I'm 12 and I'm in seventh grade. I got a 99 on the Iowa test and I am now in Algebra 1. I told my mom and all she said was, " good job. Now get out, I'm watching T.V." Not only that, I got an A in Algebra 1 in my report cards and she did the same thing. I've always been really good at math, so I'm not sure if she doesn't care, or just isn't surprised.

However, with regards to your mother, she should make an attempt to be happy for you. She seems to be only occupied in her favorite T.V. shows...

Maybe she does care (hopefully she does), but she is so engrossed in her shows...which isn't really good. 

Or maybe it is that you probably get great grades to begin with, and seeing such a good grade doesn't surprise her, but she probably is proud of you, even though she isn't showing it on the outside. The inside is the mystery.

Well mate . When my parents do those things I tend to close my eyes and pretend it is all a bad dream . They just don't strike me as much . That.....is not how a mother should be to her child, some don't care most do but, in your situation it seems she doesn't.....has she taken the time to go out and bond with you? Or cook? If she doesn't then I really feel sorry for you.....a mothers first priority is her children and nothing else. Of course she can watch TV and stuff but her child should always come first before anything, because the child is important. I am really happy for your results, if you were my child I would take you somewhere nice to celebrate. Some mothers tend to be strange of how they act.......talk to her and try and see why shes acting the way she is.....if she gives you the same answer then....all I can say is be strong, give yourself strength, set yourself goals to achieve, don't ever give up, and I believe one day you will have a better life as you are in now. Just keep looking forward, keep working hard and of course having lots of rest as well. If you need more advice please do not be hesitate to come to me, for help and I will do the best of my ability to do so. ^-^

I know that the way she dismisses you makes you feel bad but don't give up on her. She may get hold of her problem one day and be a completely different person or maybe not.

I bet you won't make the same mistake with your kids though?

If you try talking to her about how you feel, remember that troubling news is best received right after good news. What I'm saying is that you might try giving her a hug and/or kiss and telling her that you love her before telling her how she's making you sad.
