If you all haven't notice, for the past few days, the country has seen some of the coldest temperatures in recorded history, with places in the Northern United States and Canada have reached record lows of like -30F or lower and in the Southern United States has went all the way down to 0F, that bares the question, have this been the coldest temperature you have ever encountered or have you deal with much colder weather before this?

For me, my current location has went down to the upper 10's (F) and that down near the Gulf Coast, and that is really cold for this location I live in, because normally, it's in the mid 40's (F) at this location at this time of the year.

Yeah, "global warming" my butt.

It has been really cold here, but I don't know if it is the coldest that I have ever experienced or not.

tgags123 : Exactly what I was thinking. Today has a high of about 0* here. Tomorrow is supposed to be even colder. With wind chill, it feels about -16* outside. And I don't think it's supposed to get above 10 degrees for another week or so. It's crazy how cold it has been lately. Now is one of those times where I wish global warming was actually real.

The high temperature here in Virginia was 8 degrees. Thankfully the air was very dry so I did not have to scrape my car windows this morning.

Yesterday morning... oh god. Maybe not the coldest I've experienced, but sheesh. When I woke up I was freezing to death. At the time it was 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Because of the dryness, it was supposed to feel like -2.

The lowest temperature I've dealt with was 10 degrees. Today it was slightly over 13, so it wasn't the coldest, but some places within 40 minutes of me felt negative temperatures. So while for me it's not been the coldest I've dealt with, it's really close to being so. Definitely the most drastic change of temperature I've seen.

Well, today, it was extremely frozen! This morning, when my aunt was driving to my middle school on her way to work, within the automobile was five degss fahrenheit! How ridiculous is that!? Also, I like the cold, considering I am rarely cold, I froze today without a jacket. If I was cold, than it had definitely been frozen outdoors. It had probably been about above ten degrees outdoors. How much insanity!

My area has been in the single digits for the last couple of days, but it hasn't really affected me much because I am somewhat immune to cold.

I love how every winter when there is cold temperature, people constantly say "so much for Global Warming, huh?". Just because it is still freezing cold in the winter does not have any indication on Climate Change. Yes, we have had some particularly cold weather this year. But that does not change the fact that the AVERAGE climate temp around the globe is significantly rising. But just because the average climate temperature is rising does NOT mean that we won't experience temperatures colder than recorded American history. A lot of the areas that hit some of the coldest temperatures in their history also experienced heat records just last summer. Climate Change refers to the overall average in climate, not whether or not we have a cold winter. There is no scientific debate that the climate temperature globally is rising. The only debate on the matter (more a political debate) is human contribution to it.

rcarter2 : I was kind of joking, although I do not believe in global warming the way that everyone else does. I am aware tha the average temperature is rising, but I do not think that humans are to blame. If you look back (and I mean way back) to the time of the dinosaurs, the Earth was warmer than it is now. Then the Earth got colder and the Ice Age happened. Now we are warming back up again. I believe it is a cycle. The world gets warmer, then colder, then warmer,  then colder, and so on. Sure CO2 makes it warmer, but not THAT much warmer, only a degree or two. Everyone tells me I am crazy, but it is my theory and it makes sense.

tgags123 : The thing is, there is no way to look back to the time of the Dinosaurs. The most you could do is reverse weather patterns and see what it would look like under the assumption that absolutely nothing interfered with climate and weather patterns, whether they be within the Earth or exterior to it. But there are plenty of indications that outside forces impacted the planet causing drastic climate change. For example, the huge crater in the Atlantic where dating suggest it was made the same time as the last Ice Age strongly supports the asteroid theory. It is agreed that the last Ice Age was anything but a natural occurrence (natural within the planet itself). As for Carbon Dioxide you are right and wrong at the same time. Carbon Dioxide itself temperature wise wouldn't increase the climate on a global scale. But higher concentration of carbon dioxide in the upper atmosphere absolutely does. Not directly though. Thicker carbon dioxide is not enough to block sun rays from entering the planet, as the light is traveling more directly and has more energy. But when sunlight hits the planet, all un-absorbed energy travels back up and out of the planet. But because it has traveled farther and lost a lot of energy from the 'ricochet'. A lot more of that sunlight does not have enough energy to actually exit the planet. So that heat energy is basically trapped in our atmosphere. It is not disagreed that the higher concentration of CO2 in our atmosphere is largely our doing. CO2 is an effective greenhouse gas. But CO2 is only one greenhouse gas, and human activity has placed high concentration of more than a fair share of others. Essentially, sunlight is still able to get in, but doesn't have enough energy to exit. The Ice Age is not a solid argument against human impact on climate change, as evidence indicates that was caused by an external force, not naturally occurring in our planet.

ah Meteorology my favorite subject

The coldest temps I have ever dealt with in my area was 1996 when the temperature dropped to 2 degrees Fahrenheit (-17 Celsius) that was very cold. Keep in mind that my area does not usually drop below 20 degrees Fahrenheit (-7 Celsius) even in the winter. I remember 2003 it dropped to 8 degrees Fahrenheit (-13 Celsius). And of course recently it dropped down to 4 degrees Fahrenheit (-16 Celsius).

In my lifetime it has only gotten that cold 3 times. In the Winter my area usually has temps 48-52 during the day and about 26-30 at night.

It's been pretty cold down here in Mississippi and Alabama. Yesterday it was about 15 degrees F I believe I may be wrong. My mom had to take my sister up to the bus and the bus ran 30 minutes late by the time my mother got home she was freezing cold and couldn't get her feet warm it is terrible.. although I do love cold when I get out in such cold weather I do get cold just like anybody else and I wouldn't say I'm immune to cold like zander did.. I'm more into liking it though.

And over here where it is supposed to be cold it has been raining all winter and the damn ducks are laying eggs and pretty soon the flowers are maybe going to start blossoming and we haven't seen snow all winter.

Yeah, global warming your butt exactly.

It has been really cold recently, it was 3 degrees 2 days ago and I missed school and then got a 2 hour delay the next day, and now there is a chance of freezing rain early tomorrow morning. I'm not getting my hopes up because they make the decision if schools will be open or not at 5, and the rain doesn't come until 5, So I wouldn't hold my breath. But who knows, it might just be enough. But yeah, it's been pretty cold and a lot of days have had highs of only 20 or 30. So its been cold alright...

I live in the UK, so I don't experience very cold weather. The coldest I ever experienced would be the Big Freeze of December 2010. Nowhere near as bad as the US though.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
