. The new character designs are ok, Amys is the best I think. I like how she seems more independent and swift. Knuckles design doesn't bother me since its to show his strength. As long as it plays like Sonic Adventure which it looks like then I'll be happy.

This could work, but I think that it's been to. . . "modernized" in that it's trying to get with the times to much, when sonic was already one of the coolest things around. Also, knuckle's redesign is particularly annoying.

Honestly, I'm sure as of yet, I've only heard about the trailer. The game's only gonna get released in America, so that probably tell us quite a bit about why things were redesigned.

As long as it preserves the "feel" of what makes Sonic something "Sonic", then I'm game.

I just don't want them to try and adapt an old favorite game we all love, and try to shoehorn the fanboy-avatar character (see: Chris Thorndyke) into the story at important plots, and all that...

I'm glad they want to keep the voices consistent across the show and games, so that's nice too.

When I saw this I was like....WHAT? NO!! lol. I am a die hard Sonic fan from the time Sonic came into being on the Genesis, and while I liked the redesigns from the 16 bit to the new styles of the characters, I don't really like the designs for them in the upcoming Sonic Boom. Sonic is wearing too many bandages/scarves...what's up with that, ppl? Also, Knuckles looks like he used steroids, and I don't like that at all because Knuckles was like my favorite character as a kid....I don't like his design. From what I've seen of the demo in the trailers of the games, it looks like the gameplay could actually be fun, if I can look past the bad character designs, though even if I do play this game, it's unlikely I'll grow fond of the way the characters look. I won't be buying this game though, at least not brand new. If I decide to buy it, I'll wait until it's pr-owned and abit old, and probably trade it in when I'm done. I hope that the designs for the characters in Boom don't become the base designs for Sega of America's Sonic games of the future. This is supposedly a Spin-Off so I hope it stays this way. o.o

The new designs look really bad and they tried to make the series different again! Haven't we learned anything from all the other Sonic games that tried a different genre and style which failed! Seriously, Sega can't learn from their mistakes nowadays . To be honest, if they just took the same graphics from the Genesis games and made another side scrolling game, it would be great!
