Almost everyone has their collections whether it be Golden Nintendo Cartridges or Toe Nail Clippings. Some people put a ton of effort into buying every crucial game, card or comic and others just collect casually by buying what they can easily afford. So as thread title says, what is the most you have spent on a collectable? How much did you pay for that crucial shiney card or the limit edition game? Did it take you take you a while? How much did this affect your collection? You can talk about pretty much anything you like as long as it is on topic! As a casual collector myself I have never really been know to go all this way for one single collectable. However I will chip in the odd bit of money for a collectors edition for something. For instance I paid roughly £45 which I think is about $50 or something, to buy the collectors edition of Soul Calibur V, it costed a little but it was kind of worth it since I was actually willing to know how the story and timeline actually works in the series because you only get brief explanations in game so the booklet that came in the collectors edition was quite helpful. There is one more item that I paid more for and that was Pokemon Yellow. When I was younger I had a crave for pokemon and I had many of the trading cards and the 3 Heon games, Ruby, Sapphire and of course Emerald but that was the only gen I had because at the time I did not have a DS even though they were a couple of years out date. I decided to go for one of the original games but had no luck finding a cheap Red or Blue, I saw Yellow was only £85 (around $90) and it had the most depth out of the 3 so I went for it! Right time for your stories... As a casual collector myself I have never really been know to go all this way for one single collectable. The most I spent on an individual item was about $100 for the Collector's Edition of Tales of Xillia. I had to pay over $12 for shipping, but I think it was worth it. I guess it affected my collection in a good way, especially seeing as I have never purchased another limited edition or Collector's edition of literally anything. |

When I was young, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards were insanely popular. Here and there, I saw kdis with tremendously huge decks with plastic protectors (lol), and then there was me, who honestly just scavenged on cards no one really wanted. That was when I decided to buy some myself. I spent at least maybe a total of $20 on Yu-Gi-Oh cards, the GX ones, on those small 5 card packs. If I were to look back on Yu-Gi-Oh, I would honestly say that I really liked GX more than any other variation. I spent maybe $10 on Pokemon cards, since many of my friends were generous enough in giving me some to start out with. I only got a couple of EX cards, and that's it. Then came the Naruto trading cards. I spent absolutely no money on them, and I happened to get at most 10 cards from my friend as well. I really didn't like that I actually spent money on trading cards, for they were absolutely useless to me, looking back. No one ever even played a game with them, and a lot of people were afraid of trading, especially when they seemed to have assigned each card too their very own plastic protector (lol). They resorted to sneakily manipulating others into giving them certain cards...not everyone feel for those sly tricks, but some people did fall into the trap(s) and gave up almost half their decks. I really don't collect anything much anymore...I wanted to start a baseball card collection, but you see how trading cards went for me. I also wanted to do a collection of all the state-quarters, and hopefully I could have had all 50 quarters from the states. Money was a little scarce and tight in my childhood, so I really didn't bother with that. I could now, but I only seem to be getting the standard quarters or quarters I already have. The most I have spent on single items is around 60-100 dollars. I spent 60 for Mush, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Hyper Stone Heist and a Sega Nomad. I have spent 100 on stuff like my Sega CD. I try not to spend to much on a singe item. I try not to spend to much on a singe item. |

Hmm, Same here MechaMento I was hunting for the collectors edition of Soul Calibur V, after playing Soul Calibur IV for many days. And after I saw the game come out! I wanted to buy it but it was way after the actual game release at least like 1 month or something. Then after hunting for the collectors edition I managed to find one and buy it! I was quite happy after that but the collectors edition didn't have that much to offer. But I did get a good price for it at least. But I was collecting the Pokemon Games but I don't count the side games the one what everyone loves like Red and Blue. But after collecting most of the games but just selling them after, to get like a new DS or something. To play the games then buying them a lot later. Also at the moment I think Pokemon Red or Fire Red costed me the most, or even the new Pokemon games X and Y! Well of course they are on the 3DS! The same goes with Halo, I've got Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo:Reach and Halo 4. But I did get the Anniversary C:E but I sold that after due to having the first one that was a stupid idea. But I did get the Halo C:E, Halo 2 with the Multiplayer pack for around £30. |

Well, I have spent a whole lot more then most people on my collection of Yu-Gi-Oh card. Now, I have almost every card that was made, so that cost me a whole lot. I have bought about $500 US dollars worth of packs for the cards. I have spent about $300 on the booster boxes, and I have spent about $1,000 on individual cards. So, this would all add up to about $1,800 worth of my Yu-Gi-Oh card collection. Now these are just estimates, and I am pretty sure that the booster box and pack numbers would be higher, but this is me just trying to make a guess. I have in my Amazon Kart $273.71 worth of cards and packs that I am trying to get enough money to buy. I am at $427 saved for me collections, but I am going to use some of that for some new Pokémon games and the new 2DS. Yami the Pharaoh : I may of paid something like that or more for trading cards. I mainly collected Pokemon Cards but there was a time where I was collecting Football (soccer) cards called match attacks or something. Most of it really went to waste for me since I am quite grown out of cards. I am not the biggest pokemon fan anymore so that sort of ruined that copy of Pokemon Yellow I got! I still play pokemon I just find myself getting bored every now and again, unlike back then when it was my whole life. Please dont get the 2DS... You can get the 3DS for a similar price if second hand. GreenTurtle : As you may know I am a just as big Halo fan as you are, though I do not have all of the games (ignoring spin-offs). Well I do not even have a regular Xbox so I downloaded one onto my Xbox 360. Fancy playing Halo 4, I have not played that for a while due to getting Halo Reach not too long ago. GenesisJunkie : $60 for some retro kit like that. Shame pretty much all modern games these days cost similar prices. I basically spend nearly all my time on my Pokémon collection mainly because that was my first ever collection I started on. If I were to estimate how much money I spend on my Pokémon collection I'd say it would be at least $100 or $150. I don't really spend all my time on other collections except for one more and that would be my video game collection. I have a few systems such as wii, xbox, psp and the Nintendo 3ds; Currently I'm working on getting at least a Ps3 or 4 yet I'm not to enthusiastic about the 2ds. Anyway all my game systems have at least a game for me to play. If I were to estimate how much I spend on my video game collection than I'd say about $125 or $200 at best. Well I buy games that I want and add them to my collection. I don't really buy games only to collect them. The most i've spent was probably about $60. I got all of my systems as gifts so I only need o buy the games for them. |

B619ook : Personally I would just keep saving for the Xbox one. Yes it costs more and so does the online but it is more about the quality, the Xbox One offers more. Xbox Live is just great, there is a lot more you can do with it than PSN. For instance on PSN you have to be on the same game to chat to someone, whereas on the Xbox 360 and Xbox one you can talk when ever you want playing seperate games! I heard that the Xbox one will have skype built in so you can also be playing a game whilst chatting to a friend that is using skype on a different platform like PC or Tablet. I do not blame you with the 2DS, there really is no point getting it. I do not know how someone can find it possible to be comfortable with the button layout, it reminds me of the N64 controller which pretty much required 3 hands to use it! I do not know why it is so big either, especially when it is made for younger kids. How on earth are they even meant to reach the joystick! Good question, I try to limit how much I spend on one part of my collection, I collect video games and other stuff, so I am not going to pay 200 dollars on just one game, that is just outrageous in my opinion. But other than that, pokemon cards were the thing a few years ago back when I was in 5th grade, kids would bring them to school and trade them every day, I still have all of mine in a binder in my closet, but looking on a collector's cache site, some of those cards sell for 50, 100, and even in the range of 500-1,000 for a stupid rare charizard card which is insane and I would never spent that much for some silly little card. But those are some of the things I collect/ used to collect and the insane prices. Most I have ever spent was about 60-75 on a video game, can't remember what it was off the top of my head though. |

The most I have spent on one collectible at a time was about 30 dollars. It was for an autographed baseball card of my favorite player. Overall, for my entire collection of baseball cards, I must have spent at least a couple hundred dollars, but that amount is spread over the last three to five months. |
