How do you inform people that you do not care about a show they are watching?

So of course when I have company over and they decide to watch something I could care less about..(I.E. chick flicks.) They not only get over emotional to silly proportions but they beg for my participation as well by asking me questions like.

"What just happened?"
Or
"Who is that?"
Or
"Where do I know that actor/ actress from?"
Or
"Isn't that just horrible or wonderful?"

My reply ritual?
I break out in song, like in a musical, and sing things like "I'm not watching I don't care."
Or
"Why ask me that if it's your show?"
"Please don't ask me I don't care."

A good Backing Music track selection I select comes from Robotech / Macross.
Any Backtrack to Minmei' songs will do.

After employing this trick since childhood. (I grew up with two sisters.)
I have not seen any ill effects yet.

How do the rest of you respond to such odd requests of participation that has no appeal to you?

Well, if I'm sitting there with them which is usually the case, I slump down in my chair about an inch, go limp from the waste up,put on the glassy eyes, and grumble "uuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh" for about 15 seconds.

I just simply say I don't care just change the channel I'm just watching it because the remote is too far away and that is it may sound strange at first but we all say that at least once to who ever wants the remote.

Well if my parents invite me to a show and they give me an insight on what its about and if I'm not interested or I don't like the way it sounds, I just say no thanks maybe another time. Plain and simple but it isn't rude or disrespectful to them. But I'd say a good 85% of the stuff they watch and invite me to watch is cool or funny, so it isn't a waste of time. But sometimes I will politely say no thank you maybe another time. So that is pretty much what I do basically.

I usually just tell them that I cant stand that show, lol! I have a good friend who loves all tv and I really don't watch much and he goes on and on about it. It drives me nuts so usually I will either say the show is horrible or change the subject.
