Throughout the years I have been playing games, there have been several that have grabbed and held my attention for months upon months, even years before I could let go and move on to something new. Currently I have been obsessing over the Shin Megami Tensei series and all of it's spin offs. I've even been playing the older ones on this site. I probably won't stop until I have played them all.

Even though you may have one of these obsessions, I am not saying that it's the only thing you play. I really just mean that you can't get it out of your mind, can't let go of it because something still keeps you attached to it.

So I want to know, am I just blowing a load of nothing or is this a rather common occurrence? Have you ever  been obsessed with a game so much that you were unable to move on? Tell me what you guys think about this.

yeah i used to like call of duty alot i was pretty good but now im losing my touch at playing the game i only play it about 2 hours but its better playing with my friends instead of online now i play pokemon games and classics just like when i was a kid as a kid every game was hard for me especially goldeneye didnt get the objectives but im not really obsessed to any games right now thats what i think 

If its anything consisting in the world of Mega Man or Mega Man X I will never be able to let go any of those games! XD And to some extent the old Final Fantasy games. I always find myself going back and playing them when current gen games are doing it for me sometimes and still get the amazing amount of satisfaction while playing the classics or finishing them.

That has happened to me before and I do think that is very common, especially for retro games. I can't let go of Super Mario 64 because of all of the cool moves that Mario can do, the great fun to battle bosses and the cool glitches you can perform in the game. All of the other games I've played I've been able to move on from easily.

When I was little, I was obsessed with the Mario franchise. But now I stop thinking about Mario alot.

Am, have and always probably will be with the Zelda franchise. I can't even count the number of times I have beat Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, not to mention I have played through all the GB games at least 2-3 times each and Skyward Sword is on it's 3rd play through. Safe to say i am pretty obsessed sad to say that I still haven't picked up Spirit Tracks yet. The only other games I have beaten in and out as thoroughly as much as Legend of Zelda is both Batman Titles: Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and Super Mario World for SNES that was my jam back in the day lol.

Sadly, I admit that I was consumed by World of Warcraft about 2 1/2 years ago.  I had to constantly wrestle with my PC so it wouldn't slow down too much to accommodate as many addons as I could, and I ended up playing it 17-20 hours/day.  I know that it contributed in part to my upcoming divorce, but upon looking back on it I believe my soon-to-be ex-wife was cheating on me prior to that anyway, and I'm much happier now that she's gone.  Ironically I stopped playing one day because something clicked inside me that said, "MAN, this is getting REALLY boring!!!", and though I think about rejoining from time to time I just have no interest in it anymore.  Likewise with Diablo III...I may end up playing it someday but for now I'm sticking to retros...lol!

There was a period of time when I was addicted to Fifa 13 Ultimate Team. I would play it for hours every day. I stopped playing, since always winning the division one title just got . I have not even touched the disc for ages. 

But for long term addictiveness I would have to give the tip to the halo series. I have been playing since Halo 3 and have played everyone except halo 2. I have completed all the campaigns except 4 (which does get tough in Heroic) and the original Halo which I downloaded on XBLA but have only played it twice.

There have been numerous games I just couldn't stop thinking about. Kingdom Hearts, for example. There's also Mass Effect, Final Fantasy X, and Digimon World.

I guess for me, it is Borderlands 1 and 2. Even though I beat the Borderlands 1 on Xbox, I bought a PC copy. I have also beaten Borderlands 2 and I keep finding myself and my friend going back to it, even though I have other games to tear through.

Well, in general I get this way with Pokémon games, like on vizzed, I was addicted to hacks like Pokémon light platinum, fire red generations and flora sky and a few others. There was just so much to cover in those games and I was always busy training and leveling up, so it was just hard to call it a day and leave it behind. I always get this way with Pokémon games. I was also addicted to final fantasy games such as final fantasy X, I just couldn't get enough of it. I f it is a game I like I will put in a lot of hours playing it, so you can imagine how hard it is to stop playing a game that your so obsessed with.

There is actually two series that never seem to get old one the Super Smash Bros series it never gets old no matter what and two the Elder Scroll series both of these series are highly addicting and I recommend you to play them.

I've definitely had my fair share of obsessing over games, but I've noticed that Deus Ex games in particular always hold my attention until the very end.

When I got Fire Emblem Awakening for the 3DS, I was completely obsessed. I tried to limit myself and save the game for later times, but that was what made me addicted. I was doing basically everything to do in the game other than the main levels. I was surprised when I beat the game in a month, because if I wouldn't of limited myself, I would've beaten it in less than a week and I know it. Right now, I'm currently replaying the game in Hard Mode. It's pretty challenging.

In the past I have been obsessed with the Civilization series. The obsession seems to be returning again. Must...not...lose...control... There is just something about a randomly generated map with cities to build, enemies to annihilate, and the god-like power of it all.

I was obsessed with Minecraft on my Xbox. I had so much stuff to do in that game. I love building things; so that game is perfect. Such a small, yet large game.

I can not let go the game Mario Kart Wii. And my Wii. I had Mario Kart Wii for years, and I am one of the best players in the world. I just wish that I could have this game forever.. and ever.

Throughout the years I have been obsessed with games. The one I am still obsessed with now is Battlefront II. It is understandable because it is such a great game! I can't get enough of it! I really enjoy playing Amnesia as well.

Yes. Some games that I have been obsessed with before are Pokemon Ruby, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Pokemon Diamond, and Call of Duty: Black Ops (which I don't even like anymore).
