Maybe it's due to growing up in a pickup truck, or maybe it's because I've always valued usefulness over appearance, but I've always, always wanted to have my own truck some day. I HATE that they use so much gas mileage, but any time I see a truck on the road, I have to stop myself from drooling.  I mean, there are some trucks out there that I just... CAN'T get enough of.... I've even called a few trucks 'sexy', which isn't a word I used to describe much of anything.  (Don't mock me!)

More specifically... I'd adore a F-150, fleet side, V-8 engine, with an extended cab and 4" lift kit.  Can someone please catch the breath I just lost?

I don't like trucks with the large fender flares, or dual rear wheels.  Yuck! I also prefer older trucks over newer ones.

So does anyone else share an affinity for trucks?  If so, what's your dream truck?  Any pictures to share of a truck that you already own?  Let's see those gorgeous vehicles!

Singelli : Back when I was a good bit younger, my family owned a red F-150.  It was a nice little truck, and came in handy whenever we needed a trip to the Home Depot near our house.  Since I was tall, though; the plastic backs of the seats in front dug into my legs and caused me a good bit of pain and discomfort.  I still miss that F-150, though.  I've got some good memories of that truck.

Although I would probably not say any trucks are "sexy", I do like them. This last Winter, I really like how they feel with the high ride, and they are very useful. At an auto show, I sat in a Ford Super Duty: King ranch edition, and it was probably the most comfortable vehicle I've ever sat in, even in the back seats.

Trucks aren't my favorite. I am more of a sports car or luxury car kind of guy. However I don't dislike truck. I would rather have a pickup truck than an SUV or a Prius or any other kind of hybrid or smart car. Another problem with trucks, like you mentioned, is that they don't get very good gas mileage (but I suppose a Corvette doesn't either so.....). I also don't like having to pay extra for diesel fuel, all though not all trucks run on diesel.

I like any F-_50's. I like Raptors, which are 150s. They go well over 100 mph, so I like very few trusks, I like S10s, too.

supernerd117 :  That sounds like it was one nice little truck indeed!  I grew up with a gray F-150, adorned with a red pin stripe. I will never forget that little truck or the memories we had in it.  We lived in Alaska during most of the time that my family owned it, and when we moved down to the lower 48, that's when it decided to break down. We all mourned the loss of it.  It was our family vehicle growing up, and as strange as it may sound, it had a special place in my heart.

partar4097:  *blushes* I told you I don't use that word with many things!  haha!  And oh yes.. the 'high ride' is DEFINITELY one of the things I love most about pick ups. I feel so much more at ease when I'm driving that high, and I just... love the way they feel!  I'm jealous that you got to sit in the King Ranch.... I wanna know what that was like! haha

tgags123 :  As much as I adore trucks, I don't think I'd ever buy one that ran on diesel... That's a pretty penny it just wouldn't be worth!

Singelli : Having a vehicle that runs on diesel is actually much more fuel efficient generally.

Anyway, we just got a truck a few days ago! Here's some pics!

mrfe : AAAAHHHH! What are the odds that I make this post and you tell me you just got a truck?!?!

*drools* AND it's got a camper!  GO YOU!  I'm so happy for you! haha!

And diesel really runs better?  Even despite the higher cost?  Wow! If that's the case, maybe I wouldn't mind after all!

haha, ikr? That's so awesome!!!!!

I know! I personally think it would look better without the camper, but I doubt we'll take the camper off. I want to take a road trip with it some time! xD

That's what I've heard, at least. My grandparents have a car that runs on diesel, and they get around 50mpg. Perhaps that's different with trucks though...

Interesting.  Looking at the couple of pictures of trucks posted, I think we have a different meaning of the word "truck" in my country, or maybe you use the same word to describe two "different" vehicles.  It's best illustrated through pictures.

In my country, this is a truck:

This is a pickup (truck ?) or what we call here a "bakkie", which directly translated means, "bowl" due to the back end that's "bowl-like" if you know what I mean.  The proper name is LDV or Light Delivery Vehicle:

I don't have a particular fondness for trucks.  My mom has.  Does that count?
I like motorbikes .  The irony is I don't even own one..

SoL@R : Over here, a truck is anything from a pickup to a semi!

Also, I think I forgot to mention that our new pickup is a stick-shift, is 17 years old, and has around 140,000 miles on it.

mrfe : ooooh yeah, I DO remember you mentioning the truck now in chat.  I just didn't quite catch on that it was actually a TRUCK.  I do like campers, but I also prefer my trucks without them.  haha!

So, you guys know how I said I find some trucks 'sexy'? I had one of those moments today. I saw this truck and it made me all giddy inside. I could NOT stop looking at it, and although I normally would NEVER do this, I actually stopped and took a photo of it. I kept staring at the photo and telling Jason what a drop dead gorgeous truck it was.  Behold:

Check out that LIFT KIT?!?! *nearly dies from happiness*
Sorry about the poor quality of the photo. I have a super cheap not-smart phone.

Singelli :  That's obviously a testosterone driven vehicle It should have a bumper sticker which says "Men only".  The only issue I have, judging from the pic, are the wheels.  They look too small for such a huge body.  It makes the truck look "top heavy".  Also, it probably doesn't drive, it bounces

Quick question - An El Camino, what is that classified as?  I have a real soft spot for classic cars.

SoL@R :  haha!  I gotta say that I struggle to see an El Camino as a 'truck'. Nice looking cars, sure, but I just can't put it in that category. It's more like a truck wannabe.  Or a very confused car. XD  Or maybe even a Lincoln Town-chero on steroids. haha.

The El Camino definitely beats the Subaru Baja though.  Those just make me cringe.  Why must people make such horrid things?

Singelli :  OMW that IS an ugly car.  Thank heavens we don't get them here  We don't have any "big" trucks (as the one in your pic) driving around here.  The very few I've seen here have obviously been imported from the US and they stand out like a sore finger due to their size.  Here's a couple of commonly found "trucks" in my country.  I'm not sure if all can be classified as trucks - anyway:

VW Amarok (my favourite )

Ford Ranger

Mazda BT-50

Toyota Hilux

There's a couple of others, but I'll stop here for now.

Sometimes it's so hard to keep my dignity.... XD

Usually I don't like Silverados, but this one had me drooling.  I was leaving a restaurant with my in-laws and they stopped for conversation. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the truck and actually walked over to take a picture of it.  They all looked at me like I'm crazy. XD

I like trucks too! My dad always drives one. Right now he has a Ford Ranger 4x4. http://www.remarkablecars.com/main/ford/1999-ford-004.html It looks like that, only red. There's a lot of awesome looking ones here though...*drools in awe*
