Which one worries you the most?

For me, living up in the New England area, the natural disaster I worry about the most is a hurricane, seeing how it really is the only natural disaster that would impact my coastal state. We don't get much earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunamis, or forest fires at all. Just Nor' Easters.

For where I am ( Atlanta ) it is kind of hard to pick one. I guess I would pick Hurricane because we always get the edge of a strong hurricane so I get a lot of rain.

Basically I live in the eastern united states so tornadoes, tsunamis, forest fires and earthquakes are nothing to worry about whatsoever. Basically all I have to do is just worry about hurricanes which are somewhat common but kind of uncommon as well. I do have to worry about snow when winter comes but that's not a natural disaster.

A hurricane just because i have seen how devastating they can be.
One will probably never come around where i live but there still is a chance just like all other natural disasters

Well, I used to live in Northwest Canada, East Canada, Mid-Canada, so I've had my fair share. Heck, whenever I go to Georgia for family reunions, we ALWAYS go when there's bad weather.

But, now, I'm in Los Angeles. And we barely have disaster, other than one.

Earthquakes are really common, due to our proximity to a tectonic plate. I could never tell if I was in a real earthquake or not, really. But if there was something REALLY bad, well...

Barathemos :

Tornadoes are an equal threat, too. You know how much bullets the Metro area is dodging, hurricane-wise?

Tornado . I hate tornadoes . They can sweep my house away easily . And I am not a fan of heights . And I would nit like to be flung into the air by a passing whirl wind

I have to choose Tornado. As a kid I was always scared that a tornado would come and I would die. I live in New York, so there are no tornadoes here, but I didn't know that. The only natural disaster we get here are hurricanes, but I am not scared of hurricanes at all.

Sidewinder : Did I send you the layout for making a thread yet?

Hurricanes is what I worry about. I live near the beach down in my state, so... Yeah. It would be worse for me if a hurricane happened.

I live in Pennsylvania, so we don't really see any natural disasters. I've only known of 3 small tornados that have occurred within thirty miles of my house since I've been alive, so nothing to worry about. I don't know if there's every been an earthquake, there could have been, but it was probably really weak. As for hurricanes, when they occur, all we get is a lot of rain, not much to worry about. I'm actually pretty well off in terms of my location, and I'm glad I don't really have to worry about natural disasters (at the present).?

Well to be honest, I find that they are all very devastating and scary in their own right, but personally I think that hurricane's are the worst type of storm there is, they are just so strong and powerful and they can cause so much destruction.

Earthquakes are bad too, as well as tornadoes. So overall, each natural disaster is bad in its own way, but personally, I just find hurricanes to be the most destructive and powerful, they are so big and the winds can reach over 100 mph. They are some of the most destructive and devastating natural disasters out there. Good question by the way! This is good for the world and beyond forum!

Mostly for my location, the biggest thing we worry about is a really strong hurricane, because we could have a really bad one, because back in 2005 (Although I wasn't around here at the time because I was back up in the Northern United States), this area got completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, but since then, that's been the biggest worry for me, but I'm not really that worried though.

I am terrified of tsunami's. Were I live, we aren't that high above sea level, meaning even a small one could end very bad. And after seeing the ones from Japan and such, I'm even more scared.

For those of you who don't live on the ocean and have never experienced a tsunami, they're incredibly scary.  I lived in Hawaii during the Peru and Japan tsunamis and we were lucky not to be destroyed by both.  The entire ocean pretty much gains 10 or 15 or 20+ feet and comes at you.  You can't run, you can't hide, you can only hope you're high enough off the ground that you're not drowning and you're not getting hit by debris or getting sucked back out into the ocean.  There can be multiple waves, they can be different heights, and you know they're coming in a few hours but you have no idea what it'll be like.

Imagine knowing an earthquake will hit five hours from now.  But you don't know how bad and you can't leave the area.  That's a tsunami.

The worst thing you get here are heavy winds.
They can take off roofs and bring down forests but it could be worse, normally very few people die.
I believe the uk has more tornados than any place in the world, but most of them happen out to sea and never make it inland.

I voted for the Tsunami. All of the other disasters can be prepared for to some degree. Even a regular house fire. But a tsunami, while you can probably see it coming sooner than a tornado, has all of that water weight baring down on the buildings. You can at least build a storm shelter underground for tornadoes, move out of the path of a forest fire or hurricane, & have an extinguisher on hand for a house fire. The earthquake is possibly the only other one that's somewhat hard to prepare for.... unless you have a helicopter in your backyard that you could fly in an emergency.... just don't fly too high & freak out the FAA for not filing a flight plan....

I'm worried about earthquakes more than anything. I don't live near the coast and in a hilly area, so tsunamis and tornadoes aren't a real danger, but there's a fault line less than 200 mines west of where I live, so that could pose a danger.
