I have been playing the trumpet ever since the fourth grade, and I do not think I will stop now  

The trumpet is a wonderful instrument...I have learned a lot about it over the years, and the upper class men at my high school are very good teachers to us freshman. 

In middle school, I was part of the jazz band for two years, and ever since then, I was absolutely hooked on jazz.

I am trying my best now to improve the little things I do when I play the trumpet. Sometimes my embouchure gets messed up, and I forget to warm down after playing. 

It is sad however, that many people I knew and who were in my band class last year, quit. I understand there's a lot more to do in the high school, so if they come from there, then I understand. Others I know for a fact quit because the band teacher was actually a legit music teacher. He was fun at times, but he was actually someone who taught you some necessities in music and just basic music terminologies and features that the previous band teachers never taught well. 
He was very committed...he was the leader of the jazz band, and every time we played at competitions (Music in the Parks is one of the competitions we played at), most of the time we would get the highest marks. He taught musical discipline well, but he wasn't a "no-fun" type of guy. 

I am currently about one of the fifteen or so band members left who did not quit...us freshmen aren't so bad  

I am a part of band (if you didn't know that already lol) class, and a requirement for those who join is that you must participate in the marching band as well. That's pretty much what my band class is...band class (for concerts), and as a whole, we play as a pep band at the football games. We haven't had the chance to actually march (no parades yet). 

My community is known for music excellence, and I am happy I can up my trumpet skills in a skillful and fun environment. 

I have been in both classes before for majority of my school year, I've been in music between Kindergarten through 8th grade but then I seem to dropped out of music at the start of high school, not really sure on why, I could of kept on going, but, I've been in an art class for all 13 years of school (from K though 12th), and I think I was more successful in art more than I have with music.

zanderlex : yes i took photography 1 and 2 also photo shop and they were fun classes our teacher was an awesome one she loved photography and lots of us took some game pics i did one of Final Fantasy 10 and she told us her experience of playing it with her husband on their honeymoon which i though was cool

I took band and chorus back in elementary because I wanted to take them, and art is a required class back in the elementary and middle school I went to. I didn't have to continue taking band and chorus, but I still take them in high school because I like taking those classes. I like art too, but I didn't feel like taking it this year.

I used to have Art at 2012. It was fun and all but we still have to learn.

I am in New York, so my school requires me to take an art or music class as well. We have a lot of options, such as Band, Chorus, Show Choir, Theater, Studio Art, Stagecraft, and Digital Media. Being the computer nerd I am, I chose Digital Media. We make movies and songs and stuff, it is really cool.

In my school we had to choose one of each every year, so my first year I choose acting class, Second year singing class (Chorus?) and this last year I took dancing class. This were the only 3 that got my attention, and if we could go one for 3 years, I would take singing, I really liked it!

I took a lot of Art in middle school, but I'm taking Art History next semester in high school. I haven't done music for years. Personally I'd never take music or art alone, but the combination of art and history makes it fun.

Well I am choosing my lesson options in a months time and I am almost certainly going to choose music.
I don't like my teacher, and it is not because she is strict it is who she is, but I just love music. I love listening creating and playing it is a good hobby of mine and to do it in school would be great.

I am not really a fan of art, it really just bores me. I just cant stand it. The only positive I get from it is the fact that the girls I sit with are good looking.

MechaMento : The girls are good looking? Well if that's the case, then you should change every class you have to art. You won't learn anything other than art, but hey, the girls are good looking. What kind of music?

zanderlex : Hey I usually work with them in music as well but not all the time, I am usually pulled away by my friends. But when you are forced to sit in between them in are there are no friends to pull you out of fun!

I like a huge variety of music but mainly Big Beat / Dance from the 90's. I love the Chemical Brothers!! I also listen to rock, indie and alternative punk.
I usually create tracks in the big beat genre but a little modernised. I am not quite a pro but I am currently making the soundtrack to earthwarriors pokemon hack.
I do stuff aside from that because that music has to be a little pokemonised and the GBA sound quality is only 16-bit.

Well in Jamaica you take Music and Art up to grade Nine where you only take Art without Music ... both classes were fun .. considering we only had to draw something and then galavant the rest of the class away for Art .. Music was nice cuz we only had to learn how to play ... then play .. not hard actually  

I had to take a art class once! It was very fun and I had a good time with it. I still am not the best artist but I am glad I did that class because I made many new friends and learned a bit more about the art of drawing. I had to be in a music contest when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade.. I was very nervous but I did it.

I have, indeed, taken Music classes before. Only when I was very little, though. I learned only a few tunes on the piano, and that's pretty much it. As for Art, I have taken art classes in Elementary school, but I am a skilled artist already, and do not apply what I've learned to my drawings, but I make them my own way ^^!

I remember playing the violin during 2nd grade and it was a horrible experience for me since I didn't know how to play the violin. I played the trumpet during my freshmen  year but it took some time to get used to playing it.

I took both classes. I did it every 3 days about. I am a horrible drawer so I try my best to draw. I can;t even draw a person correctly. It just looks if they were naked or something. As for music I am pretty good at it because I was attending it for 4-5 years.

When I was still in school, music class was mandatory in elementary school. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either. I just wasn't a fan of the music we had to learn, although our teacher did let the students choose one song to learn every so often. Sometimes we would have choir competitions, which nobody really enjoyed. My favourite part of that class was learning to play the xylophone. It was an alright class, but I was glad when I changed school's and I didn't have to take it anymore. 

Art class was also mandatory right up until grade 11. I loved that class. Our art teachers were really eclectic and we would do all sorts of thing's. Batik's, bodhran drums, painting, sculptures, pottery, leather bound books, etc. Easily one of my favourite classes. I used to love the field trips we would take to art museum's and studio's across the city.

Mr. Zed : That sounds cool! So that means you take Art until you graduate? 
You're lucky. My art class is completely different. It's all learning about artists and no drawing. I'm wasn't surprised since it's an Art History class.
